“The owner is professional and nice. Friday night is a friendly knowledgeable accepting group of people. They are patient with new players like myself and will help you learn how to play.With that said, they will not tell you that playing a pre-con is not a good idea. So I'll do it for you. Pre-cons, tribal,... leave them at home. Play that with your immediate friend group, not at the shop. Build a cEDH deck or proxy a cEDH deck. Playing and learning is fun, watching other people play while you're locked out is not. Driving 45 mins for someone to play something that limits creatures at the table to 2 when you’re playing a creature deck or having your lands not untap during your untap step isn't really a fun learning experience. If you're looking to learn you're better off just watching some YouTube videos or better yet, build a cEDH deck, go to the shop and learn to play with THAT. If they are playing a popular cEDH commander and have power 9 in the deck, it's probably not casual and it's not going to be fun for you and your pre-con. Ask questions to gauge power level properly and don't just bring a pre-con. Bring a couple competitive decks and maybe a casual or two. 1/20 times you'll be playing against an actual casual person playing a slightly upgraded pre-con, however I’ve never played against 3 casual people, there’s always at least one or two tryhards. Lastly, tryhards rely heavily on artifacts, enchantments, and non-basic lands. Use that however you see fit. GIYF. “Staff is always helpful, place is always clean. This ones not as busy as others due to it's location and township, in a lake town with with water going folks more than craftspersons. Just an observation. This store is very similar to others in what they carry, it's also similar in how much is being taken out. They don't carry as much items as they used too, the stores a shrinking. This one is the closest one to us and we are glad it is.”
