A beautiful escape from the city within the city. I enjoyed a short nature walk through the Arboretum. I enjoyed watching the children and seeing all of the beautiful plants and murals along the way. I look forward to returning to as the education center was closed by the time I arrived. I was told there was a butterfly exhibit which is exciting. There were also lots of fall themed activities for folks to enjoy. I cannot believe it was free to visit.

Would recommend this place for a nice stroll in the early morning. Around 7:15, so you are still early but not waiting in your car for the gate to open. Not much space for too many vehicles until the gates open.
Once inside, there are many paths to choose from, a nature center for learning, and a kids area that looks pretty cool. The kids area is like a learning playground. Several sections with active participation, while hanging out in nature.
I walked the outer loop and it is a nice longer trail. I did it in about an hour and 45 minutes with side quests along the way.

I am totally disappointed. The place is beautiful to visit and do amateur nature photography but being able to use your camera costs 125 USD. Which is exaggerated considering that not all of us who like photos are professionals or sell photos. What's the point of advertising it as free if in the end they charge you for everything, even the parking...now I understand why there are no published photos of the place on the internet.

Love going here with my young son. The nature scape is wonderful for kids to play. Beautiful plants. It’s a place to see an abundance of wildlife.

Update 7/20 - outer loop is cleared with some puddles near 610 side. lots, and I mean lots of mosquitos on the trail. Not busy at 10 am, lots of parking.
Original review - Great place for walking and nature watching. Trails are less crowded probably due to paid parking. Can get busy after 9am on weekends.
Sections of the outer loop on the 610 side will be muddy after rain.
Lots of mosquitos right now (May 2024), so preparing accordingly.

It’s a shame cars get broken into here all the time. Never before was my car broken into but a recent Saturday morning there I came back to my car and saw my window broken. There was another car in the same lot with lots of glass on the ground. I’ve seen glass before in the parking lot and seems someone is targeting this place. It’s a shame that the arboretum started charging money for parking but won’t at least hire a security staff on a golf cart to keep an eye on the lot.

07/2024 The grounds are beautiful and shaded. These trails are arguable the most pleasant in Houston for walking and exploring. From the man-made ponds to the toddler exploration background, everything is well thought out and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a leisurely walk. Parking as of today is $6 and the parking lot can get quite crowded during peak hours.

We had one morning in Houston and decided to spend our time here and it did not disappoint!! The nature play scape playground and indoor classrooms were so fun for my three boys and the trail we walked gave me the dose of beauty I had been craving!

Hidden oasis in the middle of Houston! A friend invited me to go walking with her family out by the galleria. Her description of the place did not do it justice!! There are many trails to walk with great views. We passed butterflies, huge crickets, different types of birds, ponds filled with Lily Pads and turtles, bunnies, armadillos, and I'm sure there are more. I've been back 3 times and recommend to anyone who will listen.
