Finished up my two-weeks for $39 intro offer, after not exercising for over 8 months; here are my thoughts:Pros:-pretty pink girly aesthetic-fun music and lights; it felt like a girly dance party every night!-great staff and instructors-Black-owned-variety of classes that totally kicked my out-of-shape buttCons:-not strictly a women-only gym (which was really disappointing to me, since I definitely feel more comfortable having a woman/femme-only space to exercise in, and the fact that it was marketed as a women’s gym is what drew me in in the first place)-other than the super early morning classes (which I’ll totally admit I’m too lazy to get up for) the classes are held around rush hour, so it takes me over half an hour to get there. One time I had to miss out on a class because there was super heavy traffic and I got there 6 minutes late despite leaving early (there’s a very strict policy of not letting people in after the 5-minute mark). At least they didn’t charge me a no-show fee for it! I think it would be nice if their two locations weren’t so close together; that way it would be accessible to more people!-while I did like their classes, they were all cardio and/or muscular endurance rather than muscular strength (so no heavy weights/machines). While cardio and endurance are great, I really need strength training more than anything else.-pricey, especially if you don’t commit to longer-term plans-no towel service-there was one instructor at the Design District location who used a lot of vulgar language, which made me kinda uncomfortable. She also recommended buying alkaline water (for an NSFW use), which can actually be harmful.Overall while I like this gym, I ended up deciding on a different one, mostly because of the price

Staff is really welcoming and classes are fun! They offer many class formats which is also a plus. I recommend Holly as an instructor. Her classes are amazing, workouts are challenging but fun, and she always has a jamming playlist!

I have been a member of Grit for 6 years and loved it from the start, it was and still is a place that feels so comfortable and welcoming. I met all my best friends at the studio and through the Facebook page am constantly connected with other women who are supportive and share their knowledge, from hair stylists to restaurants to maternity leave policies. Brit has created such a strong network of women, it brings such an incredible feeling into the studio each class. It is the friendships and sweaty workouts that keep me coming back.

I've been going to classes at GRIT while I'm temporarily in Dallas to be with a hospitalized family member. It's too hot to exercise outside right now, and it has been great to be able to be active between sitting around a hospital. Everyone is extremely welcoming and friendly, from the staff to the customers. It's very easy to come in as a new person and get a great workout, no fighting for a good spot or weird dynamics. I've tried two of the strength workouts, and they're comparable to Les Mills Body Pump in terms of intensity, sometimes more intense. The pricing is really what drew me to GRIT initially--there are several nearby fitness studios where you could pay $25 or so for a drop-in workout, but GRIT offers 10-day and 3-week options that are wildly affordable. They also offer two free initial classes. This makes it ideal for someone who is traveling or in town temporarily. They massively over-perform for the price.

GRIT is the place to go if you want to find not just a place to workout but a place to be surrounded by a strong community of women. The variety of classes — the music — the amazing instructors — they’re all reasons to come, but the reason to stay is to be able to be a part of a group that inspires you to challenge yourself. I found GRIT by chance 4 years ago and have never regretted it to the point when we were looking to buy a house, I’d map how far it was to my nearest GRIT. I’ve also enjoyed the ways the community has expanded during pandemic with more groups like book club! And excited to participate more! Also gotta love a place that in the 20 minutes from when you wake up early enough for a 6 AM class on your birthday and decided okay yes I’m doing this, they find the time to put up this:

I have been a Grit Fitness member for almost six years now and somehow my love for this place keeps growing. There's a huge variety of classes that Grit offers and they’re always experimenting with new fun ways to work out. The instructors here are top notch and the fellow members are motivating and supportive. I started out just looking for somewhere to get a good workout, but it has grown to so much more than that. At Grit I have found a supportive community that pushes me to be my best self, cultivates things I’m interested in, and introduces me to life long friends. I'm so grateful to have Grit in my life!

Grit is fantastic! The classes are all fun and give you a great workout. There is quite a bit of variety in your choices, and the instructors are friendly, encouraging, and make sure everyone puts in the work. Grit has a great community where staff and instructors quickly learn everyone’s name and encourage everyone in class to get to know each other. It is so much better to exercise alongside friends than strangers! Grit is the kind of place you want to go to, so it is easy to make it a regular part of your daily schedule.

I love Grit! I’ve been a member for 7 months and I’ve never been so motivated to workout. The classes they offer motivate me to push myself and they are also very fun. I love how it’s helped me become more consistent with my workouts! The environment is always upbeat and everyone is so nice!

I joined GRIT two years ago looking for any studio offering group fitness classes. The classes were really challenging at first, but the community and energy of everyone at GRIT is what kept me coming back. I love the variety of classes, being able to stay loyal to my favorites while still trying something new every once in a while. If you are looking for a gym with members to hold you accountable to your goals or a place where you have the opportunity to make new friends, I would definitely recommend GRIT!

I absolutely love GRIT. I've been a member in a number of formats - monthly, class packs and now virtual - and I love them all. I'm only currently a virtual member because of COVID but, before that, I went to both the Design District and SMU locations, but I'd consider SMU to be my "home" location. PROS: I love the variety of classes and how they fit into my schedule, particularly after work (this obviously isn't important now that I'm a virtual member). All of the instructors push you to do your best without being too harsh...they are incredibly motivating no matter your fitness level. I have literally never felt judged at GRIT, even when I'm doing all of the wrong moves in Step or Dance Club Cardio :) CONS: can be pricey(if signing up for the monthly pass that allows 8 classes/month, it still costs about $15/class) and has very limited changing/showering areas (both at SMU and Design District). Nearby parking can be a challenge at SMU depending on what else is going on the area, but that is infrequent.

The instructors make classes fun while still pushing you to have a tough and effective work out session. The variety of classes offered is amazing and the gym culture is totally judgement free and inclusive. This is the best thing I have done for both my physical and mental health! Thanks Brit and GRIT Team!!

I finally found a gym worth committing to and that makes me look forward to showing up! I love the variety of classes that Grit Fitness offers and how flexible their schedule is. Most studios offer classes during times that are not compatible with 9-6 jobs- except Grit! They also foster a sense of women empowerment and community. The trainers do a great job at making everyone feel welcome. I’m so grateful to have found this gym and be a part of this community!
