The absolute worst. Rent National instead if you can. Picked up the car on 3/20 and returned 3/21. Get a call 3 days later saying I haven’t returned the car. Spoke to a rep and he said no problem we’ll close it out for 3/21. Next day get a call saying I haven’t returned it again. Called and spoke to a rep and she said she has to reach out to IAH hertz, they’ll close it and I’ll get a receipt. Got my receipt and they closed it on 3/31. That’s 10 days but I was charged for a week plus a day?? Makes no sense. Now I can’t get anyone on the phone. Best and most efficient to hertz is responding 3-5 business days. Hertz is the absolute worst

This is the most mismanaged Hertz location in the world. Arrived at the counter 6:30am, waited 1.5 hrs just to get served. Asked if people in line can take a number so we can sit down, the lady said NO, just be patient?!

I regret choosing Hertz for my rental car needs due to the unexpectedly high charges for a one-day rental of a standard SUV, totaling $350’s. Unfortunately, my experience with their customer service was unsatisfactory, as they lacked empathy and failed to understand customer requirements. Additionally, the condition of the vehicle, notably the severely tilted steering wheel, poses a potential safety hazard, especially for less experienced drivers. It is concerning that Hertz did not conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle prior to rental.

I am so angry at Hertz! We went to pick up a 12 passenger van and then they told us they didn't have a van for us. The person at the desk was no help and sent us to the airport and said they would have vans. We got there and they didn't have vans. Customer service said they could not help in any way. All they could do is refund me in 7-10 days. Don't rent from them. I will be looking for legal help. Follow-up: So after 2 weeks I was never contacted by anyone goes to show that they don't care.

Billed me twice for same rental. Nearly $600 for two days. Hour on phone, can’t reach anyone. Keep getting transferred. Nightmare. If you have a problem, you’ll never reach a person.FYI to owner: I don’t have Facebook, so don’t bother asking me to message you on there. You guys should CALL ME.

Rented a convertible Mustang. The vehicle had a severe wobble at highway speeds. The next day, sunlight showed the rear bumper a different shade of gray, which indicates a replacement bumper. The vehicle seems to have not been fully repaired. No help from satellite Hertz offices: "you must return the car to the airport" which would require traveling on the highway. No help from Hertz Corporate after leaving a report on the website.

Several cars in the Gold lane of IAH Houston were not fit for rental: 1 car w/ marijuana smell. At least five cars in the Gold lane were not cleaned. Another two were without keys! One car had low tire pressure warnings. Another was low on motor oil. The state of the offered cars is unacceptable and hazardous. The finally obtained car had a misadjusted steering wheel, but was the most acceptable!Upon return I was charged a "Windshield Repair" for 35$. The receipt lists that charge as 'Accepted' which could not be farther from the truth. The state of rental cars and costumer interaction is simply unacceptable. Luckily, other options are now allowed in my company. Sadly, Hertz was a decent choice before 2021...

I saw a lot of negative reviews, so I was honestly pretty skeptical to rent from here, but based on MY single experience, I’d give them a 5/5. I was able to walk past the line, go to the desk inside the actual garage (no wait), and they told me to pick whatever car I wanted from the advertised section. I picked my car, turned it on and drove to the checkout gate. After they scanned my ID, the car, and swiped my credit card I was on my way. Super simple. Returning it was even easier. Just dropped it off in the return line, they checkout out the milage, gas, and condition, and immediately emailed me an invoice before I even left the driver seat. No problems. The cons: You have to shuttle to the rental building (some airports have rental car lots connected to the airport that you can walk to. This one doesn’t). Plus the shuttles aren’t the quickest. I wish they ran more frequently, but thankfully I wasn’t in a rush. Other than that, everything was good. Hopefully it’s that way in the future if I rent from here again.

All the replies to poor reviews saying "will forward to local management" like letting them know will fix anything. They're all complicit in the scams. Nice to know corporate is also useless.

They said gas was 90% full even though it was fully filled a mile out. Had to go back to get photo proof and a refund. It's near impossible to dispute after leaving. Most other cars nearby were marked as less than full gas which seems unlikely. If you have to rent from here, be very very diligent getting proof of cars condition and gas. This place is rated low for good reason.The fuel gauges do not have the precision to say the tank is 90 or 95% full. Yet my car and the 2 cars next to it are marked as such. It's so blatant its almost impressive.Edit: ah yes, forwarding this to local management will surely change things. Yall been saying that for years in these reviews. Nothing has changed.

I recently had a terrible experience at Hertz car rental due to the appalling service provided by manager (Keith). On 03/11/2024 at 6 pm, I approached the Gold members help counter seeking assistance, only to be met with a complete lack of willingness to help or provide accurate information.Kieth's attitude was nothing short of impatience and unwelcoming demeanor, leaving me feeling utterly frustrated and stranded in the airport without a car. Refusing to even help me update my information. He was talking to all customers with the same tone.My simple issue was easily resolved by a staff member at the regular Hertz counter, highlighting Kieth's incompetence and indifference towards customers assistance.A “manager” who doesn’t know/ unwilling to give the Reservations phone number? Is being rude all you need to be a manager at Hertz?I suggest that Kieth would be assigned to some training courses and I strongly advise Gold members to seek assistance from someone else within Hertz.

BEWARE!!! They charge you extra for an upgrade you never asked for. I am a Gold Member and was asked to pick up the car from the spot where they indicated. They had already chosen a car under my reservation. I took it as they told me to do and was charged an extra $300. I told them that the receipt they gave me was different from my original contract, showing them my online reservation contract made through the Hertz website. They attempted to scam and continuously lied saying the extra amount was a fee from additional tax, etc. I pointed out that the original price for the car per day was double what I had reserved for, but they kept saying other bizarre stuff to commit fraud, which logically never made sense. I was held up there for almost 2 hours, and they finally admitted that it was because of the upgrade that 'had been made' (which they did intentionally to take away the customer's money) and gave me the car that I had reserved. I requested they extend the return time by two hours, as I had been unable to leave while dealing with the issue for that duration, but they refused. This was the worst experience, and I am going to file a claim. What they have been doing is totally illegal!
