I went inside during the remodel the other day. The owner had me look at fixing the “secret door”. This place is super cool! I can’t wait to come after the grand opening

Best nightclub and event place in the Houston area. Amazing food, service, and top-notch entertainment. They come from all over this wide wide world!

I don't know what the world you people are talking about .I've been going to Magic Island since I was a child. I thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant in the entertainment I don't know what's wrong with you people that it was one of the most awesome places I've ever been in my life obviously you're too small minded to recognize true genius and talents if it was open today I would be there every other weekend with my kids in my grand kids .would love it if it was still open today. I feel sorry for you people had No adventure in life. What you call outdated I call nostalgic. And part of Houston's history. again open your mind and live a little.

Yes, the place was showing its age, but I am VERY sorry to see it go. The last couple of times I was there the main act was very funny and very good - people were literally rolling in the aisles. Those are travelling acts, so it's hit or miss and some folks would have been lucky or unlucky depending on the night. The food was decent - not what you'd expect from a top restaurant, but the fact that it was followed by a main show plus up to 3 small shows featuring "close up" magic, all of which were fun and interesting, made it a pretty good deal if you didn't drink yourself into a stupor. The bottom line is that this was one of the only truly "different" places you could go in Houston for a nice night out, either for an interesting date or for good family time - the perfect thing when I was tired of the same ole' dinner and a movie. Scott-O, you will be missed.

I'd have to agree that this place is very very out dated. I use to go here on my birthday when I was younger (in the 80's early 90's) and loved it. But I went back here a few years ago to celebrate an anneversary, and was not impressed with the special guest at all. It looked like he had just started his professional career and wasn't much of a showman. The food is what I would expect from an applebee's - not "fine dinning" given the price. I wouldn't go back until i knew they updated the inside, the show, and the whole experience....

Is this place for real? Haha. FINE DINNING! So I went there with bunch of friends today. I felt like I was stuck in the early 80's. This place is so OUTDATED. It seriously needs remodelling. Don't even get me started on the food. I ordered House Salad and Salmon; it was so dry that I couldn't even swallow it. The House Salad seemed like it went through a shredder. It was so fine that my fork couldn't even pick the shreds. Yes. They rushed us with our food since we got there at 8:00 and the magic show was at 9:00. I seriously think the magician/comedian should drop his title because neither his jokes nor his tricks were impressive. They should consider shutting this place down. It would be a favour to mankind. To sum it up, this place is as interesting as watching the paint dry.

Isn't there a way to give a place zero stars... if there was this place would be it. I was here for my girlfriends company holiday party... I would not choose to go here my choice. My first impression of this place was the partially burnt out sign and the run down building, this place probably hasn't been updated since it was built. Then for my biggest pet peeve... paying for valet ($6), when I could park myself in the lot right next to the door. The interior was corny, not to mention falling apart. The theme is supposed to be Egyptian/Arabic, while it may have looked good in 1960, it could use an update. The was food was about what I would expect from a mass produced meal, very heavy on the sauce and everything being over cooked. I feel like I have been ranting about how bad this place was for a little too long now... let me just say that I will not be returning.
