Today was the fist time I have taken my parrot to this clinic. Dr. Hammer was so nice and explained how they hold a bird while doing an exam, and a toe nail trim and was so gentle with Pickles.Birds tend to get stressed being in a crate, car and going to a strange place. Pickles did great and we thank you for being so kind to our feathered child. Patsy

We’ve been bringing our dog here for years with no issues. We picked him up today and was asked for my ID when paying. The cashier proceeded to write down my drivers license number and DOB on the receipt. I asked why she was doing that and she claims it’s policy. We’ve been coming here for years, even just a few weeks ago and that’s never been done. I expressed concern about my personal information floating around their office in this day and age of fraud and identify theft. They were extremely nonchalant and claimed they get a lot of charge backs from customers and were told that’s what they have to do for all customers. Totally ridiculous to penalize customers that have never filed a chargeback. I even told them we’ve never filed a dispute and they didn’t care claiming it’s their policy for everyone. They clearly dont value their customers and didn't bat an eye over losing a loyal customer over a foolish policy. I have serious concerns about my personal information floating around their office and about someone using that information. Won't return

I just recently started using Summerfields, after taking my pet to Bedford Oaks and being mis diagnosed 2 times and given the wrong heart medicing, the people at Summerfields are so compassionate I will never take my pets anywhere else, My Marilyn was diagnosed with rapid growing cancer this last Saturday and it has truly broken my heart that this could of been prevented by the other vet, however Summerfields has given me a little longer with her and I so appreciate that, and when that time comes I will also be going to Summerfields. THANK YOU ALL FOR HAVING HEARTS OF GOLD !!!!!!!!!

When our Papillon broke his front leg, Dr. Metzler was very thorough and explained his injury and expectations very clearly. We thought he might have a slight chance of his leg healing. After bi weekly bandage changes for 8 weeks his leg just was not healing and he was not a candidate for a plate. We had to have his leg amputated which broke our hearts. Dr. Metzler told us that dogs adapt really well to having only 3 legs. She was so right. The staff at Summerfields is very caring and helpful. I felt like I was a pain in the you know what but not once did anyone ever make me feel like a bother. I love you all and I will continue to bring our little man to you.

I had a great experience bringing my guinea pig Toby in for an issue with his eye. I felt like Toby was in good hands with Dr. Hammer and everyone was so nice and accommodating for him. I will definitely have to bring in my other 3 piggies.

This is a fantastic vet that helped prolong my kitty's life with care to treat her chronic kidney disease (she lived another 6 years after diagnosis). The facility is clean and the rooms are private.

Summerfields is a great place to take your pet for boarding or medical services. The staff make you and your animal feel welcome and like family. I feel real bad when I have to leave the dog, JJ, for over week for trips but I have confidence that the the staff knows JJ and will make him feel safe and at peace while I’m gone. Also, with the the medical services they provide, I have an added peace of mind. I love this place and so does my dog JJ!

The office is clean, the staff is friendly. It was easy to set an appointment. The visit was thorough and all of our questions were answered. I felt confident that the doctor was knowledgeable and provided the best treatment plan for our cat.

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but my extraordinary experiences at Summerfields Animal Hospital compel me to share my story. From the moment I walked through their doors, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism that instantly put both me and my nervous pup, Max, at ease.Dr. Josh Meyers, in particular, deserves special mention. His expertise is matched only by his empathy and genuine love for animals. During our first visit, Max was understandably skittish, yet Dr. Meyers approached him with such patience and calmness that my little buddy relaxed almost immediately. It's clear that Dr. Meyers doesn't just treat animals - he truly cares for them. The level of thorough care provided by Dr. Meyers and the Summerfields team is unparalleled. From routine check-ups to more complex health issues, Dr. Meyers has been an unwavering support. He explains conditions and treatments with clarity, ensuring that I am fully informed and comfortable with Max's care plan. Moreover, his follow-up calls after appointments demonstrate a level of dedication and customer service that is all too rare these days. The hospital itself is a testament to the team's commitment to animal welfare. Clean, well-organized, and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, Summerfields is a place where I know Max receives the best possible care. The staff are all incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions and provide advice. What truly sets Summerfields apart, however, is their ability to create a community feel within the clinic. Dr. Meyers and his team remember Max's quirks and preferences, greet us by name, and treat us not just as clients but as part of the Summerfields family. They celebrate Max's milestones with us and empathize with our concerns, making each visit a personalized and reassuring experience.During a particularly challenging time when Max fell ill unexpectedly, Dr. Meyers's swift and decisive action was undoubtedly life-saving. He worked tirelessly to diagnose the issue, consulting with specialists and keeping me updated every step of the way. His dedication during those tense hours was a beacon of hope and a clear reflection of his commitment to his patients' well-being.In a world where the human-animal bond is so precious, it's comforting to know that there are veterinarians like Dr. Meyers and facilities like Summerfields Animal Hospital that not only understand this bond but also nurture it with every interaction. I cannot recommend them highly enough; they have not only earned my trust but also my deepest gratitude for the loving care they've provided to Max over the years.

If I could give NEGATIVE stars I would!!! The DVM Josh Myers was so brutal with our new kitten, Lou, my wife had to take the cat from him and walked out.We recently rescued a blind newborn kitten through a rescue and she was up for her four week check up. Mr. Myers seemed annoyed with the fact that she was a rescue and didn’t want to be bothered with the cat and or my wife’s questions. The kitty is blind but perfectly happy and healthy. He asked my wife “why would you even bother with a stray cat that’s probably going to die.” He was very clear that we were wasting not only our time but his as well. When he reached to pick up Lou she was sleeping and he did it so hard she screamed and tried to bat at him at which point he threw her down on the table. THREW A NEWBORN KITTEN!! He then proceeded to attempt to give her a vaccine upon which he jammed into her little leg. She is now limping. We will probably wind up taking her to another vet for evaluation if it continues.Overall the experience was awful and that place should be avoided at all costs for the sake of your animals.

I had an awful experience today. It was my 1st and last time ever going to Summerfields Animal Hospital. The front desk staff was friendly. I really liked how they knew most of the animals by name and greeted them. It was a good first impression! However, that quickly turned around when we saw the doctor, Josh Myers. He was clearly frustrated about something that happened before he walked into the room. He grabbed my sleeping 1.5 pound foster kitten by by her scruff and scared her. He was holding her up and looking at her like he was disgusted and we were wasting his time. She was screaming because he was pinching her too hard. She tried to swat at him because she was in pain and he chunked her down on the exam table. He was frustrated and was being entirely too aggressive with her. He then jabbed a needle in her hip. I'm not even sure what vaccine it was. It's been a couple hours and Lou is still limping. The doctor kept referring to my foster kitten as a stray cat and couldn't understand why a rescue group would even try to save a blind cat. He said that she probably had some disease and it caused her to go blind. He did absolutely no exam on her. When I asked about getting her blood work he responded "the rescue wont pay for that, you can pay for it". I was concerned about her right eye draining and wanted to make sure it wasn't infected. He didn't even look at her eyes. I just put Lou back in her bag and left. I didn't even check out. I was so upset and appalled at what just happened. I've scheduled an appointment at another vet's office to make sure Lou is okay.

Dr. Metzler was amazing with our cockatiel Coco who broke his leg! She was so kind and gentle with him and made me feel so much better during the whole process. The 2 hour drive from our house to her office was worth every minute!!
