changed my schedule for work to come to get my books for my classes. when i arrived at the bookstore the cashier was on the phone (personal phone) she saw me but didn’t acknowledge me. i had to walk closer to the counter for service and i told her i was trying to get my books she asked which one i told her and she nonchalantly said we don’t have that here you have to go to the central location. then resumed her phone call like i was bothering her. i’m withdrawing from this school too much of a run around and bad customer service never seen anything like it

Such a liar, crooked, and lazy the staff is. I placed my order on 17 Sep and it was available when I ordered but a week later, they emailed me which says it is out of stock. I did talk with Dana Kennamore about it and Dana said that they can see the order. just wasted time. Do not order here.

Horrible, Saturday there suppose to be open until 1. Never do they stay open until there time and if it’s slow and you have to close the school should change the hours officially.

Womp, womp. Not impressed with HCC as a whole. Just to become a new student proved to be difficult. The financial aid office as a whole needs a huge overhaul because I've never experienced such POOR attitudes before. Those who are employed by HCC make a good amount of money and yet they still have bad attitudes and do the bare minimum to help you. I've witnessed the FA staff walking around in their office, talking, eating popcorn, and their phones yet when someone approaches them or needs help it's like their entire demeanor has changed. They're like Walmart customer service: Never seen and when they are seen they're never useful to you. I also would take advisor's advice and info with a grain of salt since they provide you with the wrong things. They had me taking classes that I didn't even need to take and luckily I caught it before the w/d deadline. You're better off contacting the school (you want to transfer to) and asking them about their requirements for transfers along with doing your own research. Professors are alright but always use ratemyprofessor to find out more info on them because some are trash. The college itself has great potential but the staff doesn't seem to want to elevate HCC. (For the receptionists. I have no idea why you insist on never being at your desk and sitting around elsewhere talking to your friends. You get paid to sit at your desk, do it.)

Took off work to drive over and spoke to a helpful advisor, but was told I needed to get approval from chair of the department, Daejan Grigsby, to take a course. I emailed her literally like seven times over a 1-2 month period, no reply, and called the department three times, only to not receive calls back and ultimately be redirected to her email. LOL. I literally did everything I could to contact that woman. She never replied to me. I went to Lonestar instead.

Although I am not a student here (I attend LSU - in an MBA program), I was very impressed with this community / junior college campus. Looks like it's new or recently remodeled. Attended a Women N.O.W. conference luncheon regarding human sex-trafficking hosted by the Sociology Club and a professor Dr. Fonge. Met several amazing people and lunch was provided by Big 6 BBQ (food was amazing btw - I will have to try them out personally). Conference room where event was held was impressive. Nice stage, sound systems, and huge television monitors as well as projector screen. Great place to host a future SuperBowl party on campus!! Parking lot was huge but obviously extremely packed. They do have a multi-level parking garage so I'd recommend going straight there from the get go so you're not searching for an open spot. Would definitely return to attend future on-campus events in the future. The Sociology club there seems to have it together as the event was very organized and no mishaps derailed any part of this 4 hour event. Very professionally handled and orchestrated.

Just horrible experience!! I called to make sure the bookstore will be open and the front desk rep told me that someone will be there and that they opened at 8:30AM. NOT the case!! Unprofessional, 30 minutes passed and not a single soul was inside the book store. 30MINS someone needs to get fired, the people that go inside HCC are paying students that need access to all the wonderful things HCC offers. Not cool HCC Hayes real let down!!

My experience here is unique, because my university rented out rooms at this campus, for our cohort to take classes here. My first hand experience is with the staff, janitors, police, and front desk as I never had to deal with registrar or financial aid since I was a student there, but technically belonged to another university. Some interesting notes: When you do take classes here as a guest from another university your parking decal, which you put on a hangar will have your university name on it and semester you are there for. On the negative side after about two semesters they forgot and never gave us a new one again. Thankfully, no one in my cohort ever had issues with parking and the like. Staff- they were always friendly and usually had a sign the first few days (not the first semester we started though, that was confusing as we took a class at the actual high school next door, that was listed as a HCC class) stating where our university would be having class. I would usually come early to eat dinner and have someone open the door for me. By the third semester, they were left open immediately, because they got to know us well. We were a two year cohort. We never got there at a time that the bookstore was open, but we always were at the vending machines. The tables nearby were clean, though it was a pain to find an outlet. I don't think I ever did. Your food options are to literally bring something in if coming in after 4:30 unless you want to survive on snickers and coke alone. One semester one room had a roach problem. That was scary. We complained enough and got that fixed...mostly by sitting away from the roaches. Which brings me to my biggest gripe... The bathrooms were generally nasty. I mean gross, beyond gross. Always out of soap, always out of something. The janitors looked exhausted. It's like people treated these like middle school bathrooms...and you get the picture. I hated having to use the restroom here. Their restroom was a legit issue, but you could tell it was not the janitors as they were constantly cleaning it. It was the students. The only issue I have with the janitors was the lack of soap. I am confident our cohort helped Purell gain a nice profit during that time period. I'm not sure why the students do that, but they were worse than your average public restroom. Parking, staff, everything was okay minus the restrooms and roaches in that one room...which I can't remember the room number anymore. Sorry!
