Wagabonz
2002 The Strand Suite 100, GalvestonWe brought a new member of our family in for a grooming. This one year old shepherd collie mix showed up on our back porch emaciated and matted about six weeks ago. After shots and some time to get her feet under her it was time to find a groomer who would understand she was going to need a lot of patience to get her coat, teeth and nails all healthy again. We visited three businesses today and it was the clear this was the place for us. We brought Abbi in for a visit to their bakery and a look around and they squeezed us in the same day. She had clearly been through a lot before she came to us and I was worried about how she'd do being left in a strange place without us, but the atmosphere was calm and Elaina, one of their groomers took SUCH good care of her. Abbi, pranced out afterwards so pretty with a new bandana and an extra treat. We will definitely be back! She looks great and more importantly it didn't stress her out the way I had imagined it might. The staff there gave us some good advice on meeting some of her other needs and we were able to find some other harder to find items we haven't seen at the box stores. I'm a big fan of supporting small businesses. If you need a groomer and or a pet store and bakery this is definitely the place for you!

PetSmart
6102 Broadway St, GalvestonWe love Mikayla in grooming and she clearly loves what she does! She was recommended to us by a friend who is heavily involved with animal rescue in Galveston and I’m eternally grateful! Our pets are always nervous at vets and groomers, and Mikayla just had a magical calming presence about her that puts our babies at ease. They always leave with tails wagging, big smiles, and great haircuts! 10 out of 10!

Pet Care

The Animal Clinic
701 Broadway Avenue J, GalvestonOur dog fell from a deck and shattered his femur. We were a few blocks away from The Animal Clinic and rushed there to find out they were closed, but Dr. Lea Fistein agreed to treat him and pretty much saved his life and leg. They were able to stabilize him for transport to overnight ER in League City, then treated him the next day. He was able to recover enough for surgery the next week. The entire staff was very professional and we are much appreciative of their effort to save our dog.

The Cat Clinic
711 Broadway Avenue J, GalvestonThey're a small town vibe and they all really care about their kitties. I like that the cat clinic is cats only and they do their very best to try making the cats comfortable. They also have very nice boarding facilities in the back where the kitties can hang out. Also, love the zany cat decor.

Campeche Cove All Animal Hospital
10015 Stewart Rd, GalvestonWe were in Galveston visiting and our dog had heat exhaustion on our last day. It was close to closing time for all vet clinics. One clinic wouldn’t take us at 5:00pm although their website said it closed at 6:00pm. Campeche didn’t hesitate to take us, were very thorough, patient, caring , and didn’t rush us out even after hours! Highly recommend them!

Gonzalo’s American Bistro
415 9th St, GalvestonLoved our experience here! Cute spot, super friendly and helpful service, and delicious food. We had breakfast: the coffee was exceptional and my egg white burrito had so much flavor. (Most egg white dishes super bland and this was not that. Don't skip adding some of the bottled hot sauce.) Highly recommended--we spent the end of our meal talking about coming back again the next day.

2107 Postoffice St, GalvestonI LOVE THIS PLACE OH MY GYAT. The food is SO GOOD AND SEASONED. The shrimp is delicious, i love the gumbo and rice, the asparagus and bacon is so good, and the bread is amazing. The server was super chill and he always came and refilled my water. I NEVER write reviews but this place is just too amazing so I had to share
I got the Bourbon street platter (the one with gumbo) and the Jamalaya (the one with bread). The food came so fast too!

Koop's BBQ Kitchen
4501 Broadway Avenue J, Galveston10/10 food! We ordered coops for catering at our holiday employee party and we barely had any leftovers. The turkey was great, the brisket was great, we also ordered potato salad and mac and everything was gone. They even gave us some great tips on how to keep it warm without drying it out. The BBQ sauce was also good. Thanks!

Galveston Island Brewing
8423 Stewart Rd, GalvestonGreat place to hang out and enjoy some of the best beer in Houston! We took the 1pm tour which was conducted by the brewmaster. He gave a lot of insight about their history and process as well as answered some more in depth questions when it comes to brewing whether at home or in scale. Super cool experience, highly recommend!!!

Corduroy Coffee and Clay
2521 Winnie St, GalvestonAn amazing little spot when you’re waiting for your cruise ship or just adventuring the island!
This is a small, single person operated coffee trailer that has been here for about the past year of me coming down to Galveston and I finally am writing a review!
While all of the drinks are great, I’d try the dockside if you are either not into coffee or want something that isn’t too intimidating. Overall the vibe is 10/10 and the guy operating this spot always has conversation and positive energy to brighten your day!!!

The Sunflower Bakery & Cafe
512 14th St, GalvestonI absolutely lucked out when I found this place on a Google search today. It was everything we were looking for on our first visit to Galveston Island. It was a quaint little place with an outside eating area as well as one indoors. The service was fabulous and the food was so delicious! We enjoyed everything about it. Our granddaughter had the fish tacos and my husband and I had the cup of soup and half a sandwich. The clam chowder was the best ever. This will definitely warrant a return trip for us.
Dietary restrictions: Our granddaughter had some gluten and other dietary restrictions, and the server very kindly and wonderfully took care of everything she needed.
