This is a GREAT spot to stay. Located right on the water just a block away from all the shops, restaurants and cruise ships. The staff is fantastic. They're smart, committed and go the distance to ensure service. The included breakfast is sub par offering a few muffin choices, cereals, fruit cups, juices and yogurts. If you want anything that's not loaded with sugar you're out of luck. The rooms are appointed with very comfortable bedding although the furniture seems dated and ready for remodeling. While there are no amenities to speak of (I think you can borrow bicycles at the front desk) this hotel is a fine option due to the staff and location.

As a 3 star hotel with a healthy room price, I expected more. On arrival at 7pm, the front desk staff was not talkative - and that's ok. Gave us our room key and directions. Hotel wasn't busy and we were looking forward to a "window with a view". We got the side of the a/c unit and a view of the car park. If you want repeat costumers, you give them the best you got to make them remember the great experience. We didn't get that and were disappointed. The room rate came with a Continental breakfast - choice of muffin, cereal, fruit or yogurt. Poor choice. We weren't looking for the pancake machine or packet scrambled eggs, but a fresh croissant or even some bread and toaster would be nice. Rooms overall were very comfortable and clean. Shower was disappointing - a choice of warm or cold and a shower head that should have been replaced. Bed sheets were clean and towels were fresh. Will think twice before going back .

We stayed here at the end of cruise. Nicely situated right by 3 good restaurants, plus walking distance to the Strand. Dee at the reception desk was very friendly and accommodating.Added Bonus- spotted some dolphins right from the parking lot! Would definitely stay here again!Rooms: Room was spacious, very clean and very nice decor. Ample amount of nice, thick towels and nice assortment of toiletry items.

This is an excellent choice to stay the night before your cruise. The hotel isn’t large, but the staff and service are great. The room was spotless. There was a small continental breakfast which should be just enough before cruising. This will be my first choice the next time I stay in Galveston.Food & drinks: Katie’s Seafood is right next door.

My husband and I stayed for one night before we went on our cruise. When we arrived we were greeted by Ms Dee at the front desk she greeted us w the best vibe, she was excellent she went above and beyond( whom is downright AMAZING) made us feel like old friends as opposed to new customers.Room was clean and comfortable. The location is convenient and extremely walkable to restaurants, bars, coffee shops, retail.

The bottom line, greatest place to say when going on a cruise or just spending time in Galveston, this is our second cruise, thought it would be a good idea to come a day early.Front desk receptionists were awesome, but Mrs. Dee was the just amazing, I get a bit stressed with all the chaos of parking and shuttles etc. She took the time to let me ask a million questions, and she calmed me down answering all of them and just reassuring me that things will go smooth, she walked me through every detail of my beginning of the cruise. People are quick to leave a bad review, I'm here to say, she's a asset to this company. I spent 21 years in the Military US ARMY active duty, we used to say Soldiers and equipment/ training is a direct reflection of leadership in this case is definitely true. She definitely is a stellar representation of this organization. I need management to understand and acknowledge this. I'm not taking anything away from the other receptionist cuz they were awesome too. Hotel amazing location right next to the water clean rooms professional environment employees everything is just perfect. We will be back..

The service, room & location are fabulous! We could not have better. Once we were checked in & dropped our bags off we were able to walk ports and look at the ships then walk around to the dock to find the fishing boats, even found one that reminded us of Forest Gump. We stayed here the night before our cruise.Nearby activities: Walking the port & restaurants; we were tired after the driveSafety: Very safeWalkability: Everything is walking distanceFood & drinks: Food & drinks are nearbyNoteworthy details: History but updated

Excellent Hotel. My wife and I celebrated our 12 year anniversary at Harbor House and it was great. After calling directly and speaking with Ms Dee we made our reservations. She made sure we had a great room with the best view. Also when I told Ms Dee we were planning on going out for dinner she advised me to make reservations which I am glad we did since the restaurant we chose was very busy. The whole experience was great from the location, friendly staff, and friendly guests. The rooms and property were very clean. We are already looking to book another stay .Rooms: Very Clean with nice views.Walkability: The Galveston Strand is a block away with many shops, restaurants and entertainment.

The hotel is beautiful and fun being right on the pier. We booked two rooms, a double queen for the kids and a king for us. When we checked in, the front desk service was wonderful and even whispered “let me see if I can bump you up to a king suite.” I thanked her and the king suite was more than we expected. I had never received an upgrade before so I was thrilled. The reason I am rating this hotel only 4 stars is because when I received my receipt under the door the morning we checked out, we were charged for the upgraded room. We were leaving on our cruise so I didn’t see it was an increased charge from our original reservation until I looked at the receipt later on. I feel like if it is going to be charged extra, it should be formed as a question and not made it sound like she was doing it for us.We will 100% stay here again, maybe just ask what the rate will be when being offered a “upgrade”.Noteworthy details: Was “upgraded” to a suite but then charged for the upgraded room rate.

Great place to stay in Galveston. Great, location, peaceful, convenient & clean. I appreciate the open stairway since I prefer stairs over elevators. Dee, at the front desk is an absolute bonus, so pleasant, friendly, kind & helpful!

We spent the day at the beach and then checked into the Harbor House around 9pm. It is right on the pier and you can see cruise ships, old war ships and dolphins playing in the water from your room window. The decor in the room was very unique it was as though I was in a ship. The shower was terrific and the room was so clean it was as though it was newly renovated. The beds were comfortable and the kids slept in the next day because check out was not until 11am. Me and my kids felt safe and check in and out was fast, the staff here is very friendly and welcoming. We had plenty of towels and soap also that they provided. Best sleep I’ve had in a long time. Thank you!

Miss Dee was such a pleasure! She made us feel right at home, so pleasant to speak to and easy-going. She booked us a room with an excellent view, and as first timers in Galveston, she gave us pointers as to how to spend our evening! Regarding the room, it was clean and spacious, but the restroom lacked ventilation, and the door to the shower didn't close properly, so a lot of water dripped out, causing slippery floors. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay. There's wifi and the breakfast included with the stay was fruit, cereal, coffee, oatmeal and muffins. For the first time in a while, I enjoyed a newspaper that was available right outside the breakfast room, i went over that with a coffee and with a great view.

What a perfect stay. I had booked an overnight trip for my 2 kids and I. We enjoy The Strand area and has dinner reservations at Willie G’s next door so after a day at a water park o wanted something convenient for us.Everything about The Harbor House from start to finish was great. The secured, on site parking is controlled access for guest only. Book in was simple, the front desk attendant was really friendly. It’s not a large hotel so it wasn’t super crowded and with it being on the harbor side of the island it wasn’t as congested as the sea wall side.We had the double queen room and it was perfect. The simple, nautical decor was well put together and not tacky looking at all. The smell that greeted us as we entered the room was amazing. The room was clean, looked like the pictures but better. The view was towards the parking lot but still had a nice water view. My kids enjoyed seeing the fishing boats come and go. The bed was really comfortable. The Strand is a short walking distance from The Harbor House. We were able to walk around some before dinner. The location during sunset was really nice too, with the water close by.I’m glad we stayed at The Harbor House, would definitely stay here again and again.

Very comfortable beds and big rooms. Excellent shower which is important for a hotel. The thin walls were the only thing I would say was a negative. 11pm a bunch of people decided to have a mini-convention on our floor in the hallway and we could hear them like they were in the room with us. And the air conditioner was making a horrible sound we had to turn off during the night. But the fan overhead was plenty.Overall though, a good experience and a nice little hotel in Downtown Galveston.

I have stayed at Harbor House 4 times for cruises, watched the cruise ship do the rotation (an amazing sight) EARLY in the am! Their coffee along with shrimp and cheese grits for breakfast. The rooms are beautifully decorated! Cleanleness superb. Cost to value, well worth it.
