JC Penney was ONCE a good place to have your hair cut, perms, wash and blow out, but it's certainly gone down hill. Every salon can have an "off day" which is why I went yesterday for a haircut. The last time (before this) I checked in with the receptionist, but sat waiting for Carmen for 45 minutes, past my appointment time. When I told them I was leaving they were shocked! Carmen came out and stated she'd been waiting for me. They gave me another appointment a few days later that would be free. I do not expect people to work for free so I paid the regular amount and gave her a decent tip (30%). I went yesterday and as usual arrived about 15 minutes before the appointment time. I waited 25 minutes and began to leave. Carmen came out and stated she'd been waiting for me, I informed her I had been waiting for HER. Not only did I get a bad haircut, but she didn't do as I asked her. I wanted a tapered cut in back, she didn't seem to know what that was, she did every other time she's cut my hair. She shaved the back! I asked that the top be about 3 inches long, it's an inch and a quarter. She knew I wear hearing aids because I explained to ask me all the questions BEFORE I had to remove them. She didn't ask anything until my hair was wet, which meant I could not put in my aids, didn't want to spend another $1000 for replacements. Finally I agreed to anything she said because she would not listen to what I WANTED. This is the last time I go, the salon being nearly empty should have been a warning. When I made the appt. via on-line I informed them of the hearing aids as I have done for the past several years. If you value your nerves stay away.

Definitely didn't have the best experience. I booked Brandi online since she said she loves doing bob hairstyles. I specified online that I wanted a short a-line bob like haircut. When I arrived, as soon as I met her, she stated that she is not very good with short hair. Warning one. I showed her images of what I wanted which was a very short Victoria Beckham bob where one side is longer than the other. She was very sweet during the haircut, but never asked is this short enough? Is this what you wanted? Also she only looked at the photo once. When she was finished with a very basic just above the shoulder bob, she made a comment, sorry it is not as short as you wanted. She made this comment as she was taking the apron off. Never showed me the back, and like I said before, never asked if I wanted something changed. I just left the chair since I kind of felt pushed out. My hair is long enough that I could almost make a pony tail and I don't have the edgy look I was going for. I am actually gonna have my mother in law who cut hair 30 years ago try to fix it. Brandi is very good at the styles she knows, so it is a very well done hairstyle, just not at all what I wanted.

Fadille is the absolute best hairstylist I've ever had, hands down. I did my own color for years, but finally realized I just wasn't doing myself any favors. I asked Fadille to help me transition my graying hair, giving me a more sophisticated look for my 50's. She absolutely delivered. I feel so good with a color that suits my age and style.

Absolute worst experience I have ever had. She had no clue what she was doing and a week later, still haven't been able to fix. Wanted to embrace the silver in my hair and go completely silver. Since never bleached my hair decided a salon was best. Have auburn hair. After 5 hours and multiple chemicals my head was on fire and had to leave with $230 spent and an ugly brassy yellow orange head. She told me to come back in two weeks and she would fix for free...hell no! I have short hair and she didn't even trim it evenly along the nape! Will never go back!

My name is Jojo. Im writting this review to help other women. There is a stylish by the name of Kadale . She destroyed my hair !!!! Ive been getting highlights since i was 15 years old . My hair was always in great shape. My normal stylist Ken which is absolutely amazing was and has been out sick . He's been doing my hair for 10 years and has never damaged my hair !! Kadale was the 1st person i trusted with my hair after ken . She fried my hair so bad !! Its like sand paper . I had to cut off my long beautiful hair . And to top it off she refuses to admit she damaged and fried it !! Ive had 3 very professional stylists tell me its fried and in very bad shape. Ive spent so much money on deep conditioner hair mask and expensive shampoo and conditioners . I feel i just need to shave it off . Im very distraught and sad and angry over this. She still charged me 250 for frying my hair !!! Please take this serious. It could happen to you !!!! I dont think she belongs in a salon !!!! She is currently working at salon by instyle at JCPenney in northeast mall . Hope this helps someone!!!!!!!!

I decided to try out the revamped salon this weekend, and I wasn't disappointed. The redesign is clean, stylish, and open and the receptionists were welcoming and friendly. I have curly hair, so getting a good hair cut is always a struggle, especially if I don't want to pay upwards of $80. My hair had gotten way too long, and I just really needed some length and bulk taken off. I was paired with Thomas, who has curly hair himself. He was fun and talkative, and did a great job with my hair. The cut was very reasonable in price, especially since I didn't pay for the blow dry (I always air dry my curls). I will be back!

Do NOT get your hair cut or permed here. Perms are not done right, your hair will be flat before you leave and completely straight within 2 weeks...Hurst Tx JC Penny Salon is the worst. I have so much to add and will tell the entire story on multiple reviews sites...gotta go for now...not letting this ruin my Saturday...already took 3 return visits and saw manager once at 1st visit, then no manager to talk to until today, a month later. No refund, AT ALL. This was supposed to be a curly perm but not enough chemical was used, stylist kept dropping rods on floor. Took 4 hours and to avoid conflict, my 16 yr old said she liked it...but out in the parking lot she said it was not what she wanted. Then the mngr said my daughters hair looks wavy, I stood under the camera and asked her to repeat that! Geez. This is a 4 week long process to even get a manager to discuss the problem, and now its escalated to the JC Penny asst store manager, and even she can't help. The GM apparently will make the final decision on Monday June 25, 2018. I will take this all the way to corporate headquarters. Stand by for updates. ----After about a month the JC Penny store manager authorized a store credit in lieu of a refund. I was up there every week but only got to meet teh assistant store manager. I accepted. I have changed my star rating from 1 to 2 since I got a resolution.

My mother and I both go to this salon specifically because Maricela Garca, a master stylist, is an artist when it comes to cutting, styling and especially color. I've been coloring my hair for at least 20 years, and no one in DFW, Boston, Princeton, NJ, Philadelphia, El Paso, and South Jersey has come close to how gorgeous, flattering, and multidimensional Maricela colors and lightens both of our hair. My mom's hair is grey but was naturally brown, and Maricela creates stunning and natural-looking dark reddish brown hair with strands of different tones of auburn, warm medium brown, and a bit of a warm, dark gold highlights snd lowlights. When I first went to Maricela late in 2015, I was living in New Jersey but visiting Mom, and Maricela created the prettiest multidimensional balyage. I visited Dallas quite frequently, and I'd wait, even if my roots were getting bad from long periods of time, between visits to go to Dallas and have Maricela touch up my blonde hair (it's naturally a dull brown). She's great at balyage, balyage with highlights, and lightening most of my hair with full highlights. Luckily, now I live in nearby Irving. There are at least five different colored fine streaks of blondes and my natural brown on my head. Both Mom and I constantly get compliments on how gorgeous Maricela makes our hair look. As I said, she's an artist. She's also so nice and fun to talk to! I never wind up reading magazines or my books that I bring there because I enjoy conversations with Maricela so much. One final note is that Maricela is incredibly kind and thoughtful. Yesterday, I was talking to her about helping my dad get the right Medicare supplement as she colored, trimmed, and styled my hair, and about thirty minutes ago, she called just to pass on incredibly helpful information regarding specific supplement plans. If you aren't convinced that you should get your hair done by anyone but Maricela, it is my fault for not writing well enough. Don't take all the Friday 2 p.m. appointments, though! Leave at least one every six weeks or so for me!
