Chemas claims to be a substitute in the area now for La Casita which is temporarily closed because of supply chain issues, but chemas doesn’t compare. The carnitas, Barbacoa, tamales, salsas, and menudo at at la casita are far superior in taste and quality. Honestly I would pay double if La Casita came back because they were that good.

This store has been here since the 1960's. The reason why is because of the food. The weekend is a celebration of Mexico ?? cuisine. You name it Chemas probably has it. Low prices and great selection of items to choose from. Try this place out. Take a look.

I started buying their “Chema Chicharrón Botanero” at Kroger, and was buying at least 4 bags weekly because at first all pork cracklings were just pure crunchy, delicious pork skin without any fat layer on it (unlike other brands we had tried, that half of it ends on the trash because of fat layer on it). However, the last 4 bags we used this week, were mixed with pieces with fat layer as well, and just as it was done with the other brands, a lot of it ended up in the trash. That’s why I am only giving it 3 stars. I will continue trying a few more times to check if they really read the reviews and correct the issue.

Diego Martinez (DMTZ) sounds like a cry baby complainer. Just face it bud La Casita is permanently closed and Chema has far better food and service. I drive from the Spring area and would pass up La Casita for Chema tamales EVERYTIME!!!!

Great staff service. Placed a morning special order of 7 dozen of tamales of beans and cheese and rajas con queso and three hours later the tamales were ready for pick up. Delicious and good price.
