I've only been to this bookstore once, but I enjoyed my visit. It's a small shop but there's a wide variety of books. I prefer science fiction books and there was a good variety of books for me to pick from. The staff were very friendly too. The bookstore is far from my home, but I do plan to make future trips.

One of my favorite bookshops! The staff are very friendly and helpful. Different genre and topics sections so it’s easy to find the book you’re looking for or in the mood to get. Loads of natural light, a cute bookshop dog, & so many cute little extra things you can get like tote bags, notebooks, cards, stickers and much more.

This was my second stop on the Houston Book Crawl As a lover of all things books I was not thrilled about this stop for several reasons. First and foremost the employees never acknowledged our presence in the store and they were very focused on a story one of their co-workers was telling. They did have a great selection of books but staff was not very personable and did not seem to care if we were there or not.

So I’m gonna be that guy, I guess. I’m sure this place is a good, even great bookstore. My issue is with how they handle book signings. I have purchased two (tried to get another but it was sold out) over the years. I went in to inquire about my last purchase, which admittedly was a long time ago. But I don’t recall getting a reminder about it and there was no follow up about picking it up. When I went in to inquire, they told me they no longer had it. Ok, I forgot, but no reminder? No refund? No store credit? Nope. They keep what I paid and I get nothing.I went to look back through my emails to see how much I paid and found an even older order that they canceled. They said in their response to my inquiry on that one that they emailed all purchasers about the cancellation. Well I didn’t get one and had to inquire on my own. Even when I requested refund, I got no confirmation of that.Keep in mind, I have purchased signed books from stores all over the country. I have attended in person book signings several times. I have a stack of signed books and memorabilia taller than me. So I’m not new to book signings. This is just the only bookstore that has cancelled or kept my money after an event in this manner. My suggestion would be to offer credit or offer to ship the book, like other places do. That way I become a long term customer and buy again and again. As it stands, I think this is bad business and wouldn’t make another purchase online from them ever again.

Great place. I went to find children's books with my two sons. Overall, a good collection, neatly presented books, and a calming atmosphere. I especially liked that almost all of the items were books but not toys that distract children in some other bookstores.

Brazos is a haven for anyone seeking to explore the current landscape of literature. The staff work like curators at a museum, and the selection of books is exemplary. Books for all ages, all subjects, and all manner of curiosity. It is a beautiful place.

Great selection of books, always finding some new recommendations from the staff picks. Friendly staff who genuinely enjoy their interactions with patrons.

Small, charming, nice atmosphere, well-staffed. Limited selection. Not a place to explore for obscure authors or interesting off-the-beaten path books. Firmly on the beaten path.

Management changed within the last year or so and it honestly no longer feels as welcoming as it once did. I used to rush back to visit brazos every time I came home and tell everyone to visit, but now it just feels like a shell if it’s former self. An example: One of the employees tried to go back and forth with me about brazos never being open past 6pm in the past when I inquired about going back to normal hours. Brazos used to be open 10-8 most days. I also overheard some negative comments about the previous managers in passing. There are fewer books on the shelves than there used to be and in general the people working there are just less friendly. Breaks my heart to have to let go of brazos when it’s where my love for indie bookstores began.

I buy all my books here (except for religious books, which I buy at church). I never use Amazon for anything, books included, because it abuses its employees. I always prefer brick and mortar stores anyway, especially Mom & Pop businesses. Brazos Bookstore is perfect!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Website is easy to check on available books. I was looking for a specific book and prefer to support local businesses, and was pleasantly surprised to find exactly what I needed. The website even tells the location (although that may be superfluous since it's a cozy store). In-person purchase was easy and enjoyable, and the store itself is tidy, cheerful, and enjoyable to visit
