All time favorite locally and national outdoor recreational store with the best products and customer service. Been going for years from Seattle, California, Colorado, Florida, and to here.

Haley was very patient with me at the checkout counter. I am running a marathon tomorrow, and could not decide all of the things I wanted to get. So at the checkout counter, I ended up swapping some items out, and she was i’m and did not get upset or frustrated.
I almost bought a membership with her, but could not afford it at the moment, as I had already budgeted for the marathon. If you can buy a membership with Haley, you should!
Thank you, Haley for your excellent customer service!

Company went bag less which normally wouldn’t be a big deal, but when you buy 20+ items and have a handicap husband….please fix the handicap doors, offer to open them or give me something to carry my items. Highly disappointed as a member. I hope this review gets the attention of whoever to fix the handicap doors and teach your associates about kindness. Sad they just starred as I struggled.

Customer service is not dead at REI Baybrook. I had a great experience in the footwear area and really appreciate the time that was devoted to my needs. I usually get good service at REI so I have come to expect it. This visit however, was above and beyond. I am not posting the employees name because they may not want that but I sent a message to REI through the website thanking them for their help. It was so refreshing to actually get real help, not the competitor store model of it might be on the shelf 3 aisles over there type of attitude. Thank you REI!

Asked to leave an item on hold for me to retrieve the next day. Employee assured me it was no issue, the next day my resupply item was not available. Apparently items cannot be held past the current day of the hold. Drove half an hour with my mother to be turned away because a worker didn’t know their job. The employee I spoke to when I was trying to pick up was kind but ultimately unable to help me. Quite a let down, would have never left it on hold if they shared the proper information with me but instead had to waste my time for a disappointment.

Collins was an absolute gem helping me with my shoes as well as other items I ended up purchasing based on his recommendations! Knowledgeable and kind, my kind of interaction when going to spend my money!
Blake was very helpful as well.
Long live REI!

Went there to purchase a bike. Stood there waiting for someone to help me. Saw three team members standing at the front so I approached them and ask for help. After hesitation a guy came over and said "what do you want " in a very rude tone. Told him I wanted to see this bike. He called someone else over because he couldn't open them, she tried and couldn't so After about 10 minutes we left. Long story short. Went to Trek in Clearlake and spent $1500.00 on a bike because of poor service and inability to do your job. I will be canceling my Co Op membership and Rei credit card. Congratulations on costing your company a good customer. After speaking to the manager she was very apologetic so I decided to give them another chance. Second chance was just as bad. Was in the store for over 40 minutes with half of that digging through shoes and not one single person offered to help. Even had one guy walk past us several times and look at us. There will not be a third chance.

REI refuses to honor their one year return policy even though that’s what they push you every time you go to their store to become a member because you get a 1-return policy.I went back and bought them here because they promoted the one-year 365 day moneyback guarantee.I bought one high-end Oncloud sneaker. I liked the value of the policy that my wife bought a pair of hoka bindis two days later.Yes I wore it and there is some wear and tear but they look like new (minus some normal dirt at the bottom).I had returned a pair from wild pair in pearland that has always been so helpful. Whenever REI sold me the membership the girl at cashier desk and the sales rep said it doesn’t matter if it’s dirty. As long as it was within reason. To be honest there isn’t a scuff or mark on the shoe, just on the bottom. Nothing is wrong or anything.I tried to return it and they refused to accept it even though it’s only worn a handful of time. I rarely wear them. They said it’s been six months and they wouldn’t take it back. I paid more here because of the warranty and peace of mind.I never shopped at REI before this sneaker purchase but I won’t anymore. Bunch of crooks.

Product wise, it has my hiking needs. If you’re looking for a pleasant experience and a positive interface with employees, this IS NOT that. Surly, distracted employees make me prefer to shop online and cut out the apathetic interface. Nobody says hello when you walk in the door despite them looking directly at you. Employees are focused on their socializing huddles than customers. They seem annoyed to help you. Someone REALLY needs to course correct these people. Good products, unpleasant experience. Poor corporate culture filtering down to employees.
