It was cool. The boat ride was really nice, just too short :)! But it was kinda gross down in the area. It's definitely a place you want to go to earlier in the day.

I love it but lately there is a lot of homeless people and most of the time they talking to themselves! This time though, one of them had 2 dogs and 1 of the dogs charged at us, luckily I was able to control my dog.

I was so happy to visit the park...unfortunately, I was unable to reach the lake, the smell of "pee" all over the stairs was killing me.It was smelling everywhere...Dispite the nice view, the option to jog, practice your morning yoga, bike, walk your pet, It was unbreathable. And the landscape of homeless melts your hurt.

Nice stroll down Bayou walkways. Part of Houston you don't get to see.

Allen's Landing Park is one of the most historic locations within the city, it was the founding place of Houston. In John and Kirby Allen's time, this particular bank of Buffalo Bayou was remote, muddy, and overgrown. Through the promotion of the Kirby brothers, this muddy bank turned in to a steam boat port and a center for cotton trade. Unfortunately, this era of prosperity was bore on the backs of the enslaved. Regardless, this area has seen significant change since the Allen's time. Any good Houstonian should visit the founding site of their city. There is direct access to the Buffalo Bayou Hike and Bike Trail and a short walk to several MetroRail stations as well as parking.
