They send spam mail to my home asking me to register for classes. I don't know how they know where I live.

Im new to the city and new to hcc, today I visited the campus since I wanted to enroll for fall. You get to the campus and there is no sign in sight to let new students that don't know the campus where to go and the people working there they don't even know the campus they work at or they gave me wrong instructions, idk. The point is, they know there are new students coming they should put more effort in setting them up for success, not making them walk around their mini campus like beheaded chickens without knowing where to go! I was not the only one lost! DO BETTER

DO NOT COME TO ANY HCC CAMPUS!!!
(Financial aid office)
This sad excuse for a college is like dealing with the government they make you jump through so many unnecessary hoops and afterwards still can’t get the correct information or assistance you need. I attended HCC years ago and I decided to take an a continuing education course(Human Resources). I was told to enroll in HCC in order to apply for financial aid and the TPEG which I did and that alone was a hurdle since their website repeatedly did not recognize the password or user ID info I created. I was eventually provided a link and I could not access it called HCC and was told I owed $629 and it was pending?!? I asked the rep why do I owe $629?.. she stated thats I need to pay for the class before I get the TPEG grant?!? That makes no sense at all. I’m changing my financial aid info and attending another college.

My family member and I visited the financial aid office because we were having issues with the website and needed assistance. We hoped to speak with someone in person for some help. Since I had recently applied and didn’t have an ID yet, I intended to sign in using the “no ID Number yet” option on the computer to see a financial aid advisor.
Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The lady at the front desk, who had orangish blondish short hair, was extremely rude and unhelpful. She told me not to sign in and refused to let me see anyone, speaking to us in a snarky and condescending manner. This was very frustrating, especially since we were trying to get ahead with our aid before the fall semester.
In contrast, all the other employees were professional and helpful. I was able to see an academic advisor the same day from a different department using the same sign-in option without an ID number, and it was no problem. However, the financial aid department’s poor attitude really ruined my day.
Just a warning to anyone who may have to go to this department: beware that you may face attitude. Don't let it ruin your day. Be persistent, do what you have to do, and report names if you must. The unprofessionalism is unacceptable. We are paying tuition to get an education there, and we deserve to be treated with respect.

Great locations with student parking lots. Not sure why people are complaining about parking. Glad my college student is able to take summer classes to transfer to her out-of-state college. Need to research on the professors though. Some are good; some are not; especially some professors are very hard to understand. It’s worse when those teach online classes then get nasty when students ask him to repeat!!

Would definitely never attend here again. I had the worst experience of being bullied and dealings with prejudice professors and hackers. Made multiple reports and nothing was ever done. Made me quit school and go back to doing what I was doing before.

I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go to school here.
The parking is horrible, I was an hour late on the first day of classes because it took me an hour to find a parking spot. I see all the employees get special parking and make it easy for them to park but the students get the worse parking.
Where it’s located is on the bad side of town, I am so afraid to walk to classes from my car and I was so nervous someone was going to pop out and hurt me.
The disability office, one of the employees are so rude and a jerk to his students with disabilities. I was told in the spring of 2020 that I was going to move up to the next class because my grades were good. I went into my profile to register for the fall and they decided at last minute that I got a failing grade for one of my classes. I called the disability office and brought my concerns to them because of coronavirus I wasn’t able to go there in person and talk to them. I spoke to the guy on the phone and told him my concerns and his response back was (if you failed the class then your not college material and you shouldn’t be here then) my mom yelled at him and said you need to show more compassion and respect to people. (He said if your daughter is failing then she shouldn’t be in college) if I’m not college material then why did I make all As and Bs in my child development class. That’s what else is the problem is the employee in the disability office, he’s so rude and gets mad that he doesn’t want to be there to help people and instead wants the money. Anytime someone would ask him a question or ask for help, he would turn and give dirty looks at them. When someone came in for help that was deaf, he used his hands to say go away. I felt that was so wrong of him to do that to a deaf person. I felt that was crossing the line.
I decided to transfer to another college because I was so tired of driving all over the place to go to school. I got everything done at the new school but all I needed was my original transcripts to start classes but every time I would call for them to help me. They would constantly pass the bucket on me and would make up every excuse in the book not to transfer my original transcripts to the other college. It took a month for me to transfer them. I called the college and a lady picked up and I explained to her what I have been trying to do and she said (honey don’t worry, we can get those transferred over within 2 days tops) i was so happy and relieved because no one wanted to help me.
I transferred to a different school because I was tired of driving to different locations of this school.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go to any locations of HCC.
1 star for this school.

This community college is trash!!! It took emailing the chancellor to get my daughter fully enrolled into this college. They don’t assign specific academic counselors to the students so questions are answered differently everytime. The professors have horrible etiquette, one professor stated on the first day of school that students can’t miss any quizzes or exams and she didn’t even care if you were going through chemotherapy…..how unprofessional and emotionally obtuse can someone be? When students have questions arise or extenuating circumstances no one can give adequate answers. I.e. parent dies is there a bereavement policy for students and is there a minimum requirements for the instructors to work with them in this situation. Called to ask and the employee could not answer the question. The professors do not care about the success of the students and no one is holding the professors accountable for their behavior in classrooms.

Not a good place to get educated. First of all I tried to enroll to a continuing education program since last year it took me a whole year paying for those program courses when the class was almost to be concluded I heard some of the classmates saying they got financial aid and some of us didn’t I got angry of that because starting at the beginning they didn’t told be I could be eligible to apply for the TPEG whatever. The whole class I couldn’t learn anything just waiting every single assignment and instruction from the professor but didn’t use this class to be prepare for the Commercial license on the field I was reaching. So I got disappointed that I have to learn on a small amount of time ONLINE! on an better price knowing that they were offering after the program I got graduated another one expensive and to get the same license. Don’t waste your time you guys could do more than this better certification and better knowledge god bless you all! Other thing to talk about I’m trying to enroll another program and they were not able to help me getting financial aid so I tried to call them back many times and didn’t respond.

If you have to do 90% of schoolwork online you would hope they would have better internet speeds than 2mbps

I called not too long ago asking one simple question not making anyone do hurdles to help me and I don’t understand why people have an attitude this early in the day and talk to people who might be interested in joining your school and say things like “like I just said …” there is no need for the sly attitude. Do better at communicating. You’re trying to get people to join your school and your community, not shy away and look elsewhere.

This school deserves 0 stars. I’m a transfer student from ACC in round rock. I submitted my application for HCC beginning of December. To make a long story short, they sat on my application for over a month. Then my transcripts until I came up to the school several times (from Austin, Tx mind you) before anything was done. Here we are 1/18/2024 and I’m still not enrolled in any classes nor has my transcript been evaluated ect. No one ever has answers and continues to tell me I have to wait. The semester won’t wait but I’m suppose to. Because of HCC’s negligence I’ll have to start the semester late at San Jacinto. But I’m already having much better results. Also San Jacinto is ranked like 36 in Texas and HCC 71… go ravens.

If I could, I would give this institution negative stars. I implore you to see admittance to any other college or university. Dallas College offers online classes like many other higher education institutions. Though HCC seems like the affordable option to better your life through education, at its core, it is an institution of moral corruption. Their graduation rate sits at 16.5% (out of 100%) and if you read their policies, you will see that they do not encourage students to advocate for themselves. They do not want to assist their students; they want to take advantage and keep the money. From deans to professors, they are only looking to keep their jobs and gaslight the students. As an educator and someone who works at a university, I am passionately encouraging you to seek education elsewhere. This will only be a waste of money and time.
