Terrible Experience at Ylem
I recently stayed at Ylem with my wife, and it was an incredibly disappointing experience.
The cleanliness of the room was unacceptable. Our sheets were dirty and stained, and the bed itself was not clean. We found the overall condition of the room to be really filthy, which made it impossible for us to stay there.
Due to these issues, we decided not to spend the night and left to find a different hotel. I cannot recommend Ylem to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay.
The person at the front desk was friendly and understood the situation.

It's a nice hotel for the price. The employees are really nice! The breakfast, included, is good. The location, if you're going to any of the hospitals (MD Anderson for us), is convenient. There's a grocery store very nearby, a Target close by & lots of restaurants. I would recommend it. We will use them again.

Was there for my birthday early October 2024. The Lobby was decked out for Halloween which was awesome! Our room was very clean and most importantly so was the bathroom. There wasn't an off switch for the bathroom fan so it ran all night which was very odd. There was no shelving in the shower nor a toilet seat lid which were also odd. Breakfast was free. Very tasty I might add. Staff very friendly and welcoming. The microwave wasn't plugged in and nowhere near a plug so you would have to pick it up and move it. The closet rack was very cool and retro but not enough hangers. Only 3 hangers for 2 people didn't work. There was a desk but had shelving so you couldn't sit comfortably and work. The unit where the mini fridge and microwave had fake drawers which was strange so you lived out of your suitcase. Great location within walking distance of NRG Stadium and plenty of places to each and even grocery shop if needed.

Catastrophic experience.
Afternoon reception ok, but nothing more.
On the other hand, the night reception is incredibly rude. She does not respond when someone says hello to her, and allows herself to stare at customers from head to toe when she is outside her reception. An attitude that may have its place in a prison, but certainly not at the reception of a hotel.
Too bad because a little sympathy could have made us forget the cockroach in the bathroom, the stained towels, and the bed which was exceptionally dirty.
To flee

FRAUD!!!
Had to leave early and was told I‘ll get a refund. Two months later I‘m still waiting for it. No replies from the hotel.
Update 09/24: Still no refund, after seven months. Going there asking why, the people at the front desk keep telling me they’re not in charge and will have someone reach out to me. This then never happened. This place is the worst!! Read other reviews - there are many people with similar experiences. This „hotel“ owes me 350$. And I did not even talk about the dirt in the rooms.
Rooms: Dirt everywhere. Better than sleeping in the streets, but wow, crazy dirty.
Safety: There are people constantly checking their access to the doors. I had it locked all the time, hoping no one can break in.
Noteworthy details: If they tell you that you will receive a refund: demand it right away. Before leaving. These people will just keep your hard earned money. Disgusting.

Budget friendly hotel ? in downtown Houston. I stayed for 4 weeks and had no regrets. The breakfast is nice (not many options but it's fine for the price of the hotel). The staff are warm and nice ? too. There are several stores within walking distance of the Hotel including Target. friendly hotel ?.

I called with multiple questions and Mr. Brandon answered every last one of them to the best of his ability he even went so far as to offer me recommendations without me having to ask. Mr. Brandon has excellent customer service.

Never stay here!! We booked 4 months in advance to find out our room was cancelled the day of our arrival as we were on the plane from Ireland. Upon arrival in Houston, I called the receptionist, who was utterly useless saying they had guests staying on for longer so they had priority over the room so our booking was cancelled. No apology or anything. The receptionist (if you could even call her that) then proceeded to hang up on me without saying anything. I’d never recommend this place to anyone!

It wasn't clean, the towels were stained and the room smelt like marijuana and mould.
There were people loitering out the front at all hours, which created an unsettling feeling.
For the price, it was absolutely terrible and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone - ever.

I have been staying at this hotel for over 3 years, I always have a great experience. The staff are overwhelmingly friendly & try to help as much as they can. They know me by name every time I walk in they’re so happy to see me, that makes us feel special!

Be cautious of this scam: they charge you for a stay even if you did not receive a room. When you check in, they claim you are signing a $50 deposit for damages on your credit card, but you are actually signing an agreement to pay an undefined rate. The receptionist mentioned they don’t know the fees yet, which is highly unusual.
I canceled my room upon arrival because it was so moldy you couldn’t breathe. They couldn't provide any check-out documentation or invoice for the first night, yet they charged me around $500 for three nights I didn't stay. This is currently under investigation with my credit card company.
The receptionist is very unfriendly and part of this fraud. She claims the General Manager is unavailable, even though she is constantly on the phone with the manager. You are told to contact the manager or that the manager will contact you, but this never happens. I'm surprised they are still in business.

Avoid this place at all costs. I dont think I have ever written a bad review but feel compelled to write this to let other people know about how bad this hotel is.
Would have to be the worst hotel I have stepped into. The room was full of mould, people loitering outside the lobby. A broken car window smashed in the car park. Room lock felt very unsafe. Worst hotel i have ever stepped into. Had to leave at 11.30pm to find alternative accomodation. Still waiting for a refund, staff lied about it being 'processed'. This place needs to be investigated.
Rooms: Full of mould, damp. Dirty.
Safety: Unsafe, smashed car window in the carpark within the hotel grounds
Noteworthy details: Unsafe lock on hotel room door. Did not feel safe to stay, had to leave the same day of arrival

Terrible experience. Originally planned to stay for 3 nights but had to check out after one night due to a power shortage and lack of A/C caused by a tropical storm. I was assured I would be reimbursed for the two unused nights. However, after multiple calls over the following month, not only was I not reimbursed, but I was also charged for an additional night. They refused to admit their mistake or take responsibility for the erroneous charge. I had to contact my bank and initiate a claim to resolve the issue. Avoid booking with them for your own peace of mind.

Came here for a two-night stay for the Copa América on the Fourth of July. Hotel itself was decent. For what's advertised and my own expectations, I was satisfied. The front desk staff was friendly whenever we had to approach them. The room was kept relatively tidy when we checked in –no issues with that– although my only complaint is that nobody ever came to clean the room the two days we were here. The shower was... weird to say the least. Only piping hot water came out, almost impossible to shower. Walking from here, there's quite a few options for you to eat and it's also close to the stadium, so that was massively helpful for us.
Nearby activities: Lots of places to go out to eat in the vicinity. Also relatively close to the NRG Stadium, 15-20 mins walking.
