The River Oaks Theatre is a refurbished and gorgeous movie theater that offers a magical, nostalgic experience, transporting guests back to its 1920s-50s character and Houston's humble beginnings. It maintains its original charm with modern commodity, reminiscent of a mini Grauman's Chinese Theatre. As Houston's premiere nostalgic theater, it features an eclectic mix of solid film programming, including art house films, awards-worthy blockbusters, new releases, classic cinema, and cult classics during primetime hours. It provides a dine-in experience with food that is super fresh, delicious, excellent, and satisfactory in quality and quantity, albeit expensive and overpriced. The bar serves bar-quality strong drinks, not watered down. The comfortable seats do not recline. The staff provides unmatched, over-the-top service. The venue also hosts live events like comedy shows and musicians, and features lovely bar spaces to socialize. It is considered the coolest theater in the area, a perfect date location, and a memorable movie experience.
This is the coolest theater I've seen in the area. It kept a lot of it's original character with modern commodity. I felt super comfortable and the food was super fresh and delicious. If you are looking for a good date location, this is definitely it!
