I went on a late Friday afternoon. Not too much of a rush and it was free. Really, enjoy the art work and how creative the setups were in each room. I definitely will be returning soon! Next time I will reserve a ticket for the tour to understand the background of the artist and their work. It was amazing. Also, they have QR codes which were very helpful.

Modern Art Museum has such a great exhibit of art! If you are in DFW area check it out!! Fridays are free admission as well!! Great for all ages and a new cafe just added for a nice lunch. Wondering why 3 stars? An employee at the museum that scans tickets presumed to be a little racist. He followed my parents and I around and had an attitude because I was supposedly too close to a piece of art I was admiring. The worker told me to not get too close in case I fall. I’m a grown woman that can hold her balance. There were other races at the museum who were closer to the art work and the worker did not say anything to those guest. Modern Art Museum please make sure you make all guest feel welcome. I know one bad apple doesn’t stop the show and there were other friendly staff at the museum. Please continue to respect all cultural ethnicities visiting the museum.

The architecture alone merits a visit, as it was designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadau Ando . The moat at twilight reflects the blue glittering words of the site-specific Jennie Holzer, which is aptly named Kinda Blue. You can see it from across the grounds outside the restaurant even when they’re not open. BTW the restaurant is also fabulous and shouldn’t be missed.

Beautiful building, nice and quiet. Worth stopping in even if the art isn’t your style. The food at the cafe was awesome

Love the modern art museum! Beautiful art and love that certain days are free. I love how the collections change periodically to enjoy new viewings. A great place for a date or a new hangout experience with friends/family!

What a gem! Cafe Modern on a rainy afternoon is hard to beat. Order the chorizo cornbread and save room for the tiramisu presentation! Didn't send a picture because you have to see it... Then eat it of course.

It is a great museum, especially in terms of it's architectural beauty. Surrounded by a small pond, the reflections of water create great shadows and lights on the ceilings if you are there at the right time of the day. Their permanent collection is small, but upstairs you also get to see some temporary exhibits. On Sundays, you get a 50% discount.

To sing the praises of one of the world's leading art museums would just be the first chapter here. This is not only a world class museum, but the curators are so innovative, and locals and those stopping by from elsewhere, will always be in for an exquisite eyeful. After watching a recent Art21 special on Mark Bradford I was so excited to see the works from the series come alive inches from my nose, as well as other video works. I'm a huge fan (follower?) of Nam Jun Paik, and it was thrilling to encounter two of his bravado pieces, each with their own mystery and majesty. And Lorna Simpson, oh my, the works on view are some I've not seen, more recent work, and they are deeply all-encompassing. The show that is currently on view has many works built on technology, and several are interactive in various ways. I always leave this museum feeling good.

This Museum is like a smaller version of MOMA in NYC, the building is large tall and spacious with some amazing contemporary Art, there is a lot of room, and not too many Art located in each room. There is a free Friday entrance, parking is free, it has a very soft relaxed atmosphere. We were not able to go upstairs on the day of my visit because they had opening show for new Art exhibition which was open to members only, not nice if one is traveling out of town to see Art, leaving me to make better planning before visiting again. Was it worth the visit absolutely.

Had a great time at this museum which has vastly improved its collection. So many perfect fits for art displays. Docents are also very good and security is alert. No I didn't touch a thing!

I came here during their free admission weekend. They have a parking lot and street parking available as well. Since this was my first time I wasn't sure where to go and the front desk staff was helpful on showing me different routes to take to explore the museum. I started on the second floor and checked out the various modern exhibits, I recognized Kehinde Wiley who has paintings in the Kimball Art Muesum. I'm a fan of abstract art and was pleasantly surprised by the abstract art pieces I saw. Make sure to checkout the sculpture garden on the second floor and the huge kaws statue on the ground floor. The gift shop has a decent selection on postcards (that you can frame as well), apparell, shoes, books, stickers, jewelry etc.

I hadn’t been to the Modern in a LONG time…and shame on me, because it was absolutely fantastic! Some really lovely and inspiring works…BUT NOT ALL completely behind glass. We really enjoyed taking in several shows, and then we enjoyed a meal at their restaurant, which was great, AND the works are begging to be discussed…which again was perfect during lunch conversation…plus the restaurant overlooks a beautiful pool of water, calming and again…a way of keeping all your senses engaged while AT the modern. I will absolutely be back ASAP!

If you like modern art, do not miss this museum! My family thoroughly enjoyed the artists on display here. I also found the exhibited pieces to be appropriately illuminated for optimal viewing. Parking was easy and there's a nice outside area with a sculpture.
