“As a small business family-owned business owner, I was initially attracted to Molen & Associates as a home grown business that has been around for a long time. During the initial free consolation call they answered many of my questions and concerns which had caused me trouble with a past CPA firm.
My experience with our prior CPA firm was very poor communication, charged us a premium for them working over the weekend to meet a filing deadline.
I was relieved to see Molen & Associates worked nights and weekends and didn't charge me any premium - it's just part of the business, they say. I really appreciated that!
Molen & Associates has a team - each have a role in the process. I was informed of the process up front, who the roles & responsibilities were, and when and what was due. It was all very clear. They made phone calls to remind me of what they were waiting on, and to give status updates. It was because of this that I did not procrastinate too long to get my documents submitted!
Kathy worked closely with us to finalize our return and she is very knowledgeable of the current tax laws and the hot topics that may pertain to us. She communicated with me via email and phone call regularly.
The communication methods is really important to inquire about when choosing your CPA. Other CPA firms prefer to communicate through a portal, and I found that inefficient and cumbersome.

“2024 review: I have been coming to AV multi services since 2009, back when they were My Community. The tax preparers are usually different from year to year. This year, Henry was there again. I spoke with Henry over the phone on Thursday, 02/01/2024. I explained my schedule and time limitations, and he suggested that I email him the tax documents, he would start my filings, and I would finish it either Saturday morning or Saturday evening. He explained that he wouldn't be present but that anyone could help me.I did not make an appt and arrived Saturday morning. I explained to the receptionist that I did not have an appt, that I had spoken to Henry, and that I knew he wasn't there but that I had already sent my documents to him (except one). He response was to inform me that he wasn't there. I said I knew that. She asked if I wanted to make an appt for when he's back. I said no. She asked for my documents, and I handed them over, explaining that we were doing two filings.An hour later, we still had not been seen, and I had to leave. I informed the receptionist that I was not mad or upset, that I knew I had no appt, and that it would take longer but that I had to leave. She responded with, "Oh. I already gave your papers to Andrea. " I asked that get them back because I needed to leave. Andrea approached and explained that it was taking a few minutes longer because the pain ahead of me did have an appt, and it would only be a few more minutes. I stated that I was not mad, I understood, and I needed to leave. She said it would only take a few minutes, like 5 or 10. I again stated that I needed to leave. The receptionist handed me my paperwork, and I'm glad that I reviewed it before I left because she gave me someone else's paperwork as well. I handed it back, and she acknowledged that it was someone else's. We left with a promise from Andrea to call us in 10 minutes with any questions. I explained at this point that although i left my daughters phone number, it was only for emergency contact, as she doesn't handle any of this. Andrea did keep her promise and called us back. We had a great (albeit brief) conversation, and we agreed that I would call back after work to make the payment that would be due.I called back that evening and some to the receptionist. It was a disaster of a call. I would ask one thing she would answer something unrelated. I ended up leaving a message for Andrea to call me back. Apparently, she was at lunch at 430pm.Sunday, I received an email from Henry. I responded and explained the situation, and he called me. He allowed me to vent and apologized for the situation, although he wasn't even present. We came to a satisfactory agreement.Overall, every tax preparer I've worked with has been phenomenal. I return every year and always hope for the best. I do plan on returning next year, and hopefully, Henry will be there as well.Original review from 2023:Great services.
