We LOVE this place! My family has been coming to Waltonia since 1931, when my Mammaw was 13. It is always so relaxing and you forget that the road is right by the river because you don't really hear it. I love all of the updates that the family is doing. I expect to see the bookings flourish!

We enjoyed our stay in Cabin 14. We would love to see Waltonia put ceiling fans in the screen porches as that would make such a difference when sitting outside. Also, it would be nice to have a print out in the cabin of working the TV. It took us a long time to even get the news and we wanted to watch the Olympics which we were unable to do.
Rooms: Fine, nothing fancy but cool and comfortable.
Nearby activities: good dinner at 1011 Bistro in Kerrville
Safety: Fine
Walkability: Good. Took morning walks on the road next to Waltonia.
Food & drinks: Nice refrigerator to keep food in. Nice stove, etc.
Noteworthy details: see above.

In the dizzying world of Social Media, amusement parks, and overscheduled families, few places remain where children can simply play, and families can simply be. Waltonia is such a haven. We have been coming to Waltonia for over 60 years, and now, returning regularly is THE highlight of my grandchildren's lives.
The cabins are simple: luxurious they are not. The value here lies in the fact that kids can run over to their cousins' cabin a few doors down and head to the playground, as tired parents watch from a distance, nursing their coffee on a screened-in porch, maybe reconnecting with their spouse, a sibling, or a parent. Basic cabins also means there's no carpet or fancy furniture to worry about. Time slows down without as much "stuff" to take care of.
Once everyone's up and dressed, you can stroll down (no steps, stroller/walker friendly) to the Guadalupe River, which is delightfully peaceful, cool and refreshing. Parents can play with their kids or simply watch as the kids entertain themselves. For hours. And hours. The kids learn to swim, kayak, do cannonballs off the platform, and spot little fish, turtles, and very interesting ducks. From 1 month to 71 years, everyone is happy. All day.

Love the way the cabins form a U-shape around a grassy area for gathering, kids to play, etc. The river is a short walk down and is a perfect place to hang out and swim. We really enjoyed our time there and hope to go back soon!

Wonderful spot for family and friends. Fantastic owners! Helped make sure we had the right grill/fire pit for our groups traditional steak taco night. Can’t wait to go back next year.

What a beautiful place to make lifelong memories! Cabin possessed everything needed, access to river was convenient and safe for all ages to walk, shared equipment/facilities were in great condition and readily available. We will be back with a bigger group next time!

We loved Waltonia! Our first visit, and will not be our last. Great weekend celebrating siblings' birthdays during the beautiful spring weather. The grounds are beautiful and spacious with activities for the whole family, and the river is steps away. Some of the cabins are newly redone and very nice and some are older and "rustic." Great place for a family/friends gathering. Enjoyed meeting Neal and learning about the property!

Waltonia Lodges is a great place to stay. The cabins have a homey feel that are very nice and comfortable. My family has came here for generations and I don't plan on ending that tradition. The owner/ owners have been amazing and the one time there was a mistake with our cabin the owner was extremely kind and due to the mistake we were given a much bigger nicer cabin for the mistake at the same price. Being on the Guadeloupe is very nice as well. Overall an amazing place and can't wait to keep going for years.

Absolutely wonderful stay on the river. Playground for children, far enough from the river so parents can relax. Super river access. Great birding in the fall. The owners are great. We got in on a late reservation. Super super place.Nearby activities: Centrally located for Kerrville, Criders, Lost Maples. Newly remodeled rooms were fantastic. Other rooms are rustic. Pick your preference.

My family has been vacationing at Waltonia since the 1940’s. It has a special place in my heart and many childhood memories were formed here. The place has been through many changes but these recent changes made by Mandi and Neal Secor are the most promising. The cabins are sooo much nicer than in recent past. The updated furniture and kitchen equipment were much needed. The grounds look much better kept as well. Our brief weekend stay in Cabin 3 was perfect. We were there to float on the river and relax and the simple rustic cabin was just enough to keep us comfortable and have a good nights sleep. The bed was nice and a brand new AC unit kept us cool in the hot Texas summer.I miss all the animals that have roamed the property for years (goats, donkeys, and peacocks) but I understand in these times it is hard to keep up with them.Overall very impressed with the changes to Waltonia. It’s kept the cool Hill Country vibe and stayed mostly modern. Nicely done Mandi and Neal ????

We stayed in the oldest cabin. It was rustic, funky and perfectly comfortable. We enjoyed the collection of watercolor paintings that covered the walls and ceiling. It’s not for everyone, but it was perfect for us. The rest of our group stayed in newer cabins. Everyone enjoyed the river and chill atmosphere. This place is authentic. Great owners!
