This used to be a great organization. But DFS has fallen far from its original purpose of empowering women. Yes, it still provides free suits and workshops. But the leadership policy against clients sharing their thoughts and experiences has led to a toxic, biased, and cancelling culture. DFS has literally told their client volunteers not to share their experience in workshops. Some clients get moved ahead of others in applications for programs. DFS leadership will grill clients about what clients have discussed privately with each other. Clients will be silently removed from programs without notice for not falling in line. DFS is anything but empowering and will clip the wings of clients who try to fly too high.

It’s odd there are rarely any Hispanic volunteers on media posts. I’ve been trying to volunteer there several times. I’m hoping it’s not because I’m Hispanic. There are 45% Hispanics living in Houston but they decide to promote others ethnicity volunteers on their pages. It would be nice if the some of volunteer group resembled the demographics in Houston.

This program has been around for many years here in the Houston Texas area. DFSH help people who are job ready become even more confident about their interview and first day of employment. By helping them pick out the best clothing attire that fits their personality and the actual job. And also the ladies get pearls to go with their outfit. Awesome!

The staffs were all really friendly and supportive throughout the entire process. They’ll help you find your professional clothes and accessories based on your personal likes and fully accommodated to your needs. The blazers, tops, and pants are new, clean, and beautiful. They come along with shoes and bags. After that, DFSH gives you a session for tips on interviews like elevator pitch and an prepare for your interview. Definitely, recommend for women who are in need for professional guides into their new job! 10/10 experience ?

Great place to gain new skills, staff is friendly, looking forward to visiting again in the future.
Also, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Juana, who went above and beyond to assist me in selecting the perfect outfit. Her genuine kindness made the experience unforgettable. Juana, you are a true gem!

I would first like to say that this is an Amazing organization! It’s such a blessing to have this for women getting back into the workforce. I visited the establishment on 5/29/2024 to donate some items. Upon entry,I walk up to the front desk, where A receptionist with glasses and grey hair was on a call. Once she placed the caller on hold,I geeeted her with, ‘Good Afternoon’. Instead of speaking back, she had this blank stare and smile. So,I stated it once more, and still, the same response, nothing. So,I proceeded to express while I was there. The lack of hospitality temporarily shifted my mood, but she did call someone to assist. Soon after, I was greeted by a very kind woman named Hope that was very helpful. Moments later, she returned with another lady named Kelly greeted me with warmth, and provided her card along with other helpful info. Soon,we were escorted to the donation shop. Very beautiful setup. It was a pleasure being able to join in with the many others that have donated to this positive cause, and I look forward to partnering with this nonprofit again.

I called to inquire about the frequency of their shopping experience and Stacy (employee) was very condescending, curt and unpleasant. I would give 0 Stars if I could for that phone interaction. That is not an individual that should be answering the phone and attempting to serve either women searching for employment aid services or to enter the professional working support groups. Very distasteful and disappointing.
