This place is horrible! My wife and I went to stay here for our Anniversary and it was all a disaster! Valet swings your open almost before your car can stop and asks for your keys. The desk attendant lied about the room we paid for and requested and put us on a lower level. We were not happy but took it anyway. When we finally get to the room, we realized that the light didn’t work as well as the refrigerator! We also paid for a city view, not a CVS view. I could’ve saved my money if I wanted see people do donuts in a closed drugstore parking lot. Thi was a horrible experience! DONT GO HERE!!

I did a staycation for my birthday and it was lovely experience. I booked with a 3rd party and they over booked the hotel and I could not get the room, I wanted. But the staff did above thier duty to extend a pleasant experience and have me a great deal to make up for my room. The location is near great restaurants and clubs. Very nice, I think I will do it again next year.

The hotel lobby is modern, and the front desk was very friendly. I stayed in their King Suite, and the view was great. The Suite is clean but needs maintenance, like a coat of paint and a draining shower. The mattress and pillows should feel less like a board, and the thread count should be higher for linens for a good night's rest. That is my preference. The hotel bar is nothing fancy, with a basic menu. It may fulfill your needs if you don't want to leave the hotel. Overall, the hotel is in a great location, near fine dining and shopping in the Galleria, with easy access off of Westheimer. If you are looking for clean accommodations with reasonable prices, this may serve your purpose. This is the view from the King Suite.

This was my first time staying at the Hotel Derek and my 3 days there weren't bad compared to the many other hotels around Houston that are deplorable. For the most part my experience was good. I would say there were a few complaints that really stood out to me during my stay. The first being the exact location of the hotel I am not fond of. It's a pain to get in and out of the hotel and one particular day I drove to the front to pick up my mother and Valet told me to move my car to 3 different spots in a span of 15 minutes. They completely consume the entire front of the hotel and if you're not getting Valet then you're really not welcome to park there & wait on a guest. Another incident was my bathroom in my room was occupied and I went downstairs to use the one in the lobby and as I was taking care of business the security guard came in there and started playing 20 questions with me while I was on the toilet. I was furious over that. Lastly one night late we got back parked our car and as we walked to the elevator we had to walk through a hazy cloud of weed or pot smoke that the security guard was puffing out from his gold cart, gosh forbid if we had a real emergency I wonder how successful that would be in a stoned blitzed state. No other complaints other than that.Nearby activities: I like the fact it is in the Galleria area so there is quite a lot to do around there which is nice. Also CVS across the street is convenient.Food & drinks: The breakfast was included with the room however they could offer more variety than the same plate every day.

Stayed a week while working in Houston and I had to request 3 times (yes, you have to request to clean your room) to clean my room. Property is not well maintained, staff is stubborn (had to repeat 4 times to front desk I needed someone to clean the room), breakfast that is included in the “resort fee” (far from being a resort) is subpar… staff is a mix of long tenured (that like me miss the good old days of Derek) and newer that are unhappily servicing you. Really disappointed, do not recommend to stay here.Rooms: Are old decor and A/C system not working.

This is my first review ever! The staff is super friendly and nice. The room was so terrible. I’m so afraid to touch anything at this hotel. I’m sure Alexander the Great stayed at this old and outdated hotel. My apologies I mean motel. Wait Motel 6 is actually cheaper and nicer. So many bad reviews the hotel establishment not even commenting. If I could stand at the door and catch my round with the owner I would feel much better. This hotel is so hyped up for no reason at all. This hotel feel like the movie 1408. There are examples of things I grew in my Petri dish when I was in middle in the restroom. I’m sure rats from the black plagued ran through here passing viruses and what not. I’m going to sleep angry because it’s midnight and I already paid. I have no idea how this hotel is open. Please look at my photos. These photos don’t do any Justice!

Don’t be fooled. All that glitters isn’t gold.I booked a stay here for my birthday and was sorely disappointed.Valet is spotty. I guess that depends on whether or not they have an employee that day.& You have to pay for parking, either way. They don’t offer room service, or any of the other amenities they advertise on their website.& Now over 60 days later, I still haven’t been refunded my incidental fees.Which for my stay should’ve been $100.BUT, instead they charged me an incidental fee for each night stayed.& They’re trying to blame my financial institution for the delay.I’ve called numerous times to no avail.I’m either rerouted or talk to someone who has no earthly idea what’s even going on.They said they have my account marked and that someone would get back to me.Yet, I’m still waiting.Houston has numerous different & amazing boutique hotels.Save your time & money.Go somewhere else, anywhere else!!Lesson learned, for sure!!I won’t ever stay here again nor will I recommend anyone else stay here.Absolutely awful!!Noteworthy details: Disappointing to say the least!!

Before you finalize any booking, take a moment to visit ʜᴏᴛᴇʟᴅᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ It turned my almost-expensive trip into a budget-friendly escape. I had the incredible opportunity to spend a week at Hotel Derek with my fiancé, and I must say it was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the luxurious experience it offered. The outdoor pool was a refreshing oasis, perfect for relaxing and unwinding. The room service was impeccable, ensuring our every need was met with promptness and a smile. The attention to detail in every aspect of our stay was truly remarkable. Hotel Derek provided us with a week of pure indulgence and relaxation, making our time there absolutely unforgettable. Without a doubt, this is a five-star destination that exceeded all expectations.

This hotel is horrendous. Do not book this hotel if you’re looking for a luxury stay. The pictures they post are CATFISH. They had baby roaches in the bathroom, the ceiling had that old nasty popcorn look. The bathtub looked like it’s barely cleaned! We were scared to even sleep here. I’d give this place 0 stars if I could. We spent $350 just for a motel 6 basically. Matter of fact, I’ve been to motel 6s cleaner and nicer than this hotel.Noteworthy details: Disgusting.

I am truly distraught after my most recent experience here. Hotel Derek used to be my absolute favorite place to stay. In fact, I would sometimes book a night stay just to enjoy the atmosphere. I am sad to say that time has passed. For years, I have fondly remembered the wonderful scent of this hotel. I was appalled that when I arrived, it no longer had it's signature scent. Now, the hotel smells like dust and old carpets. What was fun and colorful decor is now drab and unkempt. The staff member, Jamesha, was rude and incorrectly booked us (which meant we were nearly overcharged until she finally listened to what I was saying). The room's A/C was set to 68⁰, but it felt like 75⁰. According to others in the elevator, we weren't the only ones with that issue.Unfortunately, this hotel is now very overpriced for the sub-par service it provides. I wouldn't recommend visiting.Noteworthy details: The A/C in the rooms are not functional.

I would never stay here again. The pictures on the website are very misleading. Upon check in the manager who stands in the middle had horrible customer service. She was rude and had a nasty attitude. Was quick to say someone else could help me check in. I had to switch rooms because the first room had an awful smell, there was writing on the wall, stains on the wall, stains on the thermostat, full handprints on the ottoman, the bed frame looked as if someone chewed the corner of it, there was a crack in the shower wall, stains on the carpet, and stains all around the tub. The second room was no better with a leaking tub, stains still on carpet, crumbs on the carpet on side the bed. They have the nerve to charge daily for valet and for general parking (never stayed somewhere you had to pay to park at) plus an amenity fee and a $200 deposit. It’s overrated and overpriced. The pool area had rusted fixtures. The valet was generous though to help us after our car had been broken into while we had dinner 10 minutes away. For the price the rooms should be kept up better than that to call it a deluxe room. Overall this hotel does not care about cleanliness and the upkeep of their rooms and that is disgusting. I am highly disappointed with this stay will never book again if I had the option I’d rate a zero.Rooms: Dirty and unkept.

Service was not great the only person helpful was the cashier for breakfast. Our lunch didn't arrive for one of our conference days and it took 30 minutes to get a salad without nuts. The meeting rooms were average and front desk staff pleasant but things just didn't go to plan. Location wasn't bad but a shuttle to airport would have been nice it was expensive taking Lifts to go to Hobby.

This hote a lot nicer online than it is in person. The quality definitely does not represent the price on my opinion.Self parking was $28…and you have to walk around the outside of the build along the Main Street to get to the hotel entrance with all your luggage. The pool was closed for maintenance the day we arrived (we came to spend time at pool specifically), so we asked the concierge if the hotel is accommodating people for the missing amenity, and she said no. We took our business elsewhere.

Hotel Derek needs a lot of work and renovations. I stayed here 3 years ago in a Suite and it was nice, so decided to book for a night. We stayed there this past weekend for a night and was moved three times due to room conditions. Every room bathroom we were in was horrible. All the tubs had hair in them. The very last room the toilet was horribly stained. We thought someone urinated in it before we came but it was stained. We had a concert to get to and decided to just stay cause it was only one night for a couple of hours. This was the second worst Hotel I have stayed in. The one star is for the front desk. They were kind. 1/10 wouldn’t recommend though.Update: was charged 60 bucks and don’t know why and no one is picking up the phone to explain why. I’m beyond livid!

Horrible hotel. Service was SLOW in the bar. we had a group of 12 staying at the hotel for a work event and it took 20+ minutes to get everyone a cocktail. Got accosted for money by a child and her father while sitting in the bar. The room was ok. Mattress was hard. Valet was expensive and self parking was "closed".
