I’ve never had any problems with Memorial & Kirkwood Shell, ever. They are *the* reasonable station of the area. They know what they have in terms of location and customers, and it sure wouldn’t be prudent to start thieving like that in this day and age. Always the most reasonable priced gas by a couple/few cents. Better than the Valero by Kroger, better than I-10 & Kirkwood, better than I daresay anything with Richmond or DA in the address. Grew up in the area all my life and been going there since i’ve had my first car almost 20 years ago now.Never any wrong/short change tomfoolery or the like. ….Something that should be noted is that a pump that’s been tampered with is more likely to start charging you a few cents early when you start to pump gas, because almost no one will notice that as you aren’t looking directly at the meter when you start pumping gas. This has much less potential of getting caught by your average driver than blatantly ripping off people’s info and going from there. It’s also quite a bit less effort in the long run, and pardon me for saying this…but it’s much smarter of a scheme to pull on drivers,*IF* you’re going to do it at all.***this review is a copy of my response to a nextdoor app post I made, but felt it relevant enough to post on here.***p.s. eh so the old guy at night has a grumper old man attitude sometimes, he’s a grumper of an ol’ man………but show some kindness his way and he will show it right back.

Employee by the name of Reza. Was very rude. Didn’t have a sign saying that they couldn’t accept card payments.

BUYER BEWARE. If I could give this place 0 stars, I absolutely would. I just recently bought myself a new car, a Mini Cooper, which I am entirely unfamiliar with. I need assistance, so I went in and requested the following services: oil change, air in tires, more washing fluid. Easy enough, right? I was given a time estimate of 1.5 hours initially. During that time, I was contacted once by one of the workers, who told me that the filters in my car also needed to be replaced, and that they would each run me about $30 plus the cost of labor. I am aware you can buy them much cheaper yourself, however, I was already there out of convenience, so I agreed. This person also told me that I needed to buy a whole new set of tires that was going to run me $200 each, and I readily declined that service. Fast forward, it's now been 2.5 hours since I dropped off my vehicle, so I decide to call for an update. The guy on the phone then tells me it's going to be another couple of hours. I figure okay, no big deal, they must be pretty busy. I get another call about 30 minutes after that conversation telling me that my car is ready. I asked for a price estimate, and he told me around $180.00. Definitely more than I was expecting to pay for the services I had requested, but there wasn't much I could do now. He asked if I had been told about the conditions of my tires, I said yes and that I was uninterested at this time, and we hung up. I go to pick up my car, and the bill? Almost $300. Remember, I asked for an oil change, air in my tires, and washing fluid. AND I was told over the phone that my estimate was $180, so why was it now a bill more than that? When I questioned Jack about it, he became visually upset and even threw my keys at me across the desk. I asked how an oil change, air in my tires, and washer fluid could equal $300.00. He told me that the "tire repair" alone was almost $200. Tire repair? What tire repair? I told him I never okayed that. He told me I didn't have to, that if they ever found a nail in a tire, they automatically repair it. I told him, why wouldn't you communicate that with me beforehand? You communicated about the filters, why not about the tire? He asked me, so we really need to call you before doing that? I responded, you need to call me before you do ANYTHING to your car. He then switches up and tells me his techs would never do anything without my permission. I told him I never knew about the tire repair, and he ignored me, while actively trying to take my credit card from my hand to pay for the service. The oil change was also almost $100, because they used synthetic, also without my knowledge. "You know your car needs synthetic" is what Jack said to me sarcastically. Actually, I don't, that's why I came here to pay you. I didn't come here to get scammed and taken advantage of. For someone who's "been in business for 30 years," you would think they would have a little more class. They overcharge you at a ridiculous price and for what? Not to help you gain any knowledge of your vehicle, not to help you get the best value for your vehicle, not to provide adequate customer service to a diverse audience. Also, you left nasty handprints on my car. I end up paying $300 and I still have to clean up after you. 0/10 would recommend. Go to GNS off Gessner instead.

It's time to Shell-ve our plans to go to other gas stations, and come here instead and enjoy some mid price gas, which is sometimes honestly higher than mid price. This is the Shell way out west on Memorial, and the prices are average and sometimes a little higher. It's in a good area close to the Energy Corridor, but you can definitely find cheaper gas around town. They're friendly enough and I'll pump here again if needed.
