My partner Parker and I are in the beginning stages of starting a business so we're doing as much research as possible to ensure that we cover all our bases. With that, we knew that at some point we would need assistance with tax filings and accounting along the way.
We scheduled a meeting with Sean and were extremely impressed with the knowledge and information that he had ready for us on our first call. Not only that, but that was probably the least pushy "sales" call that I've ever been apart of. SMD Consulting, specifically Joel Salas, was integral in consulting us on our organizational structure, development, key accounting, and key tax practices and strategies to help us launch our businesses as a full time venture. My wife and I have been familiar with the excellent service level and reputation of SMD for years so it was an easy selection when we were seeking guidance on a business acquisition. The team, led by Larry West, did an outstanding job of providing tax guidance, projections, legal coordination, financial review, etc during our engagement. They were always very professional, responsive and had great communication. We had a tight timeline and they were there for us to make sure we met the deadline – which we did! I've worked with SMD for over 3 years and they have been such a blessing to me. I don't even want to think about the financial mess I would have on my hands if I didn't start working with them. They helped me get my companies set up properly, and help me keep up with all of the many tax regulations and reporting requirements, give me guidance, and help me stay on top of everything. Sean and his team are top notch CPAs and consultants. They focus more on business consulting, though obviously taxes play an important role in that. They are very responsive and stay up to date with everything (particularly the fast paced changes related to the various business relief options associated with the COVID-19 issue currently going on). I would have no hesitancy in recommending Sean and his team to anyone looking for a solid business partner.
