Purchased a vehicle today and Lee made me feel so at ease and comfortable. He explained everything so well and didn't try scam me. Talked to someone else that purchased a truck from here and he said it was his 3rd car from Hertel. Hearing from him and Lee, i would definitely purchase another vehicle from Hertel. Good deals and good people.

From when I initially called to the final signature, Lee made purchasing a vehicle so easy! He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. When I arrived, he already had the vehicle pulled in the bay ready for me and most importantly he was incredibly kind and patient with my children. Thank you Lee for everything!!

Recently we bought a car from this dealership. While buying this car we were convinced by the salesman that if we bought the extended warranty plan they recommend, everything would be covered. We paid $1800 cash for the warranty which gave us a drive train warranty for 50,000 miles.Less than 2 months later, when my 19 year old son was driving home on the freeway when he lost all power. Everything. When I got to him he was sitting in a narrow section on NE loop 820 on the left hand side. It's been 2 months now. The racket of a warranty company has nickel and dimed us into about a grand and won't fix/ replace the engine, because it threw a rod. The 2008 Toyota had an apparent outstanding recall that Hertel failed to have taken care of. The gaskets leaked oil, and we unknowingly bought the car just prior to it throwing a rod.We have reached out to Hertel a dozen times so they could make this right to no avail. Stay away from this company. They are selling lemons. They told us the warranty would cover anything in the drive train. What they failed to say was their favorite warranty company has a $3500 cap. So really, it's a scam, praised by Hertel.

I bought a car here a couple months ago for around 8k, plus the salesman, a gray haired man in shorts advised me that due to the mileage on the 2008 Toyota, to also buy this extended warranty he highly "recommended", which would give me another 50,000 mile coverage for the whole drive train. When I say recommended, I mean pushed on us.My son had the car for about 50 days when he was driving home on the freeway at night. The car completely lost power. As in, it just quit. On the freeway. In the fast lane. He had to fight it to get it out of the lane of traffic into the emergency lane and not wreck. We had it towed to our family mechanic (Caliber Auto Care) who had never dealt with the warranty company before. This is how it started, our mechanic put a camera into the engine and discovered a HOLE in the engine, which was absolutely dry of any oil. As in dry for so long there is no way it wasn't like that when we bought it, and this is what our mechanic said. No way it was my son's fault. This 2008 Toyota had had an ENGINE recall that was never fixed. Hertel sold us a car with an ENGINE RECALL and didn't say a word about it so that WE could address it. That year's model Toyota had a manufacturer defect that caused the rubber seals to allow all the oil to leak out and cause... A rod to break off and puncture the engine. It threw a rod. Now this warranty company immediately requested we pay for the mechanic to drop the oil pan ($600). So we did. They finally sent an adjuster, who asked us to authorize and pay for the bottom oil pan to be dropped. Our mechanic explained that we didn't need to do that for him to see the hole, with the camera. The mechanic said he would never need to drop the bottom oil pan and that it was apparently the warrant company's way of chipping away at the cost and push it off onto us. Now we called Hertel and told them what had happened. They sold us a complete LEMON, and on top of that talked us into buying an extended warranty from a company with shady tactics. We were never told by the salesman that there was a cap on repair costs, only that they would cover the whole drive train for another 50k miles. Now, Hertel has just left us hanging with what amounted to an $11k (warranty and TTL) paper weight. That could have gotten my son in a bad car wreck. Do not trust this dealership. Most certainly do not buy the extended warranty plan they are PUSHING on you. They prey on working people here.

I am compelled to review this car dealership. Shopping for vehicles is a very stressful event, especially for used vehicles. Lee Whicker and the staff at Hertel went above and beyond with the level of service and care I received. I am still shocked at how outstanding the service was I received. I made an out of state purchase. I came in for one day and had to have the vehicle shipped. Lee made me feel so confident in this transaction. He was honest, not pushy, addressed any and all concerns I had and even ensured certain details were covered that were not his responsibility.

I bought a Lexus SUV from out-of-state, all the way across the country. Lee helped me through the process and was very upfront about the condition of the vehicle. When I flew in, Lee was ready and the Lexus was in better condition that I had imagined. Shop confidently.

What a fantastic experience. Lee was extremely responsive and went above and beyond in helping me purchase a vehicle from out of state. The Mustang was represented correctly and arrived in the condition described. I’ve purchased remotely several times and this was by far the best experience I’ve had. Thank you!

I bought a 1999 Jeep Wrangler from WA state. Definitely took a risk purchasing a car I never actually saw in person or test drove. Lee Wicker was my salesman and he was wonderful. He was easy to communicate with and was very honest about what I was buying. If I'm ever in the market again for a used car I will definitely use Lee again. He even went out of his way to help out while I was having issues with the shipping company. 10/10 definitely recommend. Thank you Lee!

We have purchased two used cars through Hertel Auto Group and I won't go anywhere else. We even drove from south Florida to purchase our latest car from here for our daughter who is moving back to the metroplex! Lee is a trustworthy helpful associate and it was a joy to work with him both times we have purchased cars from the Hertel Auto Group! Thanks Lee for all you help!

Just purchased our 3rd vehicle from Lee at Hertel Auto Group. Did my research on used cars diligently with consumer reports car guides and was pleased to find the perfect used car again at Hertel. The process was extremely Friendly, Easy and Honest. We used to live in DFW but now live 145 miles away and still chose Hertel for this car purchase because of the high level of confidence and history we have with this business.

tl;dr: It is (still) hard to trust car dealerships. Have a trusted mechanic inspect your vehicle or else you may buy a 13,000$ CASH vehicle with major suspension issues. I still don't think they were maliciously misleading.... But due to their slim profit margins they probably aren't inspecting their vehicles to the customer's best interest.Edit update: Vehicle bought needed new brakes, rotors were salvageable ... However, the BIG issue & concern I have is one of the suspension control arms needed replacing.... with additional repairs pending. As such, before you purchase, I now suggest having the vehicle checked out by your trusty mechanic before dropping over $13,000++++ in cash.End update.Begin Original:Had the pleasure of interacting with Lee for the purchase of a vehicle. He was very professional, friendly, and thorough in his explanations. The vehicle we looked at had the carfax ready and available (I think most of their cars do?) which is always a plus. I do not think these folks are out to deceive people.Overall, this place seems to be one of the few legit and sincere used car dealerships out there.

There’s not a lot of trustworthy car dealerships, but this is one of the few. I bought a vehicle from here and the car started having trouble the day after I bought it. They bent over backwards to get the issue resolved. Lee was great before, during, and after the vehicle was purchased. I would definitely buy a car from here again.
