This is likely the oldest Kroger inside the loop and definitely the oldest store in the area. The exterior and interior look ancient and as this area gentrified, it seemingly just stayed the way it is. The same thing can be said for the store on Shepherd and 11th but that store has a much larger selection of everything from veggies to the frozen aisle. Overall, it's an inferior choice to the nearby HEB unless you are right in the area and it's convenient.

Bought a couple of gallons of marked down orange juice. Got home and the OJ was bad. Wow the attitude I got in store was just unbelievable. NO WE DONT TAKE THISE BACK, YOU BOUGHT COUPLE OF DAYS AGO AND UTS MARKED DOWN when I asked, even thought it was marked down, should it not be for its purpose. NO, ITS MARKED DOWN So your marked down stuff does not have to be fit for its purpose? NO ITS MARKED DOWN When my wife tried to talk to the store representative, the crs said and who WHO ARE YOU The store is on Veterans Memorial in North Houston and the crs is Bernadette. Just waiting for the store manager for over 10 minutes so far

Really unfortunate that this is the closest grocery store to most people in Garden Oaks/Oak Forest. The parking lot is usually trashed (smashed bottles, carts left EVERYWHERE) and there are often some of the worst drivers I've seen in Houston trying to find parking. Inside is clean and usually pretty well-stocked. The produce has a tendency to go bad almost as soon as you leave the store, which is disappointing when compared with the long-lived HEB produce. Staff is polite. Unfortunately they frequently have energy companies/cable companies posted up at the entrance or in the store to harass people doing their shopping. There's a guy that posts up in the front sometimes with a grill who sells fresh BBQ ribs, and they smell great. I'll definitely plan on trying them next time I see him.

Another update:I had a panhandler approach me INSIDE OF THE STORE. They need to close this store. Seriously. The ice cream freezer was broken for close to a year but they kept selling ice cream that had frozen over. I had a credit on my Kroger account due to one of their "Eff ups". They claimed they couldn't find my credit. The manager and the C WORD at the security booth treated my like I was an Effing criminal. Corporate office told me they could see the credit and reached out to the manager who never called me back nor did he respond to corporate. He smelled like booze. I hope this store closes and hope the people who work here are SOL finding another job dealing with the public because they clearly hate people.

They should call it ghetto Kroger. Kroger sucks over all but this one is exceptional suck. P U. No service. No beer. Hood rat looking store. Bathrooms are back in the service area and filthy and gross. Why do people shipping here. It's terrible. It's expensive. Overpriced. And they can't afford cashiers. I always see one or two registers open with staff. They want you to check yourself out Fucke em. Just walk out with it. Bill Burr does. So do I. Fucke you Kroger. Get your s*** together. Until then. FREE BEER.

This location needs to be closed down. Homeless people hanging outside the store begging for money and even following you to your car. Not to mention the parking lot Is pitch black ... The store is always a mess and cashiers are so slow to checking you out. Save yourself the trip.

Love the neighborhood aspect of this store, and love the people who work here. The quality of the fresh protein offered here is so awful--whether chicken or beef--so awful. Tough, no flavor. Thank goodness for the new HEB close by.

PROS:Near other shopping stores Parking:plenty Price: average as other store Staff: most of the time friendly CONS:-Hate the new carts, water/ dog food does not fit -only have 1 cashier available and you are being constantly asked if you want to do self check out ( feels like the store is getting me as an employee except I'm not getting paid)- usually only one bagger who is also getting carts from parking

What tf is wrong with this Kroger. 2 cashiers on duty and the lace is busy. They keep telling you Go to the self checkout....... F*** off. If I wanted a job at Kroger I'd apply for a job. Losers! Zero Customer Service.
