I love this place and their mission. Their pricing is frustrating at times however. Today I went to purchase some individually priced items as well as two plain old three ring binders, and two old wooden clipboards, as these are things I would much rather buy used than create more waste buying new. However, these office supplies alone rung up as 28$. I was able to ask to remove them from my purchase and the cashier was very kind and understanding, but still I feel as though that contradicts the concept of a store like texas art asylum. These perfectly usable items will go unused again simply because of a confusing pricing system. I highly recommend checking this place out for bits and bobbles but id love to see a little more care given to the pricing on the business side of things.

Lots of used art supplies, most sold by the pound. Some have set rates like books are $3.99. (Or something like that) Lots of things to make art with , if you have an imagination then this is the place for you. But be mindful when filling the cart, it adds up quick!

best place in the world for crafters, there's so much stuff and it's so insanely cheap. i got 2 hobby lobby scrapbook paper books that said $9 on them for 25 cents each and they are huge

I love this place cause you can find such unique things! I make posters and zines for the org I volunteer for with stuff from here.The last two times I came here the cashier was weirdly hostile. He doesn’t say “screw you” or anything but that’s definitely the vibe he puts off. He was mean to my father when I brought him here on Father’s Day and he was rude to me today when he accidentally charged me for a pot that I had said I didn’t want just cause it was too expensive and tried to refuse to give me a refund and recharge me.It was a simple misunderstanding that could have been handled very smoothly but instead was made into a very uncomfortable situation. Maybe I just caught him on two bad days?
