I went to this shelter after finding a puppy online thst I was interested in. I emailed them and they said it was available. So my son and I drove 30 minutes to the shelter. The guard at the door made us stand there for about 5 minutes while she did nothing exception out the window. She finally dhecked our id and told us where to go. So we walked outside and around to another building and found d the lobby. We went to the desk, I showed them the email and the id of the puppy I wanted to see but they said we were not allowed to see the puppies unless we adopted lit first. I was so confused and they said that those puppies for not available for adoption yet but we could adopt it, fill out the paperwork and e pay the 70 fee but we wouldn’t be able to take it home. Of course I did not want to afopt a puppy I have never met so oyrothey told us where to go to see the “adoptable dogs”We walked to another building and went on a hallway looking place but some lady told us that we could not come in because the all the cavesdogs were sick with some kind of respiratory illness. She told us where to go to look at the other dogs who were not sick. So we went in a hallway and there were 4 sets of doors so we went on the first set and.saw all the cages with the “adoptable dogs. I was in tears after about. A 5 minutes. They looked so sad . I was surprised bacause they weren’t getting up or barking . Most of yhem just I lay there. Abyway we went through all the 4 sets of doors and we got a couple of dogs out to walk them it they just ran out of the cage as fast as they could. I went into 1 kennel with 2 puppies and sat down with them but there was pee and poop all over and I vrended up sitting in it. I wish I had never gone. And after all of that, I went to the bathroom to wash up and I was so stressed that I fell and hit my head on the wall. I have yopd . It was a horrible experience.

I went to adopt a cat and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The animals were well taken care of and the entire building, inside and out, were spotless! They had informational papers at the entrance and plenty of places to sit while waiting. 10/10 experience when adopting!

This rescue is not where you want to adopt unfortunately. extremely unprofessional, unpleasant and irresponsible. They threaten to euthanize animals under their care if not adopted. They have conducted many adoptions without proper meet and greets, cornering potential adopters. They also make it their practice to disparage other rescues that preform better without regard for the lives they could impact. I guess if the dogs are not from them their lives don't matter?

I adopted my beautiful dog from them and she is the love of my life. So many great animals are there waiting for homes if the community would just give them a chance instead of going to breeders. I've fostered many other dogs from there and each has been wonderful.

The place was very very clean and well kept! However, we did run into a few issues. First, we came to find a dog for my mother whose dog had recently passed and she has health issues which cause her to easily loose balance. But she came with specific dogs in mind that she was interested in. However, we didn’t see them so we walked all around and found two larger dogs she thought would be a good match. After visiting with a few the team member assisting us made her feel very guilty/shamed for expressing not being comfortable with a larger dog. She loves big dogs but it’d be unsafe for her to have a dog that pulls or jumps up. Then we asked 3 DIFFERENT team members to see a specific dog 1 person said they’re short staffed so we can’t see him the 2nd person said he’s being evaluated and the 3rd person said you can see him but ONLY if you adopt him. Then the KINDEST volunteer agreed to help us and brought him out and luckily we did end up taking the sweet boy home! I also have to make a comment regarding the ladies in the front. Adopting a fur baby should be exciting and enjoyable not feel like we’re at the DMV and their system definitely needs improvement. And I think they could be more kind to the adopters. As opposed to making us feel like we’re inconveniencing them by not standing in a straight line. I am glad that after such a stressful situation that my mom now has her new best friend. But our experience with the BARC staff was really disappointing other than that sweet volunteer and new trainee at the front desk.

I’m flying in to recuse a dog that was set to be put down yesterday. Now that I’m on the way they won’t let me take her home until Sunday because they won’t neuter her until then. The same dog they were going to kill a day ago now can’t come home until Sunday even tho she’s guaranteed to have a loving home. Now I need to take off work again, get a hotel for more days, miss time with my family because they won’t get her taken care of like they agreed to.

Adopted a kitten from here around the end of July. Never given anything on history of kitty or health, I was under impression the kitten was healthy...no she has FIP (CORONAVIRUS) which is essentially a death sentence..luckily the adoption was free, however I'd be just as upset if not more so.maybe take the time to let people know the history of the animal before letting them take them and falling in love just to watch em die...was .you first AND LAST time going to BARC

Absolutely disgusting! They kill animals daily and give them very little time to find homes. How can they realistically expect an animal to find a home within 48 hours, if that? They need to be shut down NOW! This isn't a shelter. It's a kill factory! 33 puppies are scheduled to die very soon. This isn't right or fair. Your staff is despicable for running the "shelter" this way. Euthanizing kittens, cats, puppies and dogs just because they feel like it.Shut down and let the TRUE animal lovers start a TRUE shelter!

This is an extremely High kill shelter. Please DO NOT surrender any animals to this place. Find a rescue or another shelter. It’s absolutely heartbreaking seeing all these healthy, friendly and amazing dogs being killed almost daily. It’s very common for them to put mom’s WITH their PUPPIES in the euthanasia list.If you have any ounce of humanity do not leave any animal in this place!

I had a wonderful experience with BARC staff when I received my furrever puppy less than 4 weeks ago. I was told after completing the adoption by BARC staff that my puppy needed 2 more vaccinations and that I could schedule them with BARC. Scheduling an appointment has been a NIGHTMARE. The only option to schedule an appointment is by using an online scheduling system, that is extremely FLAWED. I called BARC to discuss the online scheduling issue, and the only response I received was “just keep trying”. The level of customer service from the wellness center is extremely unacceptable. I’m still unable to get my puppy scheduled with you all. The only reason I wanted to continue her vaccinations with you all is because you issued the first two doses. I literally brought my puppy to the wellness center because I couldn’t schedule and appointment online. If the online system is not working properly and you all don’t accept appointments over the phone, how can I ensure my puppy receives the care she needs. I understand i can look elsewhere, however if you offer “wellness services” I should be able to schedule with you. I’m highly disappointed with the wellness staff. Although i may recommend others to adopt a shelter animal, I will be sure to let them know DO NOT RECEIVE WELLNESS CARE FROM BARC. I hope this issue will be looked into by the agency; if not for me, for another furrr family!

This shelter absolutely breaks my heart… The amount of dogs they bring in to put down and how fast they do it makes me and should make anyone else’s blood boil. I would give 1 star, but in all fairness I found the best dog I’ve ever owned in my life here, on the day he was scheduled to be put down… All this dog wants to do is hug and kiss you, be hugged and kissed, cuddle, and just be loved. He cuddles and loves on my other dogs and cats too. He’s so happy to be alive and I’m so happy I can give him the life he’s always dreamed of. It blows my mind that they were going to put down this beautiful, timid, healthy, and EXTREMELY sweet dog. There’s no words to describe this dog except perfect, but even that doesn’t do him justice. He loves everyone and every animal, he loves to socialize and meet new people, he just loves indiscriminately. He was even labeled a “dangerous” dog because of his breed and him being neglected in a police confiscation case. Turns out after a dna test they didn’t even get his breed right in the first place so who are they to judge? Again, I can’t believe they were going to put this precious baby down for nothing. He makes me and everyone he lays eyes on smile like magic, he just has this way of making you happy from how adorable and sweet he is. You have to be a monster beyond human comprehension to ever think about putting this one to sleep, I got extremely lucky finding this gem, literally was like finding a needle in a haystack or beyond that since he’s truly a one of a kind. He doesn’t care who you are, he just wants to hug you and drown you in kisses. Why would anyone not want that?

I've had dogs my whole life and this was by far the best place and experience I've ever had adopting a dog. Staff GENUINELY cares about you and your babies happiness. Tip if you find a baby you want to adopt take their measurements and run out and get a harness/leash. They do provide a leash but let them save theirs and the harness is better for those first few walks as new doggos might pull. (Don't wanna choke the poor dog)
