I got extremely frustrated - I was looking for American beautyberries to put in shady areas in my yard. American beautyberries are awesome native shrubs, that are also drought tolerant once established, make gorgeous purple berries at fall, that feed the wildlife. It was a bit hard to find. I asked someone for help. The person I talked to looked like they really knew the store, the plants, the inventory and their location.
He points to some plants and say "here they are!", I checked the tag rather quickly because that person looked trustable and I thought high of Nicholson-Hardie then. The tag said callicarpa so I did not check further. What I did check with him is sunlight requirements, but surprisingly he said "give them some sun". Weird because American Beautyberry is a shade plant, I double checked when coming back home. It thrives in forested areas as an under-tree.
Then I take a picture of the tag for my records: "callicarpa purple pride". What? American beautyberry is a native plant, it should not have a patented name! I go on internet again to check the name Purple Pride: it's a Japanese/Korean variety of beautyberry! Callicarpa Dichotoma. Interesting that "Dichotoma" was not on the tag... Not only it is not at all a native species, but it also has completely different sunlight requirements (needs full sun to partial sun), and....wait for it... it's invasive in the US! The birds eat the seeds and spread it. I expect a nursery like Nicholson Hardie to not sell me an invasive non-native plant when I specifically asked for the native plant "AMERICAN beautyberry".
Now they did take the plants back no question asked. I appreciated that.

Great variety of plants/trees. Exceptionally courteous and knowledgeable staff. Clinton knew exactly where the trees I was looking for (Cercis Canadensis, "Forest Pansy Redbud" ) were located among the Garden Center's stock. He also knew the varities of the species and showed me a beautiful varigated variety. Worth a visit. Parking difficult.

I think people should know about my experience. Purchased trees from here for my backyard. They sold me on two that were “out of season” so they are discounted. Not knowing any better I thought I was getting a good deal. Come to find out, they were infested with mealy bugs that have spread all over my yard. I have spent over 40 hours in labor and hundreds of $$ trying to treat and stop this infestation. They will not refund my money. People need to know that they will sell you infested items and lie to your face. Horrible customer experience.

Nice place, decent size, the entire nursery loops around a central round house where you pay for you plants. This one is the plant area of the two locations, if you didn't know, there's two locations on the same street, about a mile apart. This one sales the outdoor plants and such for the landscape projects. This trip they had a lot of what everyone else has this late in the season. Staff was nice, answered some questions that we had, plants were healthy for the most part, there were a few that looked a little dated from the weather.

Sadly , I love this place and the selections they have and the prices are reasonable, but my experience today around 4:45 pm change my mind, I came to buy my favorite flowers bougainvilleas , but I grab the pot that didn’t have a tag , the cashier told me she remembered it was $49.99 , and I said that was correct , the gentleman in red , immediately corrected me like I was a liar and said they are $59.99, the cashier she told me she thinks I am right , but I went back to where I found the pot and took photos of the others to prove the right price , the man in red did not apologize and walked away …… I ethically pay the right price , not ever lie or be a thief, thanks

I was looking for some pretty fall flowers to put on my front porch. I found some and I could not get anyone to help me. Two of their employees were preoccupied with moving a shelf of succulents and completely ignored me. Another lady was outside in the flower and plant area completely engrossed in a conversation with another client. I waited 15 minutes and no one offered to help me. Horrible customer service! The staff has a lackadaisical attitude! I went to Central Market and bought the flowers for half the price. Their loss!

Was my first time here. While the nursery was well organized, the service wasn't great. I found some neglected plants under the table.. some were completely dead while others were dying. I offered to take them off their hands to revive them if they could give me a discount, but was told that they don't give discounts. They'd rather let the plants die and throw them away.
