This place is horrible. I brought my cat in there a few years ago. He was having trouble urinating and was in ALOT of pain and his tummy was so swollen. They wanted $3,500 to help my baby. They told me to apply for care credit. I only qualified for 500.00 so they took the 500 and did the bare minimum and sent us home. My baby passed away about a week later. I would have made payments to save him but they did not care about his life. We spent hours and hours there in a tiny room crying because money was everything to them and life of a 2 year old cat was nothing to them. If you don't have ALOT of money, don't go here. I truly feel they murdered my baby because of money.
There charges are VERY HIGH and they just don't give a crap about your fur baby? these people are the most horrible people I have ever met. I have told my entire family to never go here!

our experience at the Denton County Animal ER was excellent. The veterinarian, Dr. Polley and her staff were exceptional. They were kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. They took their time to explain and help our little dog. We have used them in the past and are never regretful. I will always use them in times of emergency.

On their card they have it written, "Compassionate Care. Always." and they 100% hold true to that value! My Chihuahua, Radar was in labor and after a couple of hours of trying to push I knew something was wrong. On a Sunday evening I took my sweet, suffering dog to the closest pet ER and they determined that her 3 pups were to big for her to birth and that she needed a C-section that was going to be a minimum of $4000. I didn't qualify for care credit and they basically sent me away with a suffering dog. I sat in their parking lot trying to find any 24 hour vet clinic who would try and work with my financial situation I called about 5 other places and when I called Denton they told me to bring her and that they have more options for payment. As soon as I pulled up Hannah came out to help me in and took her straight to the back. Megan gave me 3 different places to try and qualify for credit and then they ended up being able to help her naturally give birth without surgery. They were the only place that really cared about the well being of my dog and not the money! Now, I know they need to get paid and they should and they WILL but they did what they had to do first! I am so extremely grateful that my dog and her puppies are going home with me and my son at 2am in the morning! Would give them more stars if I could!

Edited in 2024 to update: My Clover cat is stronger than ever—over 11 years since Denton County Animal ER saved her life! We’ve been fortunate to have them help all of our animal family members along the way. I always recommend DCAER.
From 2013:
The staff was direct, very kind, and offered several options for treating our Clover cat’s advanced liver failure. The billing department also created a few solutions for our financial concerns about being able to afford the care Clover would require.
Over the course of our cat's hospitalization, the ER took our many calls and encouraged our visiting Clover. When she was well enough to be removed from her IV, the staff brought her into a private room daily so we could spend time with Clover and keep her spirits up.
Last night, we brought Clover home. She is going to survive an illness that everything on the internet suggested would kill her.
I'd like to also add that during the many hours we spent at the ER, I was fortunate to see lots of other instances of kindness and compassion. I met other patients' families who would echo everything I've written here, most certainly.
Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU.

It's never a fun trip when you need to go to an animal ER but the staff here is incredible. After a recent loss, they followed up with a card to remember the animal by, it was a very sweet

I rarely take the time to post reviews anymore, but I was so pleased that had to go out of my way to let people know how much I recommend this facility. They have the most compassionate and educated animal care I've experienced in Dallas so far! Their priority was clearly for my dog's wellness and while the price for the exams, scans and treatments came out to be high (but understandable for an ER), they were super patient with my financial situation even when I was feeling bad about it because they know its tough out here! They not only took care of my baby promptly and effectively but they were more than flexible and understanding with their multiple payment options. 20/10 highly recommend! I would give 20 stars if I could.

The Staff and Vet were attentive and knowledgeable. Vet came out to talk with us a couple of times and fully explained treatment options. They were kind and caring to my dog.
