The JW Marriott Houston Downtown is a historic hotel in a fantastic downtown location, offering easy walkability to many attractions, restaurants, and parks. The rooms are consistently described as clean, comfortable, well-appointed, and wonderful. Service is frequently highlighted as exceptional, excellent, friendly, and thoughtful, with particular praise for the front desk and bar staff. The hotel provides a great range of amenities, including a restaurant and bar in the lobby and in-room dining with tasty menu options, though room service food sometimes arrives less than hot. A significant and recurring issue is ongoing street construction directly in front of the hotel, which makes vehicle access very difficult and inconvenient for guests. The main entrance on Main Street is closed to vehicles, creating a complicated and stressful drop-off situation on Rusk Street near train tracks, which is described as a significant safety hazard and risky, especially for those with limited mobility. Valet service is available but received mixed reviews, with some operational frustrations noted. Some minor drawbacks mentioned include a noticeable musty smell in the hotel, hard water in the rooms, and occasional technical issues like televisions not working. Despite these hiccups, the overall experience is very good, making it a place many guests would consider staying at again for both business and leisure.
Highly recommend this Marriott. Friendly staff, excellent housekeeping, awesome bartenders and great rooms. Really not one negative remark. I enjoyed the stay and will definitely be back.

The bathtub was great. Lots of construction going on. I imagine it will be a 5 star review once that's finished.
