Thurman's Mansion is open to members of the Driftwood Golf Course, the food is incredible, the service bar none and the location and view is comfortable and serene. Well worth it!

Our favorite BBQ anywhere in the state! Family style is always a favorite. Brisket, sausage, and ribs were exceptional! You can’t beat their sauce either. It’s worth the drive and the wait!

Came for the fire-pit smoked BBQ and stayed for the walking “tour” of amazing wildflowers & butterfly gardens. May be a stretch to call it a tour — but make no mistake this ranch-like setting knows how to design landscape gardens. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We opted for the outdoor heavily tree-shaded patio gathering space for our large group of seven. We decided on a lunch visit instead of dinner and were seated immediately. Primetime evening hours may require a longer wait time. Plenty of menu options to accommodate picky eaters. This venue is BYOB and has an adjacent “cellar” for adult beverage purchases. Located in the scenic Hill Country about 20 minutes southwest of Austin.

Good BBQ does not need sauce. Unfortunately this BBQ lacked taste and the great flavor I am accustomed to. The sauce was the best part of this BBQ. I was so disappointed with he BBQ. I will definitely not return for the BBQ. Consider putting more smoke on your meat.

Being in the area I had to work in a trip to the Salt Lick. We arrived on a Saturday at about 11:30 am. It was a rainy weekend but that did not stop the crowds from showing up. There was a wait at that time for about 15 minutes. Waited outside under a canopy until we received a text that our table was ready. There were 6 of us and we all ordered family style (all you can eat) which was reasonably priced. We received plates of brisket, ribs, and sausage. I am not a rib person but the brisket was a 4-5 and the sausage was a 5-5 The beans were a 3-5. The potato salad was the same. The coleslaw was off the charts delicious 5-5. The waiter was very attentive and the place was full. He did a great job. I am glad we were able to eat at an Austin area icon.

We were in the area for the weekend and had just finished a wine tasting down the street so we stopped to pick up some BBQ to go. We were staying in an Airbnb with fabulous views and outdoor deck so wanted to enjoy our BBQ in a more tranquil environment. It was super crowded and there was already a long line of people waiting to be seated so it was a great call for us. They also have a BYOB area where you can get your food to go and then picnic in their outdoor area with your food and own beverages. This seemed to be a popular option but there was still plenty of space. We ordered brisket and asked for the point. We also got some Pork ribs and sausage. The sides we ordered were potato salad and beans. The brisket was very moist but didn’t have any of the bark that is typically found on the point. Our order of preference on the meats was sausage was the best, followed by ribs and then brisket. The beans were quite good but the potato salad was really strange and somewhat sweet so wouldn’t recommend it unless you like sweet potato salad. We loved the bread that was provided! Most BBQ places just give you sliced white bread from a loaf of basic white bread but this bread was nice and thick with sesame seeds on the crust, very moist and tasty! Don’t be surprised or put off by the number of cars in the lot especially if you are getting to go. We walked right up to order and our food was ready in less than 10 minutes. Glad we tried it and might go back for sausage and outdoor picnic experience.

A friend recommended this place because she had fond memories of it from previous visits years prior. When we got there, no outside seating, no band -- ok, we get that. But don't misrepresent the food you sell. NEWS FLASH: mashed potatoes mixed with bbq sauce is NOT potato salad, as billed on your menu. When I pointed this out to our waitress, her very astute response was "Well, people seem to like it". I told her I'm sure they did, but that still didn't make it potato salad. Some of us adore potato salad with our bbq, and can become very disappointed when what you serve us is not what you put on the menu. Also, my husband's pork ribs were just barely cooked to be edible. Not fall-off-the bone cooking that a seasoned bbq joint should aspire to. He said he had to work to get the meat off the bone, and he was very disappointed. My friend who recommended the place was embarrassed that she encouraged us to dine there, as she was disappointed in the meat, the sides, the waitress's dumbass remark, the lack of energetic vibe that she remembered -- it was all just a memory, because it sure wasn't visible that night. We won't be going back. And for the management: CALLING A PILE OF POTATOES WITH BBQ SAUCE A POTATO SALAD IS FALSE ADVERTISING! CALL IT WHAT IT IS -- A PILE OF MASHED POTATOES WITH BBQ SAUCE.

The half chicken was amazing and my favorite meat. Turkey, brisket, and pork ribs were also delicious. The beans were okay, but later I had the leftovers with my own gluten free bread and it was better. The giant container of pickles was unexpected and very tasty. The guy at the to-go counter said "everything but the bread and sauce" are gluten free and that there's no hidden cheese or dairy in any of the meats. I didn't get any symptoms after eating, which confirms what he said. It also means no cross contamination for me. We'll definitely be back!

We have eaten barbecue from coast to coast, and this facility is one of the coolest places we've seen. The food, however is more along the style of SC barbecue with the tangy/tart sauce, then you throw in the (German?) style potato salad and cole slaw, and it's not the Texas style barbecue we're used to and love. Service was great, but the flavors weren't our favorites. With it's unusual flavors and out-of-the-way location, we'll likely not be back, but so glad we tried it and now we know.
