I was there today, totally unexpected. My reason for being in that area was to visit the clothing shops, but I noticed this La Michoacana and since I was hungry, decided to try it (been to a couple of the other ones) and I was totally impressed by this one! It is definitely the BEST one of the ones I've been to! The store overall looks neat and clean, but in particular the restaurant was a lot better. All of the food looked a lot fresher and way more appetizing. I don't know if these are \"franchised\" stores or if they're all under same ownership, but whatever they're doing at this store, it works! The only thing I would change, would be the same thing I had already mentioned in my review of the store on Hillcroft, which is that the ladies, SHOULD NOT be touching the same receipt that went from the cashier hands, to your hands and now to the hands of the ladies handling the food!! I know they're mainly serving onto plates, but they're also handling tortillas, preparing tacos, gorditas, etc. I thought that was going to be different at this store, but unfortunately it wasn't.

My name's Oacana. Mitch Oacana. Pleased to meet you. This is of course a delicious Meat Market with all kinds of amazing Barbacoa fresh-made and on sale, and it smells as good as it tastes, and it tastes as good as anything in the city. I definitely agree with Lou on the five star rating. Barbi is a massive fan of Barbacoa, must be her Mexi-roots. So this is somewhere that we try to stop by whenever Barbi wants some Homestyle meat taste. As she is of course Mexican but that's kind of a secret.

I've never EVER smelled something so bad in my life. I ordered tacos but didn't leave with them. I can't believe how bad something could smell. PLEASE FIX YOUR PLUMBING OR WHATEVER THAT IS!!!

La Michoacana Supermarket has been at this location for a long while. Just not visible to the public until they decided to update the sign. Formerly known as La Ahorro Supermarket, it was my go-to place for some Mexican food fix. Staff doesn't speak English well, nor they care for my broken Spanish. But they tried. I'll accept that. Once awhile, I love surprised expressions when I reply with few words of Spanish. During CoVid19 pandemic, people were more vigilant to shop here. But there is no sanitizer provided. Just be careful. I tried to avoid crowded weekends. I really missed those BBQ Saturdays, where the vendor setup the charcoal grill outside. Oh my gosh, the aroma of grilled beef spilled into the store. I just want to run out there to grab some. But they only cook for the cantina inside. It is a must have with menudo served and tamale. Mmm... life is good in Southwest Houston.
