Horrible experience ever. He doesn’t listen to you. He has done all possible tests on me but was not able to diagnose. He put me on pain killers. Don’t waste your time and money, go somewhere else

Doesn’t answer phone calls, voicemail message or send records to other medical providers. My father with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s has been left out to dry by Dr Ata and his staff.

He has just abandon me. He has left me without my seizure medication going on 4 days because his internet is down. My pharmacist is trying to emergency help me because it’s now the week end. This is the worst place you could ever go. It’s all about, it’s January test time! Same ones every time with no answers.

I called them so many times to get records sent to SS. They never returned my calls nor sent stuff to SS. My husband drove me up there to get my records so I could send them off to SS but they closed early! I even left a note in their door but they never called me back! Of course SS denied me benefits because they never sent them records! The doctor seemed friendly but the staff never answers phones or calls people back and they lost my records! Pathetic! Don't go here if you need records! Thank you for screwing up my life!

I had a really bad experience with Dr Ata.I was getting terrible seizures but we weren't sure what they were coming from. Dr put me on seizure meds to see if they would help. Unfortunately didn't work so he scheduled me for an EEG. When I came into his office for the results his nurse told me that they saw seizure activity on the test. Dr Ata came in and said my test was normal. Also said that he couldn't do anything else for me. I was going to the ER several times a week with violent seizures. Left and went to another dr. Was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy and put on the proper medication. Don't go to him if you have an out of the box problem. I think he's good for minor things that don't need figured out but I'd let the tough stuff for another doc.

Stay away. Horrible doctor. This guy is like a robot, giving everyone the allotted 7 minutes allowed by the insurance company. He does not listen to the details his patients give him because he's so burned out, its obvious. We told him very specific details about our sensitivity to medication and yet he insisted we try one of the most potent and controversial pharmaceuticals out there. We had an extreme reaction as we predicted and immediately called his office and said it was an emergency to his nurse and no one called back. 4 days later, we called again and they acted completely indifferent. Finally got him on the phone but not without the front desk telling us we had to pay $75 first (during the emergency) before Dr Ata would speak to us. He proceeded to tell us to stop overreacting and stop reading the internet. Does that sound like a professional doctor who is in service to his patients, especially during an emergency? I ended up losing the use of my eyes and a host of other paralyzing symptoms due to his carelessness and it has taken me 6 months to begin to recover and regain my life with the help of proper professional, compassionate doctors. The office also overcharged us by $500 and there was only one tech in all the staff that was friendly and knew anything about their job. Just look how they respond on these reviews in capital letters.

Called for an appt in Nov, told office had closed last Dec, stated I had not been notified so they did schedule an appt for Dec 7 at 10, now 10:15...no call, nothingSpoke with Office Manager a few days after finding out office had closed, because meds for my seizures had not been refilled, gave 2 days, she was rude, could not understand why I was unaware they had moved...again explain I did not receive any notice or that staff or Dr neglected to tell me a year ago in Nov that they were closing in Dec....still stated I should have been in....was not scheduled back for a year.....Did I have to reschedule some of my appts throughout the past years....yes, started in 2008.......they always throw that up when talking with them....did I reschedule and show up YESWish a patient had rights for when a Dr did not show up for a scheduled apptBiggest problem was ALWAYS getting meds refilled.....told not to miss a dose....ha, that is a laugh when you would call several times then finally just go to the office to make sure they did their job.....

Dr Ata is a great doctor, however the last few times trying to get an appointment has been difficult. Left a detailed vm regarding my husbands change in condition and was requesting to set an appointment. No call back so I followed up with the office, only to be told since he had an appointment in March and they were short staffed it was important for them to return my call. Really, I wouldn’t say that was the right thing to say to a caregiver. Not important, I stated that I wanted the office manager to call me but that remains to be seen if I actually get a callback. I understand being shorthand’s but to not return a call because they left it wasn’t warranted…

Dr. Ata has been fantastic for my life. He is a phenomenal neurologist. The entire staff including the atmosphere of Dr. Ata's practice is absolutely professional. I highly recommend Neurocare Texas for anybody who's looking for a great neurologist.

February 2021 by Shawnda G.
Last September I had an office visit with Dr Ata for my migraines. Before getting a nerve test and EEG I was informed the cost would be covered under my insurance copay. I verified this with them numerous times as I felt they were not needed. I have had migraines for years and not once were theses test ever suggested. Since I was told by Dr. Ata's staff that the test was covered under my copay, I went ahead and got the test done. A month or so later I received a bill for $346.71. I immediately called and spoke with the billing manager, Amanda who told me yes, the charges are covered under my copay and that the services were submitted to the insurance company incorrectly and that she would resubmit them. Here we are in February and I received a bill for $767.92. I called and spoke with Amanda who told me my insurance company misinformed them thus they misinformed me. When I told her, they need to honor what they advised me and write off the charges, she became very rude and told me my insurance said for me to call them and that they would correct the matter. So, I called my insurance company and was advised that my benefits were never checked by Dr. Ata's office and that all they need to do is submit the services under the office visit copay as opposed to billing them separately. The insurance representative tried to call them to advise how the codes need to be submitted, but the office was closed. The next day I received a call from the office manager Mrs. Ata telling me that she received the message from my insurance company and that they are working to resolve the billing issue. The following week I received a voicemail from Amanda (billing manger) stating they will not be writing off the charges and that I should know how my benefits work since I work for the insurance company and that I could set up a payment arrangement. So, I called Mrs. Ata (office manager) and left her a voice mail asking her to call me back regarding the matter. After 4 days of no response, I called her back. Once I introduced myself, she immediately got an attitude with me and told me that Amanda has talked to me numerous times about this and that I owe for the services. Every time I tried to explain to her the situation, she cut me off. She then went on to say I should know what my deductible is especially since I work for the insurance company. I am not sure why the fact that I work for the insurance company matters when they are not the ones submitting the billing, the doctors are. I have no way of knowing how they are going to submit for services outside of what they tell me. If you tell a patient certain test will be covered under their office visit copay and give them a price for other services they need as they have not yet reached their deductible, why would they assume your billing would not correlate? I trusted this physician and his office staff, and they scammed me into getting services I did not need by lying and saying one thing, then sending me a bill and acting as if I should have known the cost involved would be different from what they said. DO NOT TRUST THIS PRACTICE AND THEIR SHADY BUSINESS ANTICS. I went to Dr. Ata for help with my chronic migraines and the only thing I was received was lies, disrespects, poor patient care, and an unnecessary bill. There are other neurologists in the area and I strongly suggest you utilize one of them before even thinking about setting foot in Dr. Ata's office. One last thing, they said this has happened to their other patients so obviously they should Know better, yet they continue to lie and try to dress it up by saying they were misinformed.
