***ATTN TOM THUMB CORPORATE LEADERSHIP TEAM***
The DeSoto Tom Thumb pharmacy team is in need of coaching and training specifically when it comes to customer service basics. Smile, greet, respect the customer, and serve us in a kind manner, etc. If the service improves, the pharmacy sales will soar.
I’ve never been pleased with the level of service at this location but have dealt with it. However, recently, it’s worse than ever.
In the past, I have often visited the pharmacy drive-through window to find that contrary to the hours posted on the window, the window will be closed forcing the customer to come in. Once you are inside, be prepared to be treated as if you are an inconvenience whether you are the only person in line or there are three people in front of you.
As of recently, it has been impossible to get in touch with the pharmacy team via telephone. If that, the only way that I have been able to reach them is by calling the customer service desk and requesting that a manager go over to the pharmacy counter to investigate why the phone is not being answered. I have had to do this twice in the last week. Photo attached is a screen shot of the incoming call from the pharmacy as a result of a manager having to walk over and request someone from the pharmacy to call me. The lady who called me back was extremely rude and it was apparent that she was upset about having to call me back. Makes sense as she why she didn’t answer the phone in the first place. This is absolutely not acceptable.
I have been a loyal member to Tom Thumb for years. I frequent the gas station, the grocery store and the pharmacy. It’s very convenient as my home is located less than 2 miles from here. I am hopeful that the situation will change so that I can remain a customer of Tom Thumb and can continue doing business here.

Visited on 9/11/24 to purchase 18 Catfish Fillets from the Meat Dept. The black gentleman was already busy working upon approaching the counter. He asked for my request with no problem. After I specified the selection and quantity I asked if he could please change his gloves. He facial expression showed instantly that he was pissed. He sighed,changed his gloves, placed the fillets in the bag, weighed them and handed them to me. I told him "Thank You and I appreciate it." Granted, he could have had a rough day as many of us encounter. Sadly, the fact that I would have to request glove replacement was troubling. All kinds of meats are being handled and cross contamination IS REAL.. After today I DEFINITELY won't return to this TT location.

I've come to know Thom Thumb over the years as a more upscale, specialty item store. You come to expect a certain service & standard. I usually have no problems. Hence my 4 star rating for Thom Thumb overall.
Desoto, TX location:
Husband put in order for graduation cake 2 weeks ago. He asked the woman if he needed to leave a down payment & needed to call to verify cake order. He was told no. Cake would be ready & pay when cake was ready. Went to pick up cake on Saturday, May 28th and the bakery didn't see the order. So we ended up with no cake for graduation party that day. It was too late to order another one from Thom Thumb or anywhere else. Very unprofessional. Usually when I've ordered cakes from Thom Thumb at other locations, there's been no problem. This is the first & last time I'll ever order another cake from Desoto, TX Disappointed especially around the deli and prepared food area. No it had nothing to do with customer service or an unclean store. It's the lack of specialty items that I've grown accustomed in other Thom Thumb stores. Even the meat in the "lunchbox" was cubed instead of shaved. It was different than what I usually buy in other Thom Thumbs. I was also looking for sushi rolls but none. Also the hot soups station was non-existent. I felt like I was in a glorified Walmart. Also I know it depends on what people buy in the area. I was a little disappointed in this Thom Thumb.

Worst bakery department ever. No customer service, nonchalant and dismissive attitudes, and didn’t have my order ready after having 3 days to get it ready. Don’t waste your time here.

NEVER DO CURB SIBE PICK-UP HERE **
This is my Go-To store, have been going for years. Lately everything from produce to staff has been going down hill. I recently had a baby and decided to try out their pickup service. I ordered before 6pm to pick up at 8pm.. received a message around 7:50 they started picking out my order, around 8pm I received notification stating they were delayed. Around 8:30 i received a message my order was ready.. I live 3 minutes away so I loaded up my newborn and arrived at 8:35. I was sitting outside for 40 MINUTES after they said they would be out shortly. I then went inside, informed the general manager of what had happened and told me I was at fault because that department goes home at 7pm ?? I was told you could pick up all the way to 9pm and since I was being contacted after 7pm that made no sense. The GM told me to get a cart and proceeded to slam my order / groceries on the floor. He did not offer to help or apologized for any inconvenience. I than arrived home to notice produce was all half way bad and the cheese was MOLDY and EXPIRED

I shop here often. Pretty well stocked. I noticed there are fewer sales associates than in the past. Almost easier to self check than to wait in a long line. I shop here even when it's cheaper at other stores because of quality and selection. Service should be equal to the aforementioned. On a positive note Kristen who works self check is polite, courteous and knows the store. She is definitely a brand ambassador. Looking for wantons and she knew exactly where they were. Oddly shelved in produce next to tofu. Very impressive

I live in the neighborhood next to the store, near Grimes Park, and until my past experience I won't be returning. I will shop at the one in Duncanville, go Winco or even Joe V's. Some days ago I purchased 10lbs of chicken thighs which were on sale. I called the store before going there to be sure they had them in stock. I go to the store and I clearly told the butcher, an older Mexican man behind the counter, that I wanted 10lbs of boneless chicken thighs. He even repeated it back to me.. I watched the butcher get them from a box he had next to him. He weighted them and even added a few to make it an even 10lbs. He tagged/labeled them a them as thighs. I go to complete my purchase at the self checkout, which I personally hate, but they had one manned register open and it was busy. Anyway I complete the transaction, get home, and put them in the freezer for a later date. I thaw them out a few days later and I notice the butcher tagged the bag as thighs and gave me all breast. I know it not the biggest problem in the world but I'm really pissed because I paid for the thighs and was given the wrong item. Also the cashier that manned the self check wasn't the best/most helpful. That's not even the first or second time I've had issues with that store. I'm a resident and homeowner who would like to keep my sales tax dollars in my city but constant customer service issues and product quality problems are driving me to shop in other areas. Oh and I didn't get the sales price for the thighs or breast because of a technicality that wasn't printed. That self checkout cashier was very argumentative and failed to see the issue with the sale. She should have grabbed a manager but I was pretty much done. Just really disappointed all around. Thumbs down ?

The cashiers are too rushed. When you try to check your pricing, they rush you through, then you have to go stand in line at CS.

The Desoto Tom Thumb has a horrible smell upon entering. I've gone to other locations and this is the only Tom Thumb with that horrific smell. Please explain. Other than the entrance smell, my shopping experience has been good for the most part.
