We were in Hallettsville overnight for a family wedding and were pleasantly surprised with the Hotel Texas. A very nice and very clean property with charming Texas decor. Cute lobby and dining room. The rooms were large and comfortable. A few drawbacks is why I chose 4 star over 5..the towels were extremely thin and not nice at all and the TV didn't work. Also, they advertised biscuits and gravy as part of their hot breakfast. Not true. There were feral cats outside on the patio. Ugh. But overall, a very nice hotel! Would definitely recommend. Get new towels!! Get rid of the cats.Rooms: Large and comfortable rooms. Very clean room. The towels were paper thin....they need to change those. The TV did not work.Safety: Well lighted parking area.Food & drinks: It was advertised that the hot breakfast included biscuits and gravy. Not true.

This is a cozy little place along our travels. We were just enjoying the atmosphere here. The front desk clerk was really nice. Very clean and smelled really good throughout the hotel. The room was amazing. Nice and clean. Well kept. Smelled amazing and the a/c almost froze us out. The mattress was a little more firm than I like, but my husband loved it.Rooms: The room was amazing. The only way in without a key card is through the front door.

i stayed at this hotel last night. A skunk on the property sprayed my dog, a cat and a car while I was out walking my dog. we tried to get rid of the smell and finally got the smell off my dog. the scent still lingered in the room. A lady from the hotel called me and said "6 room are affected by the smell, including rooms on the second floor. The dog should've been left in the car or kenneled outside." and a $250 cleanup fee will be charged. 1st. that's a lie. the smell was only able to smell outside the room. second. if the smell went upstairs then the code enforcement officer or even the fire Marshall should be contacted as that is a fire hazard because if a smell can go through so can fire. 3rd. she wanted me to commit a crime by leaving my dog in my vehicle. tsk tsk tsk. 4th. leaving a dog kenneled outside in this heat without proper ventilation or nutrition could cause more harm. This dog (her name is Mia) has survived a house fire. she cannot be left in heat too long because her lungs don't properly work correctly. Another thing this dog has saved me more than any human could possibly imagine. if this is how all animals are looked at by management I feel for when the wounded warrior project goes and one of their dogs get sprayed by a wild animal. I understand the animal is wild. I cannot prevent what that animal does. BUT I can make sure I try to clean it up as best I can. Also I have the recording of her saying what's in quotes so if they try to say she didn't say it I'll make a TikTok and broadcast the recording which I am legally able to do so.

We had our family reunion at this hotel. This is an older property with a lot of charm. The meeting area provided a perfect place for our festivities, and Ken and Kay Patel couldn’t have made our stay any better. They worked tirelessly to support our large group of people. They literally did it all. They’re also extremely nice people. The rooms were clean and simple. My only complaint is that the beds are not the best - a little old and hard - and there were not quite enough covers to keep up with the nice cool air conditioning. Throw a mattress pad and an extra blanket on and they will be perfect! We still slept quite well.Given all the positives of our stay, this was a minor issue. We would stay here again 10 times over. Choose Hotel Texas if you’re in the area.

Visited Shiner, stayed at this hotel in hallettsville. It was old but clean. The pool was too green with algea to use. The staff was pleasant. Smelled like bacon. I didn't eat the breakfast. The bed was uncomfortable and I didn't get any sleep as the ac was very inconsistent hot /cold. And very noisy. The tub was slippery but there was a safety bar available which I did cling to! There were 3 lights on the microwave pointing toward the bed that were pretty bright all night.Rooms: The room had stains on the floor. Good lighting. No ice machine on 2nd floor.Safety: The door to the upper deck area was merely propped up to the frame. Seemed real easy to just walk in.Food & drinks: Only a few candy bars in the snack machine I don't know if there breakfast area had any drinks available.

It’s a very good hotel. I wish it was less expensive lol. But I say that a lot these days as I’ve watched hotel prices escalate. But I had an enjoyable stay here. The exterior is done in central Texas limestone and has a wonderful Texas feel to it as does the lobby. The rooms are great and follow a Holiday Inn Express type format, making me wonder if maybe, the original designers had that in mind. So the layout of the room is one that you’ll be very familiar with. Everything works. In the bathroom, they’ve even thought out adding a bath mat to protect against slipping, something even some Holiday Inns don’t do. You know the ones. Where you have to put a towel down in the bathtub to protect yourself from slipping on the bathtub surface. But not here. The pillows are comfy such that I asked them where to buy them, but the bed is actually quite firm, which might be a dealbreaker for some but I found it to be just fine. The swimming pool is larger than most, and great. Especially if you are traveling with kids. Outside, they have rocking chairs and porch swings for you to sit in and enjoy the evening air. The breakfast is quite good and they even have one of those waffle makers that makes waffles in the shape of Texas. I would stay here again. Recommended. Right down the road or a Brookeshire brothers. Grocery store and a Walmart. A little bit further down is a Dairy Queen. A little bit further down is the center of Halletsville so it’s a pretty darn good location too.

We are regulars and absolutely love Hotel Texas in Hallettsville and refuse to stay anywhere else when visiting Shiner. Not only do you feel extremely welcomed when you arrive, the hotel itself if very clean, comfortable and accommodating! They also have a nice covered area in the back to mingle with friends/family or to meet new friends :-). It is also conveniently located next door to Los Cabos San Lucas Mexican Grill (walking distance), which I also highly recommended for their huge selection of delicious food and drinks! And....although I appreciate the option of eating the free breakfast offered at the hotel, we also love Diane's Diner down the street (if we end up missing breakfast because we overslept -lol). The only thing I wish could be added in the future is a TV on the back patio in order to be able to watch Astros games, March madness, etc. outdoors (but definitely not a make or break situation for us). Can't wait till our next visit :-)

People in room next to us leave dog in their room that keeps barking. I called the front desk this morning with this concern & the woman that answered (I didn’t get her name) immediately replied that we shouldn’t be leaving a small trash bag outside our door for disposal if we have a “Do not disturb” sign on our door handle because then we won’t have cleaning services. I responded that’s fine but that’s besides the point & is she going to address my concern of the barking dog in the room next door? She reluctantly said yes & hung up. Also the pillows are hard, I can hear the people next door snoring & the internet is lagging & freezes on video calls during the weekdays. I still have some time left here & will revisit & update this review & rating after I complete my stay here.
