Cabela’s store manager denied my wife purchasing a hand gun for HOME protection/LEISURE after my 18yr old son and I tested the best suited for this. He said it was a “straw” purchase.
Cabela’s store manager denied my son purchase of a rifle for home protection/leisure use saying he didn’t feel comfortable.
They didn’t loose their FFL but they did loose a customer and family from doing business with them. Hopefully they loose more customers after reading this.
I’ve read that if you want to loose your second amendment right Cabela’s is the place to go to, they will gladly report you to NICS.
WORST uncomfortable environment sensation around those employees.

Sooooo I was interested in selling my firearm and decided to check out Cabela's website and inquire info on SELLING MY GUN as Cabela's Official Website stated I could get detailed information and to call to store to get this DETAILED INFORMATION. I called to get DETAILED INFORMATION on SELLING MY GUN... KEY WORDS. when I called, to my dismay, I didn't get the name of the gentleman, but I explained I was interested in selling my gun and wanted to know if he could tell me more or less a rough estimate to how much I could potentially get for selling my gun, in a quick stirn and rude voice stated that ," We don't discuss those things over the phone" and simply stayed quiet, and just like that the call was over. Now I called back again to point out that he was of no help to me, for him to state that I didn't ask anything and that he answered my question... now I'm reasonable, it's true he answered my question, but was extremely rude, and gave me zero DETAILED INFORMATION on SELLING MY GUN as the Website stated would be the case. If Im wrong, fine, but first off what's the point in telling me to call to get DETAILED INFORMATION on SELLING MY GUN if they can't talk about it???? Secondly the only info he gave me was to bring it in the store and safety protocols in doing so..... Now if I wanted to bring it in couldn't I have just done that, WHAT'S THE POINT OF CALLING?!?!?! THIRDLY Even if I'm in the wrong, he didn't need to be rude, there's better ways to talk to people especially if you are in CUSTOMER SERVICE. DON'T NEED THIS INDIVIDUAL FIRED NOR DO I WISH ILL OF HIM BUT DAMN HE WAS RUDE!!!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE GUN DEPARTMENT. The call was around 4 p.m. mountain time today July 24 2024 , Cabela's El Paso, Texas, to the gun department. just for reference.

It’s just really small for a cabelas and the fishing section isn’t much bigger or better than a fishing section at Walmart

I took my Dad for his birthday as he wanted to see the Cabela’s here in El Paso. He was immediately disappointed at the size of the Cabela’s, a neighborhood Walmart is bigger. Cabela’s all throughout the US have their own building not connected to another and are immensely bigger.
