Two visits prior writing this review. First visit I dropped off some film to be developed by Lone Star Darkroom. The man came out to ask if I needed help and gave me some basic information, I felt he was being a bit short and I figured he was busy so I dropped my film and left. When I returned to pick up my film the same man helped me and I asked if I could look around and he said sure. I asked if he had everything needed to developed at home and he just pointed to the wall but stood there, if you seconds later he asked me if I was going to buy anything today?Clearly, I was overwhelmed by two things...one, the mess that this shop is and secondly my lack of knowledge about the chemicals. I was really hoping he would guide me on what I needed but I felt the same shortness I felt the first time, as If I was not welcome there. I look around for a little bit and left. I won't be going back there. I tried to support this local business but is a shame that my experience was not pleasant. I could ignore the mess of the store, but feeling like I am not welcome at a place of business is disgusting in this age. If you're not a people person don't work at a place where you must deal with people.

This place has tons of old photo equipment and other photo related devices on display and available for purchase. Is located inside Lone Star dark room on Old Irving in Dallas Texas. Friendly staff.

I was really excited to visit a brick and mortar film photography and camera supply store for the first time because I've only bought film online before. When I walked into Don's Photo Equipment I immediately thought I was in the wrong place. The entire shop was cluttered with a mess of boxes and it wasn't clear where they were selling film. The staff was kind and pointed me down to the back end of the shop where they were selling film, and the mess of boxes continued and was overwhelming. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be a large selection of 35mm film--I would have gladly spent more at the shop if there had been. I think this shop could use with a massive cleaning and revamp to make it much more inviting. Being a new and young film photographer I'd love for brick and mortar film stores to keep open, but in the current state that Don's store is in, I have to give it less stars. I'll be back at some point in the future, and I'll update my review if the place has gotten better.

Old school film photography shop. If you’re looking for a modern state of the art digital photography store this is definitely not your place. If you want the best assortment of available film stocks at reasonable prices then you’ll love it. There’s plenty of older vintage lenses and photography equipment there and many have been waiting for a newer owner for several years. Both of the shop guys are friendly and have years of experience to help those interested newbies. Why wait a week for film to arrive and pay top dollar when you can stop by and pick it up. They are truly the last of the old film photography stores.

Good place with lots and lots of old equipment and really interesting items. The two workers that were there Mayne one of which was Don. They were really good and no pressure in buying anything. They really knew there stuff when talking, but since I don't anything much about cameras they did educate me on the 35mm film and what not. We will be back for sure.

Don was nice, other guy is arrogant and rude. Good luck to him. Wouldn't go back for any need.

Owner is rude and stares you down while you try to shop around. Would not recommend. Very messy and unorganized.

I have so many thoughts I’d like to share but I’ll keep it simple since a lot of these reviews confirm our negative experience visiting this store. The owner was very condescending, he clearly needs to work on his people skills if he wants to successfully run this business. Very valuable equipment stashed all over the place. Clearly there is no respect for the art of photography here, go elsewhere.

Getting ready for a move and had quiet a collection of old cameras. Don was very nice and I felt like he gave me an honest price.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. First time in here today, extremely rude customer service from what I’m guessing is the owner. Left a very bad taste in my mouth. Very condescending for just asking simple questions. Not to mention how unorganized it is. Just moved here and looking for my go to camera shop, clearly not this one they don’t deserve even a penny from me.

I came here once looking for a simple but effective camera for some videos for my business but at a reasonable price. I ended up purchasing a Canon AE 1 and it's been pretty good. The staff were quite friendly. The owner and another employee helped my find my camera and were professional and experienced. The setup was quite confusing because it looks like a garage sale but overall good service and product.

I love this place. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly and they always have a lot of film in stock. My only gripe is that the hours of business seem to be a suggestion. It only seems to be open about 50% of the time i come during their “open” hours.

Don helped me get prints from old negatives I found when sorting through my parent's storage building!
