I went to this surf shop with a few of my friends on my first trip to Galveston and first time surfing. The owner was one of the nicest and coolest guys ever. He hooked my friends up on their purchases with some stickers and was just all around cool. Highly recommend for sure

This is the best surf shop I’ve been to. The owner James is super friendly and there’s no attitude like you get at so many surf shops out there. He was willing to talk through the particulars of surfing this unique area and board design. Stop by and buy a shirt and look around!

Best surf and skate shop on the 3rd coast. Knowledgeable, friendly staff, best owner/operator around, and a great place to renew your stoke. Theirs is contagious! I got my husband a new longboard skate board for our anniversary and the team helped us pick the perfect fit.

Surf specialties is by far one of the best surf shops in Texas. I have been shopping here for 30 years and every time I walk in I feel the excitement of all the cool things to see. His board selection is phenomenal and they have a great Texas attitude to go along with it.

Hey guys, I live in waco and drove all the way from waco tx to Galveston to buy a wetsuit. I called a few surf shops but ended up going to Strictly Hardcore Specialties. The owner James is really knowledgeable about what I was looking for and I just felt like I was in good hands.I got the wetsuit and james even threw in a pair of sandals on the house. Thanks again James!

Where to begin...I have been surfing for 37 out of my 47 years on this Earth. At the age of 10 in 1986, my Dad took me to a Surf Shop in Galveston, TX. to rent a board. Fast forward 21 years, James Fulbright and I had an "Ah ha moment". One helluva long story short, James and I reconnected after realizing I was the stoked fat kid who wanted to surf. Strictly Hardcore Surf Specialties at the time, in 1986 had only been in operation for 1 year! After living in and traveling to some of the world's prime surf locations, I became spoiled to say it best, but my adopted "Seasoned" Brother and I always stayed in touch, with a rendezvous here and there, after some last minute flight changes to get to my location. When Texas called me back home, I wasn't the stoked fat kid who wanted to surf the 3rd Coast anymore, even though this is where it all began.Last summer James was urging me to get back in the water. I wanted to, but again spoiled. Together he and I came up with the board James coined "Double Trouble" don't ask, but specifically shaped for the Texas Gulf Coast. The board, finished last year has been sitting since then in our home. For the 1st time in 3 years, I got in the water with this board under arm at Surfside's Jetty Park. The waves were not massive, maybe thigh to occasionally waist high, but very clean, somewhat lined up with a 2 to 3 wave set here and there.Mental outlook, prior to a surf is a big percentage no matter the wave size. My mind and board were spot on last Saturday! James Fulbright has been studying the waves of the world for well over 4 to 5 decades, with a massive emphasis on shaping boards for The Texas Gulf Coast.I am not a small person, 6'03" 220 lbs. on a good day, therefore small waves and I used to not get along, because I am too hard headed to ride a longboard. Last weekend, I found my inner fat kid, and loved every minute of it! I was so happy, I wanted others to feel the love of this board and traded with total strangers so they too could experience the magic! The look on their faces was priceless, one individual called James directly and described Double Trouble as a "Nasty wave catching machine." and wanted a duplicate for himself! In conclusion, when you are on Galveston Island, go see James and Debbie Fulbright for anything surf, shape, SUP, skate or sun related. I promise, you will not be disappointed. Tell James the former Fat Kid sent you.KEEP LOCAL SURFERS RIDING LOCAL SHAPES.THE BEST LITTLE CORE SHOP IN TEXAS.

Gem of a place, and lots of historic moments are laying around this shop. Don’t surf, they have skateboards, clothing, swim suits and more.
