Healvet is the best vet in Dallas IMO. They are very thorough and are always considering the total health of your pet. They are well respected for their senior and therapy services and help with every stage your pet is in and help keep them happy and mobile but are well equipped when your pet needs extra as they age. Very comforting. They schedule their appts far enough apart so that the waiting room is not ever busy. We have a large great dane puppy so a clear waiting room is less crazy. A huge plus IMO.

I set up an appointment for my 16 y/o Aussie who has arthritis and degenerative joint disease at Heal Vet. Several emails were exchanged between "Maggie" and myself and on 8/23/24, she confirmed an appointment was made for my dog for an initial assesssment on 9/6/24. I completed and submitted the long intake questionnaire they required, which provided my phone number and email info.. Maggie confirmed they received the completed questionnaire and would call me the following week for the $100 deposit they require, prior to the appointment (That was the first red flag. How many MDs or DVMs require a deposit paid prior to your appointment?) I received a few emails asking when would be a good time for them to call me, to which I replied with the best time to call me. Maggie stated she would call me 9/3/24 at the time I gave her, to collect the deposit. I never heard from her, including the night before my appointment on 9/5/24, when I responded to her email again, telling her I was home and available for her to call me. Whenever I tried to call the clinic, it was never answered and immediately went to a voice mail. I arrived at Heal Vet for my scheduled appointment 9/6/24 and was then told I "wasn't on their schedule for today, because they had not received the $100 deposit". Batbara also stated the "phone number I gave them was a wrong number and belonged to a car dealership". I told her that is incorrect, that the number I provided them on my questionnaire was correct and the only phone number I had. I then had her call the number I provided them, which went straight to my phone and I showed her my phone which was ringing that had her Heal Vet caller id showing on my phone. I also stated that NONE of the emails from Maggie or Barbara, all of which I responded too, stated that my appointment for 9/6/24 would be or was canceled, due to THEIR failure to collect the deposit. Barbara had no answers to any of this, but did continue to focus on her main priority, which was collecting the $100 NON refundable deposit, in order to "reschedule" my appointment. I stated I was too angry to schedule another appointment at that time and requested a call today from Dr. Barton, the clinic owner, to discuss what had transpired. Barbara stated she would have Dr. Barton call me later today. It is currently 8:30 p.m., the clinic closed at 5:30 p.m., is not open again until Monday 9/9/24 and I did not receive a call from Dr. Barton. So much for an expectation that at least the owner of this clinic, would behave in a professional and courteous manner.......
Seriously?? This was gross incompetence and if something as simple as being able to read and dial a phone number provided to them and call a new client at the time they were given, is above their capability, I can't imagine entrusting them with my beloved and adored 16 y/o Aussie!

First Complaint My pet insurance company tried multiple times to get Heal to send them Jasmine's (my dog) medical records from a claim I made on 03/25/2024. Since they could not get a response from Heal they emailed me on 05/05/2024 letting me know they needed the records to process the claim. Since then, I emailed and called Heal twice. Then, my husband emailed and called them twice. The second time they told him they would send him the medical records. As on 05/16/2024 still no records. Our dog was diagnosed with cancer so money is tight, and we can't get reimbursed from our insurance company until Heal sends them her medical records. Second Complaint When I first went to Dr Barton, it was for the ozone treatments for my dog. They injected Jasmine with the ozone and then said her tail must be down for 15 minutes to hold the ozone in. Our other vet in Tucson injects the ozone until she can smell it on the head of the dog. I was told that this is another way to do the ozone treatment. At first the vet held her tail down and then she just handed it over to me. Due to my shoulder issues, I couldn't hold it very long as I was and still am in physical therapy for my torn rotator cuff. My husband was also there to help hold the towel over her tail to keep it down, not a fun thing to do. The second appointment, the technician wanted me to hold the towel for 15 minutes which I told her I couldn't do. She responded that just hold it for 10 minutes while I go help the doctor do x-rays on other dogs. I asked her when she would be coming back and how would I know when the 15 or 10 minutes were up. She gave me a timer and left the room. I tried my best to keep the towel on her and waited desperately for someone to come check on us. After 20 minutes the tech came in and I shared with her my displeasure with the procedure that day. The doctor came in shortly afterward and said they were doing x-rays on other dogs and those dogs needed to be watched. Since I wanted the procedure done with us in the room, the doctor did it in the exam room with us. After that, she assumed I could handle holding my dog's tail down without checking with me first. She had time to charge me $255.00 for less than 2 minutes of her time but acted like it was my fault that I couldn't keep my dog's tail down. I told her I also didn't appreciate the tech telling me to just leave it on for 10 minutes when the week before she told me protocol said it needs to be held for 15 minutes. All in all, it was a terrible experience for us especially when dealing with a dog that has several different on-going illnesses. Discospondilitis and Transitional Cell Carcinoma for just two. My husband had to take off work for my dog's last two treatments since the practice wanted me to hold her tail down. BTW, they rarely answer their phone unless you are in the parking lot.

Flora and I are so thankful for the team at Heal!!! We were already seeing them for her food allergies and they were lifesavers when she developed myelopathy and was unable to walk. She is now back to running with me and it is all thanks to them. Dr Barton and her team are awesome and Flora loves seeing everyone there! I really appreciate their proactive approach to wellness instead of reactive treatment like most animal care. Definitely a different kind of vet which we are fortunate to have in Dallas :)

After our 11 yo dog, Lulah, was diagnosed with DM, our vet suggested physical therapy and aqua therapy to slow the progression of this incurable condition and improve her quality life. We started this process unsure of how much time we would have with her and when we would start to see a decline. HEAL Vet Hospital has been wonderful. The staff is thorough and attentive to her needs and have worked with us on fitting her with harnesses, booties and a wheelchair. Lulah especially loves working with Katie! In addition to PT and aqua therapy, she is also getting acupuncture and has started a new prescription diet with the supplements she needs at this time. We have seen her energy, mood and balance improve and we are all learning how to confidently navigate this new normal in her life thanks to the care and attention of the top-notch team at HEAL Vet Hospital.

Our dog has been going on and off for pre-op and post-op rehab care around two CrCL surgeries. The staff do an amazing job gaining her trust - she's a very anxious dog, but she responds very well to all of them and the care is top notch. Dr. Gaines is likewise a very knowledgeable vet and I trust him completely. I highly recommend this clinic!

The best medical experience I have ever had with my pet! the doctor spent so much time with us, explaining every answer we needed and then some I felt so much reassurance after our visit and confidence and all my insecurities. my dog is very nervous, but was gifted with so much patience and love, couldn't have had a better experience!

Such a great Vet! Dr Gaines is amazing!! He definitely takes the time to sit and answer all Your questions and doesn't rush you. Their prices are a bit high but the quality surpasses that. They only thing that they really need to work on is getting records for the visit in a timely manner. It would be helpful if they did the notes for the records right away when requested for insurance so when we call and ask for them the nurses can just send them. But now it can take 2-3 days sometimes longer to get them. Some people need them right away to submit to get reimbursed by health insurance as soon as possible to help financially.

We brought our 13 year old corgi Harry to HEAL shortly after our primary vet suggested that he probably had DM (Degenerative Myelopathy - a degenerative nervous system condition), and that physical therapy (aqua therapy) could be beneficial to him in helping protect his muscle mass and keep his nerves active for longer.Dr. Gaines spent over an hour with us during our initial visit to get all relevant information and help develop a custom plan to help Harry. While he was honest that there is no cure for DM, he agreed with our primary vet that physical therapy plus other treatments could slow the progression and help him live a longer and happier life.Since starting weekly treatment with aqua therapy, acupuncture and cold laser treatment, Harry can now more easily stand up on his own, is walking farther (with some assistance of a special supportive harness) and has more energy - all of which has improved his quality of life and made him happier. We are very grateful to have such specialized experts in Dallas to help with conditions such as these. Besides their technical skills and knowledge, all of the staff are incredibly caring (Harry loves Katie!) and really love working with their pet clients. Harry actually enjoys going and has zero fear of their office. If you need physical therapy for an injured pet or help with a degenerative condition, I can't recommend them highly enough.

Saved my dog. Here is my story but be sure and read last paragraph, too: My dog had been in 24 hour hospital for almost a week. She still wouldn't eat or drink and was in pain despite getting the best care around the clock. So, despite great medical care, she was not going to make it. The vets at the emergency clinic suggested that Dr. Gaines from HEAL and the physical therapy he does might make a difference. My Abbey was doing MUCH better after one treatment. After another treatment she was ready to come home. She continues to get periodic therapy for a spinal problem. She is once again a happy dog. She eats and she romps in the backyard. She is an elderly dog who is doing really well for her age and medical problems. Dr. Gaines uses acupuncture with electrical stimulation. Several decades ago I had a dog who lost the use of her back legs. My vet back then said nothing could be done. I took the dog for acupuncture with electrical stimulation and she walked immediately after that one treatment. I've had acupuncture help me and it helped my husband who had tried for years to get pain relief in his legs. After acupuncture he never had that problem again. Medical science is great. So is physical therapy. And so is using acupuncture as part of a treatment regimen. Dr. Gaines is kind as well as a talented vet. The staff is GREAT. This place is run so very well. Makes it very easy to come in for my dogs treatments. Her treatment doesn't take long. We are in and out in a snap.
