The staff were great.
The facility was very clean. All the animals, that I saw seemed healthy and well taken care of. My only complaint would be the price of adopting a puppy vs an adult.
I would go there again, if I were in need of adopting. I'm very happy with the (so far unnamed) puppy I adopted. Great thanks to the staff. This was my first time adopting.

Owner of two cats is in the hospital. Family member and I are trying to get help to these cats as they have been in the apartment for 5 days...most probably with no food or water. Was told by first rep that someone (family) would need to give consent to get the animals. Call dropped while conferencing call to family member. Called back with family member (who lives in another state). New rep answered phone. Told us they could not enter someone's home even with consent of family to rescue the cats. Was told that a cruelty report would have to be filed and then the owner would not be able to get her cats back. In the meantime, the owner loses the cats or the cats die if they are not already dead. I thought the purpose of this organization was to rescue animals. Apparently not.

We gotta do better when it comes to animals seriously! They don’t care about animals all they care about is a check… when you go to bed at night yall should be ashamed! Start trying to actually help the animals instead of euthanize them!!!!!and when people call and report actually do something …

I reported that my ex-neighbor was neglecting and treating his cats horribly, I got one call about it and it was a guy just asking for some details but nothing has happened since, this was over a year ago. Now one of those cats isn't alive anymore likely due to the owner... thanks HSPCA for failing those poor babies.

They were very helpful with taking in strays and also being a No Kill shelter unless the animal is in terrible conditions (cancer, broke spine, diseased etc).
So Me and My girlfriend found a stray white/black domestic short hair that fell into a drain at a burger king. (the drain was actually very clean/3 feet deep and the cat was only there for 5 mins). We both were unable to take care of the cat. My girlfriend had a dog and as for me, my father dont allow any cats in the house. Which was unfortunate because the Cat that we saved was very quiet and friendly. (we named it burger king) The cat is still seems to be a kitten (maybe 4 months or so old). Even if we had the cat for 1 day. We really enjoyed its company and it was one of the most quietest and calmest cats, I have ever seem in my life. I am just posting this in hopes that someone will see this review and adopt that wonderful sunshine. Burger king deserves a loving home! there is some pictures of burger king!

My wife found a dog late last night wandering the road. He was a puppy with a serious medical condition. We called over 20 "adoption services". The one's who actually answered the phone all said sorry, full, call again. We called Houston SPCA and explained our situation. After sending in some pics, they welcomed the dog into their care within an hour or so. They will provide the medical care needed and then assist with adoption. The entire staff I came in contact with from the customer service agent to the techs at the desk went above and beyond to be nice, caring, and professional. My family will start donating right away. Thanks Houston SPCA!!!!!!!!!!!

they won’t take your animal unless you call the 24 hour free ambulance pick up for all of you people wanting to drop off animals that you find. You will get the runaround. I think a lot of these volunteers just need their probation hours.

Not very helpful at all. As we all know Houston temperatures are extremely dangerous, and animals ( especially homeless puppies) should not be out there. I tried getting assistance for a 6 month old puppy that I found abandoned at the park. The temperature today is 102 and according to them, I need to make an appointment to “ re home” a puppy. Why? When it is Not mines and it is suffering from the heat out there.(less than twenty pounds) The poor puppy can suffer a heatstroke and nothing is being done to help.
They gave me four different phone numbers ( all useless) and none of them wanted to even pick up the poor puppy. Not even Animal control. They all gave me the run around. I already rescued a Chihuahua and two cats so, I cannot do it.
It brakes my heart that None of this so called “ Rescue or Animal Control “ were doing a dang thing to help that creature.
I understand tax money and donations are not enough to help this poor creatures.

Do NOT surrender your healthy dog here. We had a baby that was allergic to dogs. Since we adopted our dog 3 years ago from SPCA, they were able to take him back in. I’ve checked the website everyday for 5 weeks and they still haven’t posted him as “adoptable.” They make you sign a paper at surrender saying they won’t tell you what happened because they clearly euthanize these owner surrendered dogs. Find another place to have your dog rehomed!!!

I was donating dog items. The people were friendly and helped me empty the truck and gave me a receipt for taxes.
