This is my absolute favorite place to visit when I’m in Houston. I love to take the historic house tours. The docents are fabulous, and I learn something new every single time. Jane Ellen’s live oak is a must see for everyone!! vid below.

What a wonderful hidden gem of Houston's history! The tour is wonderful and informative, the staff are delightful and knowledgeable, and the park is lovely. Visiting the park and these historic houses is definitely worth your time!

The Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park, is Houston's history museum in Downtown that offers a unique journey through Houston's past. We offer tours to 10 restored historic buildings dating from the city's founding to the oil boom, furnished to reflect past lifestyles. Three of our historic houses are also recognized by UNESCO and we have historic markers throughout the park. Our interactive museum gallery exhibits, expert speaker programs, and cultural celebrations unveil the stories of Houston's diverse population. Celebrate your family's heritage with our beautiful event rental spaces for weddings, proposals, and family reunions. Company, corporate, market, and festival events are also available for rent at our 3-block museum complex.
