A great job of re-creating what the fort was like . We easily spent a couple of hours reading and looking at everything. Plus a lovely walk to a lookout up above.Definitely worth stopping in

One of the stops on our road trip list. Nicely maintained and insteresting sites. Learnt some history and life at the fort. I never though life at a fort can be so luxurious for the officer's family.

This was an interesting place. There were some living history actors who answered a myriad of questions, and their information was insightful. Most buildings are well-preserved, so it feels like you're stepping back in time. I recommend this place, but make sure you bring water. It can get hot out there.

Amazing piece of the history of the American West. Helpful staff, exhibits, lots of outdoor walking under a towering mountain, hiking trail, picnic area. Actual restored buildings.Reasonable entrance fee. RV parking, dogs allowed on leash, bathrooms, water available. If you go in summer, go very early. Recommended.

Excellent history museum and fort. The fort buildings are being renovated with several furnished. History of the soldiers lives and military activities are well told. There is a 20 minute video giving a great historical background of the fort. Many original cannons and guns on display. Really enjoyed the military hospital and stories on actual people’s treatments. We were there about 2 1/2 hours. Beautiful scenic location by Davis mountains.

There is nothing!A billion explanations of a place "that was" of which today you can't even see a shadow. A stage that I totally advise you against.

Objectively, the park is clean and provides information on American History that I personally was unaware of.Subjectively, I did find it hard to sit through the video as it seemed to glorify the attack on Native Americans that occurred during that time. The trip to Fort Davis was worth the time I spent but not my favorite National Park.

If you have even the slightest interest in American or military history you'll probably enjoy this. The content focuses almost solely on the history of the Fort and doesn't provide a lot of context. Neither a positive nor a negative in my view. However, you can get up close with the buildings, ruins, and artifacts and immerse yourself in the space and time in a spectacular way.

So much history and beauty at this location. We ventured from Marfa, Texas to visit and were really blown away at the experience. I highly suggest going into the visitor center and watching the film. It was a suprise to see none other than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar narrating the entire history of Fort Davis in a cowboy hat ? it was very interesting hearing him talk about the history. Then go wonder a bit and then sit down and stop for a minute… just look around at the buildings still standing and overall land… no doubt this will lead you to imagine what it was like back then. Next, take a hike to the top of the ridge or back toward the dried up meandering river in the left side of the property and enjoy your day??

Outstanding place! I was planning to stop by for an hour and ended up spending 4hrs! One of the greatest short somewhat intense hikes I had (around 2 miles). Astounding views from the trail, I highly recommend going on it! The fort is nicely reconnected (partially-work on progress), they even have loud speakers playing military drill sounds periodically! It makes you feel very emerged! If you are in the area it's a must to stop by!
