The rooms need updating, old carpet with stains, had to wear socks.
Bed was fine, pillows were old and no cushion.
Chair in room was stained, no way someone sits in that chair!
Employees at the front desk don’t have uniforms nor shirts that stated they work here.
The main elevator is not working.
This is not up to double tree standard at all. We will choose another hotel before staying here again.
The pool/bar is great, always has been. The bartender (forget her name) was great! Great drinks.
Over all, just a 2 star hotel.
Walkability: Close to pleasure peer, easy walk to restaurants, steps from the beach

Right next to the ocean and service was fantastic. Grab a bite at longboard and breakfast buffet at doubletree.

What can I say? First the positive. It’s on the beach. Nice location. The staff was super friendly. They were really busy when I arrived. Looked like they had some challenging guests. But when they got to me, still friendly. The place was clean enough.
The negative, stuff you might want to know. Due to the awesome location, they have let the place slide a bit. It’s older. The main elevator is out. It’s been out long enough they covered the door with decorations in the lobby. The service elevator is super slow. Stay low if you go, or prepare to wait 10 minutes for the better view upstairs. The rooms were clean but in need of update. Bed was okay. But if you complain a lot, this isn’t the place. Go somewhere else. The place is tired but if you just use it to sleep while in the area, it’s okay. Road warriors will be fine, travel Karens will not be okay. Pool is good. View was outstanding, location is great.

This hotel could use a good deep cleaning. If it was not for the lady at the desk when I checked in, I probably would have left. I arrived early and they said that my room was ready and when I went to the room it reeked of mildew, and you could see the mildew on the lamps. I went to the front desk and was provided another room however that room was no better and was with an obstructed view. Finally, I was provided a room on the 4th floor, and it was good if I would have reserved a room with two beds instead of one king bed. I was tired of changing rooms, so I dealt with the two beds. The room was as clean as it could be. I think the hotel is in much need of a remodel. There was only one elevator that worked so anticipate a long wait for the elevator especially during check out. When I checked out, I notified the front desk clerk, and the lady was very rude. She never apologized on the hotel's behalf, and she said we were never charged an early check in fee so you should be thankful. I told her I was never told about an early check in fee otherwise I would have waited also I advised the staff that if a room wasn't available, I didn't have a problem waiting. She goes to say well let me speak to the manager, but she probably won't do anything to compensate for the bad experience. The clerk comes back and says the manager can take off $25 and that's it. You would think the manager would want to come out and address the concerns in person versus having the clerk relay the message. In summation, the hotel needs a deep cleaning and also needs staff that at least acts hospitable. I tried to give Hilton another chance however they failed the "smell" test literally. I will stick with the Marriot chain hotels going forward. The only positive from this experience, was the pool and the nice lady that checked me in.
Rooms: stay away from the 2nd floor

Great hotel in Galveston. Right alongside the seawall and convenient for getting around. The room was spacious and well maintained.

The rooms smelled like moldy wet towels. The carpet and beds felt damp to the touch. The lamp shade has rust running on the fabric from the moisture in the air. Just felt dirty over all.

Location was great, staff were very friendly, but the fire pit never worked.
In their add it shows the fire pit and the weather was best for the fire pit time. They were telling engineers fixing it but did not see anyone fixing it and did not work for our entire stay.

After my first night I woke up with the worst sore throat and congestion. After looking around, I found MOLD everywhere. My room was so dirty and gross. The second morning, woke up covered in BED BUG bites. Thats when I said enough. I’m out of here. Left 2 days early. Had to throw away my luggage and clothes so I didn’t bring bed bugs home. This place is freaking nasty. What are we supposed to do with this curtain by the way?

We decided to stay here to use our annual award stay and though we did not pay for the room, I would not have been disappointed if we had. As many of the reviews by others state, the hotel is in poor shape. The rooms in particular are what they call “lipstick on a pig”. They appear to be newly renovated but the devil is in the details. The shower head was loose and very finicky and had to be balanced or it wound fall out of the holder. The bathroom sink faucet was not bolted in/secured and was able to move around on the counter top. The floors are a vinyl flooring to help with cleaning up sand for sure, but it was tacky to the touch and we had to put a towel down to wipe our feel off before bed. Most concerning is the lamp on the desk. Though it was (also) not functional due to not staying in the position you place it, it also has electrical current running through it and would shock you if you touched it while turned on. The wall lamp is rusted and appeared soiled and the sitting chair felt dingy and dirty. Mostly due to the humidity but nonetheless, not a comfortable feeling. For the room, I would like to give the overall review a 2.5 but but due to the good location, value, staff (we dealt with), and pool area, it feels unfair.
The pool is great, features a swim up bar (was not being utilized during our use), a nice menu, and good drinks. The front desk staff on check in and check out were super friendly and accommodating and they were a highlight. I believe their names were Vonnie and the other lady’s name began with a T (can’t remember). They offered great cookies, informed me of the benefits of Diamond and were extremely friendly despite dealing with a busy check in.
The location is great and offers access to the beach just across the street. That is a great perk!
Overall, it was a decent stay as long as we were not in the room but in the future, I don’t think I’d use points or pay to stay here for the cost. We would check out a different spot.
Rooms: Poor condition. Worst part of stay.
Nearby activities: Beach, restaurants, and activities nearby.
Walkability: Great location to the beach. Cant be beat.
Food and drinks: Food was decent form Longboard. Not cheap but good. Would recommend Millers next door instead!

This is not how a Hilton property should be or look like. Room is falling apart, carpet peeling, moldy showers. 1 elevator for entire 5 story property, long waits. Other elevator appearently has been out of order for a while. Doors to balcony are filthy. Paint and rust peeling on doors and walls in bathroom and room. Unsecured parking even though they charge you for parking each day. Doors that are suppose to be locked coming in at night don't even close or lock. Staff is not very professional. Very sad property in serious need of a major renovation/upgrade and retraining of staff. Hilton should cross this one of their list or fix it.

First night we got there there were cockroaches on Night table. They didn’t offer another room until the next day. The main elevator was shut down and supposedly had been shut down for two years. We had to use the employee elevator, which was filthy. The swimming pool looked like it had rust on the bottom of it. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We chose this hotel based solely on the reputation of the Hilton name, a mistake we will not make again.
