Don’t apply here for help. They will make you send in all your information to tell you they are out of funds. If you aren’t “Jew-ish” they won’t help you. They aren’t helping any black ppl only white jew-ish. They know they aren’t the real jews but they are going to pretend to be. Ish. Idk why 211 is even giving out there info if they only going to help theirs. They are scamming for ppls information. Thieves and Scanmers! Someone called for me to apply and they knew they were supposedly out of funds. It’s the 7th of the month as well so the month has just began.

I have some good things and bad things to say about the JCC. So make sure you read the entire review. Firstly I had a terrible life experience then I lost my job. Someone told me about the JCC so I reached out to them. I was assigned a therapist at a discounted rate. Which the therapy alone was an absolute life saver. I really had a difficult time over coming my situation and dealing with the aftermath of my circumstances. My therapist was excellent, patient, kind and really helped me through a long process of healing. The JCC also provided some financial assistance for a couple of months and provided H‑E‑B grocery cards, which was excellent. So thankful and blessed. I did over time gain employment, however making very little money which is extremely hard to tell anyone or discuss. I was truthful to the JCC that I was not able to pay all my bills, but was better off than being unemployed. Here is the part that breaks my heart. They told me my services were ending unless I paid 120.00 per week or 480.00 per month for therapy. Which I did not have the money to do that, obviously can't even pay all my bills. After calling and emailed the assistance department "Justin" who ignored emails from me for weeks and ignored phone calls as well. I had to keep calling the front desk because I so needed my therapy and didn't want the rug pulled out from under me. You have to understand that therapy is all I've had for sometime to help me. NOPE they did not care, it was all about the money and after being ignored for days in end he sent me an email and want all my private personal bank statements and paycheck. Which I provided my check stub, and still no answer or phone call back to me. They pretty much didn't care and showed no sensitivity or care for my mental well being by stripping away my therapy. Cut me off, and ended the only thing I've had to help me. I find it cruel, and harmful to my mental state of being. I have been fearful of relapsing and slipping back into depression after being treated like I'm nothing. And don't get me wrong I was thankful for the good they did. But his behavior and stripping away my services was cruel and hurtful to me, and I pray everyday I don't become depressed like I was. I will admit I'm not completely well, and I really needed that help to complete my therapy. Shame on your JCC and Justin for treating me like I'm nothing, especially knowing my circumstances and what I've gone through. I have all the proof in emails that I begged him to talk to me and not to do this to me. Complete silence. Be careful.

If you are not from an influential Jewish background and or very wealthy please Do Not Waste your time! I have a strong feeling Adele needs a new career path as she looks down on us regular folks. Dealing with Adele is like dealing with a Lifetime Movie and we know how those end. STAY AWAY!!

I've been here numerous times for grief counseling a few years ago with Ivy Ickes and have gotten financial help before too. I needed help with rent, bills, gas, and food, and Becky George really helped me in my time of need. Thank you so much for the HEB gift cards and the check. This is going to help a lot.

I was really dissapointed with their child therapy services. We were on the waiting list for months, then at some point we were taken off the waiting list for an unknown reason, and then when I spoke with the head of the department we were placed back on the list. We eventually were assigned a therapist, but she doesn't take insurance. I stated I wanted to use my insurance, and she said she would let them know but would still like to meet. OK, cool, so I pay out of pocket. Met her, just didn't feel like it was a good fit, which I thought was fine because, again, INSURANCE. Let her know that I would prefer to be with someone who take insurance, she seemed shocked by this, told me because I requested someone who takes insurance we would be added back to the list, but put at the bottom! So pretty much because we wanted to use insurance we were rejected.... I ended up speaking with the dead of the department about how this doesn't seem professional, and he just kept wanting to know why I didn't like their therapist.... It didn't matter how many times I mentioned we wanted to go through insurance, it was like he was choosing to ignore that I wanted to reduce out of pocket expenses. He stated the same thing, since I turned down the therapist offered to me, we had to start over again from the bottom of the wait list... At this point, even though I have heard amazing reviews of the therapists there who take insurance. I will go somewhere else. Don't bother requesting someone who takes insurance, they wont listen, and will punish you.

When my mother was in the hospital in Houston members of Jewish Family Services and the Chaplaincy program visited regularly. They were like family to us. What a superb program.

Nice staff giving services to community. Emphasis on security is understandable but jarring; sad that it is felt necessary
