I transitioned my dogs to this neighborhood vet a couple of years ago based on reviews. I show up once a year for annual exams and to get heartworm/ flea medicine.
Most recently, I brought my dog in for a suspected UTI. Blood was collected because it could be something "more serious" and a urine sample was collected. This occurred on a Friday morning and I was told results should be back in two days.
I called the following Wednesday at 4pm to follow-up. Apparently, my doctor wasnt in, and the other vets were "too busy". They called back to ask if I could pick up antibiotics before 6pm. No ma'am, I work and wont be able to make it there before before 6pm.
The next day (Thursday), I try to pick up the medication and no one can find it. So I wait while three people figure it out. I explain I still haven't spoken to a doctor. The front desk staff tells me she isnt in today, but she was present the day before. Huh? I called yesterday and they said she wasnt in. I explain my frustration and finally retreive the meds. Later that evening, I got a call from the vets office confirming the UTI and apologizing for my experience. She tells me some labs are still pending, so I'll get a follow-up call.
It is now the following Thursday, nearly two weeks after the original appointment. After a $400 visit fee, medication fee and a week on medication, my dog's condition has not improved. I'm not returning to this clinc, as I still havent heard from the original vet (Dr. Caroline O.) with ALL lab results. An appointment at a new vet clinic has been secured for next week.

I originally loved this vet. They did our yearly vaccines for many years and took excellent care of my cat who had urinary crystals just last year.
However, that changed this February. I had noticed what I thought was a small lump on my dog's jaw on one side. I was taking her in for a sudden rash and thought to ask about the mass. After waiting 3 hours to just get into an exam room (yes I was on time, if not early), we decided the mass should be x-rayed and blood work done. After reviewing the X-ray, it was noted that osteosarcoma was a possibility due to the features of the mass. After the appointment, I heard absolutely nothing for two weeks. I called multiple times over the next few weeks requesting a call back and review/feedback of the bloodwork/X-rays until I finally showed in person to demand the X-rays and blood work be sent to me (reception told me results had been received but wouldn't share until vet called me, which I then had to follow up on multiple times). GCVS radiologist said that osteosarcoma wasnt top concern but was on the list of possibilities. Great news per FW, probably just an ear infection that spread.
It was decided my dog should have the mass biopsied by the specialist who comes from Conroe. The office said they would call me to schedule. Surprise, no one called. I continued to call and try to get my dog scheduled for a biopsy, but it kept getting pushed off week to week. I asked if I could get referred to TAMU and was told they don't take anyone outside of 30 mi radius (I would later find out this is completely false). Next, I FINALLY got scheduled... In MAY. Only 3 months after I presented the original issue.
I was then called and told there was an opening a week earlier with the specialist...great! Let's get this done. I dropped my dog off all ready for surgery and told 95% chance they would get to it. Around noon I received a call to pick up my dog and they would keep her original appointment of the following week. You have no idea how stressful this ordeal has been until this point and to think your dog is going to have surgery, then hear nothing until noon and that they won't, is extremely draining. The Friday before the following original Tuesday appointment, it was SUPPOSED to rain over the weekend, and I received a call that the specialist would not be able to come in on the following Tuesday due to likely flooding. This was my breaking point. I set up an appointment with another vet. Within 30 mins of calling another vet, FW called me and said the surgeon could suddenly make Tuesday again. I declined, tired of the rollercoaster.
The new vet I consulted agreed with FW that the surgery should be done by a specialist, and said NO PROBLEM to getting me referred to TAMU. I was called by TAMU within 24 hours of that appointment to schedule consult and surgery. Despite that, the wait for appointment was another month out. Guess what, my dog has osteosarcoma, and a mass on the brain. I'm glad they didn't end up doing the surgery at FW because the only pre op prep I was told about was bloodwork, for what would have ended up being a partial jaw removal. (At TAMU they did CT scan, bloodwork needle aspiration same day)
If you don't have the capabilities to fully diagnose and treat, at least refer to someone who can. Maybe I could've done something earlier for my dog.

I’ve been coming for years. Like the doctors but the wait time and prices have gone up. It is a very busy location.

I loved this clinic. I had to put my baby Ziggy to sleep recently due to him being hit by a car but, they were his Vet for 4 of the 5 years I had him. They have great customer service and I was always met with a smile. Thanks for everything you did for Ziggy!

Great staff and love the doctor. Edit:Our last appointment was pretty disappointing. We waited over 2hrs just to get in and we didn't even get to wait in the same room with our cat as we had previously. No explanation or words from anyone about why or that they were running late. Watched at least 10 other people with their animals come in at the same time, not sure what's going on lately.

I've written about Dr. Griggs and her awesome staff before, but I want to acknowledge a newer member of her team, Dr. Alborta. This doctor, like all of Dr. Griggs' team members, and Dr. Griggs herself, is empathetic, skilled, thorough, and goes the extra mile for your fur babies. Dr. Alborta took fantastic care of my baby girl, who was found to have constipation. She worked on her yesterday, but my girl was still constipated today. Even though today was Dr. Alborta's day off, she actually went to the clinic twice to do the enema and take more x-rays of my baby's colon to be sure she was now empty. She actually texted with me also several times, ON HER DAY OFF!! You just don't find vets like this often, and I don't know how Dr. Griggs finds so many awesome team members, but she obviously picks nothing but the best. Dr. Alborta has been with Forest West for a few years now and helped me when another one of my babies needed to cross the rainbow bridge, but her caring bedside manner with my constipated girl just exceeded my expectations and deserves acknowledgement. I've been driving across town from my place to Forest West for the last 15 years any time any of my four-legged children are sick, and even though there are many vets so much nearer to me, none of them can hold a candle to Forest West and Dr. Griggs' high standard of care. You just can't go wrong with any one of the doctors here, and I would never consider going anywhere else. Thanks again, Dr. Alborta :-)
