One of the customers had questions about the type of oils in dog foods. They were able to explain how certain types are broken down by a dog’s digestive system. I’m glad that’s something they pay attention to and this store. I feel like Loyl’s is a good middle ground between flashy expensive for no reason pet stores and petsmart/petsco where they carry some things that no pup should have in their diet.They also have my favorite dog food brand too! Zignature is great (especially the mixed protein bags) and I prefer to buy those when I have the money as opposed to going to Walmart for their low grade kibble. I’ll be back for more beef cheek squares!

This requires me to have him on anxiety meds for grooming appointments.Juan was understanding of these needs and strategized the grooming to address areas first where anxiety would be difficult if the meds wore off. The updates throughout the grooming ease my own concerns.Highly recommend!

Beyond the Dog, LLC
2990 Richmond Ave suite 620, HoustonBen at Beyond the Dog was an amazing trainer. We had bitten off more than we could chew with our husky-mix rescue, Nyx. She came to us completely untrained at about a year old. She was destructive, not a good listener, and overwhelmed our other dog. It became apparent we needed help to get her acclimated to our home and to our mini-Aussie, Titan. We checked many sources and Beyond the Dog was the best fit for us, as they come to the home and work with the dogs in their environment. Ben took our chaos goblin and turned her into a lovely pet with appropriate boundaries. She's still a husky mix, so she doesn't like following the rules, but she'll do it! Best of all, Ben helped us work with Titan as well, who was always extremely wary of visitors. Ben's expertise was such that he picked up on the overall problems that both our pets experienced and addressed them both individually and together. Having guests used to be painful, now our dogs are both polite and at ease.
As word of advice, if your dog's behavioral issues relate to people, you may need to have friends, co-workers, or neighbors available to stop by during your training sessions so that your dog(s) can interact with them. This service is absolutely worth it, but the owners need to be willing to participate and learn the processes that are being used for continual success.
Finally, a few thoughts on Ben and Beyond the Dog's approach for training. Ben had great rapport with our dogs, even our keyed-up little Aussie, but knew when to be firm as well. Both Beyond the Dog's and Ben emphasize positive reinforcement as the primary means of motivation. This was a major selling point for us as we're leery of more aggressive/punitive approaches to training. Ben was very reliable and an excellent communicator for upcoming scheduling as well as recapping the week's lessons. We had no shortage of resources, and still have the ability to ask questions as needed. We are so happy we chose Beyond the Dog for our pets.

Unleashed Retreat
750 Congress St, HoustonThis is a lovely facility! The unlimited package is a fantastic deal and they even can include pick up and drop off services if requested. The staff is always extremely considerate and clearly love the dogs under their care. The facility is always super clean and there are multiple people keeping an eye on the dogs at all times. The staff to dog ratios ensure that it's never overcrowded or unsafe. They provide daily report cards detailing how my dog's day has gone, who she made friends with, and they even include photos, videos, and personal comments. I love watching my dog play on the many live camera feeds they provide. All the dogs must undergo an evaluation to ensure that they are healthy, friendly, and well-adjusted dogs. For my dog who loves nothing more than playing with other dogs, this is the perfect safe alternative to potentially unsafe public dog parks. This has absolutely become my dog's favorite place. She loves coming here, loves the staff, and seems to have quickly become fast friends with several of the other dogs. For me, this has been the perfect solution for keeping my high-energy dog happy and healthy while I recover from an injury. Despite my dog usually being quite nervous with new places and people, she always immediately abandons me in favor of coming here. She gets full body wiggles when she gets picked up for the dog valet/school bus service. I think if I stopped bringing her here she would mutiny. While I had originally planned to leave my dog with Unleashed Retreat for daycare just while I recover from my injury, it's become clear to me that we will continue to be frequent monday-friday visitors. I cannot recommend this place enough!

The police were very present too. I was told it is a common thing to see then at that park.

Mary goes above and beyond for animals in need. She has done so much in the Houston community and surrounding.

Spay Neuter is high on her priority list and she has not missed the “Mark “pulling this event together each and everytime !!

11614 Dumas St, HoustonIt turned out to be a fortuitous experience finding Mr. Platt. I can't overstate how great he is. He also took me on short notice very promptly, even that Sunday is his day off. Very kind, genuine, warm person. He and someone working for him each drove from very far to both pick up my cat and to return her. I was very happy with the pretty wooden box with the lock on it and the card too. I wasn't dressed very well when he brought her back to me, so I was brief and regretted not spending more time on my thank yous. He's just wonderful, and is remarkable in his business.

Johnny Steele Dog Park
2929 Allen Pkwy, HoustonIt's under some construction on the entire left side right now. It's the largest dog park I've ever been too. The puppy lake is really great. It has a shallow ledge too, so a timid dog can get used to the water and depth. I go during the week when it's pretty empty because on weekends it is extremely full and my dog can get overwhelmed pretty quickly. I love this park.
