While the hotel shows promise and has some nice qualities, the inability to turn off the balcony lights, which stay on all night, is a significant drawback, resulting in unwanted light in the room. This choice by the owners may suggest a stronger focus on promotion rather than guest comfort. Additionally, as others have noted, there is a noticeable smell of marijuana in the hallways and on the balcony.

This was a great getaway, the room was clean, the staff was friendly and the environment was overall good!
Rooms: The room was clean, has adjustable temperature, a balcony view, clean shower and toilet.
Walkability: The beach is just right across the street, and their is Landry's prime seafood and steak restaurant within walking distance to the hotel.
Food and drinks: The food was delicious! I had the sweet BBQ wings with seasoned fries the first night. The chips n queso paired with a mojito. And the breakfast was fresh, hot and tasty

Rooms left much to be desired we literally had black mold in our room, the new air conditioning went out but they sent up the nicest service men to get us back cooled off promptly. The hot tub did not work but the beach was right across the street

Where do I begin?1- at our check in after a 6 hours drive, the front desk clerk “kindly” told us that they could not credit us the points to our account because I booked through a third party. Marriott always credits our points no matter where we do our reservation.2- the room stunk like beacon3- the maid service would wake you up early trying to open your door without knocking, even if you had your Privacy card in your door. And, goodness, where they loud in that hallway! No way you could have a good rest.4- I ordered some complimentary bottles of water at 11pm. They brought them at 4am knocking on the door persistently. Again, no way to get a good rest.5- they close the restaurant before 11pm6- they deny you the breakfast buffet before 10:30am (even when paying for it)So, in general, service is a disaster.Design in the room:1- shower is situated on the wrong side of the bathroom, so you enter the shower from where the side of the shower, and behind the door2- sink is too high. Very uncomfortable3- toilet is awfully low. I didn't want to do this but, I hope this helps someone else. I have tried calling the hotel due to reading other reviews related to the shuttles being overbooked and unavailable the day of sailing for their cruise. This left many without a shuttle and no other option but to pay for an uber. Unfortunately I am traveling with a big party and would like to avoid that headache the first day of my vacation. So what did I do...I called today (3 weeks ahead of time). I have contacted the hotel 4x with no solution and these are the excuses I have gotten.1. "We don't provide the shuttle, we work with a third party." When I inquired about the "third party shuttle's" name, she said they didn't give us one. (????) So I asked for the contact number she provided it. I contacted the shuttle they said they don't work with Hilton Galveston nor provide shuttles for them. (Headache #1)2. I called Hilton again, asked to be transferred to the manager, and the staff member did so. After waiting 15 minutes on hold, someone answered I explained my dilemma with Tina, she placed me on hold for approx. 10 more minutes then she hung up. (Headache #2)3. I called back, a staff member answered and inquired about my call. I told her I simply wanted to be transferred back to the manager, she said she was unable to do so. I hung up because she indeed can. (Headache #3)4. I called once more and someone was kind enough to attempt to transfer me to back to said manager, after waiting on hold for 7 minutes, the staff member returned to the phone and stated that I'd have to call back in an hour which would most likely place me around lunchtime, and we all know how that goes. (Headache #4)In other words, if you want to risk not having a shuttle on the day of your trip after paying for parking and a one night stay, be their guest. Also, if you're wanting to inquire about reserving spots in an upcoming shuttle, you can forget it. Don't even waste your time. I read the reviews to avoid their headaches and still ended up with 4.

Beautiful hotel & friendly staff! The rooms were recently renovated and very nice. Ian at the front desk was great and helpful. The reason for the 3 star review, we booked this hotel before a cruise and booked the rate that includes parking while on the cruise and a shuttle to and from the terminal. We called a few weeks before the cruise and asked if we could sign up for the 2 of us. We were told no, they would get us scheduled at check in. We arrived at 2 pm (before check in) and were informed the shuttle was already booked up for the next day, and we would have to get an Uber from the hotel to the terminal out of pocket. We are already paying for parking/shuttle, so we planned accordingly. This deal should not be available to book if the hotel cannot accommodate the guests. The hotel refunded the parking charge, but now I’m having to pay even more to park at the terminal. Super frustrating and very disappointing.

The rooms are nice enough, but could be updated. Given it's mostly beach clientele, they're fine. The staff was great, the location is perfect.
