Most counter workers treat people badly, especially those who don't speak English. It bothers them to do their job.

Taxation is theft.
Don’t you ever forget that.

After 2 1/2 hours in line, which started well outside of the building (in the rain!) I still have not made it to the counter. There are 15 counters, and from what I can see only 4 are operational. I called in advance and was told my transaction has to be done in person (registering a vehicle I purchased out of state). So, here I am. When I contemplate the rather substantial amount of tax I’ve paid to Harris county over the years, it leaves me disappointed in the leadership here. This is not a 21st century facility.
UPDATE: It gets worse. I finally got to the counter after 3 hours and 6 minutes. I handed everything over and she asked me if I had an appointment. I said I did not, but when I called in advance to make sure I had all the paperwork I needed I was not told I could make an appointment. Initially I was disappointed as it may have saved me 3 hours in line. Well, she went on to say I couldn’t be helped. So, I asked if I had made an appointment, would I be a the same counter. She said yes. I said, well I’m here now. I had a check for just over $5,000 to give them. She said that they couldn’t do it. She asked a supervisor and the supervisor told me it was my fault and turned around and walked away. Wow!
So, it turns out the earliest appointment is 4 days after my temporary tags expire. However, I’m serving Jury duty for Harris County on that day, so I made the appointment for the following day.
I’m just really disappointed and frankly a bit saddened by the lack of leadership here. I don’t blame the people that work there, it’s the leadership that sets the tone, empowers the workers to make decisions, and sets goals for improvement.

I came here to get my DV plates for my new 2024 vehicle on Aug. 21, 2024 and got DV plates for my former 2014 vehicle instead after having paid $68-70. Not noticing the error, I have been driving around Houston with double vehicle license plate and registration. I was stopped in Beaumont yesterday by a state trooper on the Waldon Road exit because as I approached her ? vehicle, my tags and registration were approaching and ? ing as 2 vehicles @ the same time. My registration on my windshield is correct but my rear temp paper tag plate was pinging as my old 2014 Chevy Silverado and not my 2024 Chevy Silverado. So when she stops me I have 2014 plates on a 2024 vehicle making it look like I am driving a STOLEN vehicle. I do NOT appreciate being put in this type of situation because this could have easily became an out of control situation. Luckily the female trooper was very professional, and patient as I gave her all of the ?'s and receipts. I will be @ the office 1st thing in the a.m. to get a refund and this situation corrected. I probably have EZTAG error pings incoming in the mail as well and I will NOT be being held accountable for that error either. Hopefully, this get handled correctly in the a.m. September 16, 2024.

Not even one star deserves this place, yesterday I was there to pay my taxes and fill out a claim form related to my taxes for unfair collection of fines, 2 women in window #3, one brunette did not speak Spanish and the other did speak Spanish, these women were quite rude and unprofessional without class and education, they treated me in a humiliating way when I asked them my questions, both of them looked at me as if they were important people and I was worthless, I was an intruder, as if they were talking to a fool or a someone who was asking them. The Spanish-speaking woman responded by yelling at me "I don't know how to read Spanish" when I showed her a question on the form they gave me in Spanish. It's incredible that someone speaks a language and doesn't understand writing. I responded that she doesn't need to be rude and treat me so badly that she will control herself because I wasn't disrespecting her and that she should respect me.
It was an act of racism, as it is normal that Hispanics have to endure in our daily lives in the United States and it is the same everywhere, it is a hatred against Hispanics. Karma exists and if you treat me badly and hurt me, you will be treated badly sooner or later and the damage you do to me will come back to you.
There is a lot of ignorance in the United States, we are no longer dealing with so much racism, I wonder what they are teaching the children in this country in schools? They will be teaching them that North Americans are the best in the world and that other races are inferior to them. If this is true, things are going very wrong in this country.
Many expatriates have arrived in my country in Central America and we do not treat them badly, we are an underdeveloped country but my people are not as ignorant as in the United States, it is a shame those people that the government has working in their offices and the African American people are the most racist. They don't want to live in a city mixed with racist people without class and education.
They are international shame

I don’t know why, but every person you talk to on the phone here just acts like it’s an annoyance for you to call and ask a question.
Every single time they act annoyed, talk over you, and then cop an attitude. It makes you wonder how they who raised them to be that way. Hope y’all have better days and treat people better. Cause I wasn’t particularly happy about being on hold for two hours before my call was answered, but I didn’t take it out on you. Asking a simple question must hinder your capability to think, in turn making you irritable towards someone just trying to find out a simple question.
You should fill out form EMA-ASAP. ?
And then take appropriate action. ✌?

Being that it is a place that treats people, the check-in staff is disgusting. But the ones who speak Spanish think they are divine herons. But the one who attends the entrance, but as if they had scorpions for breakfast, answer the questions with great repudiation as if they did. They wouldn't want to talk. If they don't like working, that's not the reason they should be there. Give the job to someone with more benefit to society who is more motivated and treats people better.

Liz did a great job getting me in and out. Many people dread going to the DMV like myself but more people like Liz could quickly change that perception. Thank you

Yes there’s a long line, but what government office doesn’t? The line I had on a Friday morning was around 30 minutes, which I feel was not excessive. Once you get to the waiting area, there was a very kind lady who asks the reason you’re there (handicap placard), you get a number. The wait area was full, standing only. My number was called within 2 minutes, so it is not necessarily in number order, which I greatly appreciated. The clerk was friendly and kind. Overall was a good experience!
