Never been but my ex had gone there to get things for my birds. Seems they have good options on food and toys cannot wait to make the drive up there one of these days!

My wife purchased a cockatiel — who we named Palomita — from here, as well as all the pertinent accessories to be a good bird parent (Close to $1k worth of purchases).
Within a month of owning Palomita we noticed a swollen mass on her back hip. Fearing she was plucking feathers & distressed or worse we took her to the vet where we were told she had a cancerous tumor and would probably die. We asked the vet if this was something we could’ve done to cause this, and with her being so young, he assured us it was not something we could have caused.
A week later Palomita passed away. We called and spoke with the owner who said without a necropsy (which we later figured out would cost $250-300 — almost the cost of a new cockatiel) they would not do anything for us. With vet bills we are close to $1500 into a bird, with no bird, and they are unwilling to help us, despite us being already heavily (financially and emotionally) invested.
Will be taking future business to Houston Canary or Adv in Birds. Recommend you do the same as Parrots cove will happily make a buck off you and then give you the bird (figuratively of course).

Very rude staff! Went in to look at the inventory, in hopes to bringing home a beautiful bird and the staff ignored me, then was very short with me in answering some questions and concerns about their birds. Their customer service is very poor! People buy people, and with that being said I will be taking my business elsewhere!

such a beautiful store with beautiful birds, and for such a great price! definitely recommend getting a bird here rather than petco or petsmart, you can tell they really care for their birds.

? This is one of the few pet stores specializing in essentials and accessories for parrots and birds in the Houston Area.
? However, they are located a bit far away from the city.
? The staff is very helpful.
? They sell birds, too.

Very impersonal towards us. Customer service could be trained up a bit. Instead of saying, "I'll ask you not to touch the birds!" how about, "please be careful because the birds may bite, however we can show you any bird you might be interested in." or "we don't want the birds getting sick so please don't touch the babies." Also, it was hard to see where the register even is. We walked in and heard someone randomly greet us from behind a counter at the back of the store. My husband asked how much a scarlet macaw was and the price ran us off really quick. For $3800 I could have a parrot flown in from Florida and still have money left. Not a good experience at this place at all.
Edited 4/5/24: It’s been four years and I got a response to my review TODAY. My review still stands. The customer service here on that fateful day, four years ago in Houston, was atrocious.

This Avaian store is a Treasure of Beautiful Healthy Happy Birds! Sean was amazing with all his help and knowledge of all the birds. They also have a Huge supply of toys, accessories, food and supplements. They keep the store so clean and always wash their hands and use hand sanitizer every time they handle different birds.
We drove 3 hours to get 2 Canary Winged Parakeets. And 3 hours home and I tell you that was worth the road trip.
I will definitely be checking their online store for all my birds needs!
Thank you so much Sean for all your time and help.
I would love to travel down there again.

This is a nice store with nice employees.
They keep the place organized and clean. The birds are very nice as well. Good place to shop for a nice cute new bird.....
We would recommend this business to anyone that asks us about where to visit a bird store.....
We will keep in mind when shopping again in the future.

I bought a Conure last week from here and I'm just in love. I was allowed to take my time and find a bird that picked me. My bird, Theo, instantly bonded with me because of this. From day one he wanted to cuddle and dance. He's currently napping on me as I write this. He is healthy and happy. I just adore him. His color is beautiful as well.
